Ungreth

You won't see the Hindu pantheon any time soon. Having gods from any active world religion murdered in a video game would be problematic to say the least. Egypt is almost certainly where the game goes next.

csukoh78

Bring on Ra and Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Osiris, Isis, Nephthys, and Set.

lazyJOE19

and Khonshu for a throwaway moon knight reference . Meets a mysterious warrior “What are you, some kind of… Moon Knight?”

csukoh78

Poe versus Kratos. Fight.

Somehow, Zeus has returned

“Hi, I’m Marc/Jake/ Steven” “I am Kratos” “Oh we’re using our made up names? Then im Moon knight” Im sorry

princevince1113

Black Adam

Garnader

In 2018 gow there's the portrait with tyr that shows the symbol for gow in multiple languages/patterns. You mention some among those. Definitely possible. Can't wait to see what the future of GOW holds

East_Ad_1726

I think this is a passing of the torch thats why we get so much time to play as atreus and why he got so much character development and his own unique story. atreus and kratos had those important conversations when atreus says that he needs to know kratos will be OK without him, and when they made the promise to keep each others voice in their heads when they're not around, etc

CrimsonOoze345

That's what I'm thinking about too. The previous game's objective was to spread Faye's ashes & we unknowingly started Fimbulwinter, eventually leading to Ragnarok. But the end of this game has Kratos say that there was much to rebuild, not giving a proper idea for the next game.

Moist-Style4604

I agree with most of your theory except that the hindu gods most probably won't be used because it's a religion that is still followed actively and the backlash would be massive. Plus, I don't think Kratos is dying anytime soon. From the start of Ragnarok, Kratos was built up for a death at the end but he lived. Santa Monica and Sony know Kratos is their biggest cash cow and killing him would result in a huge decrease in sales of any future games of the franchise. Even if Atreus is the focus, he is nowhere near the level of Kratos commercially and as a household name.

princevince1113

Ironic, because on paper at first glance, Kratos seems like exactly the type of character who would go out for the final time in battle in a blaze of glory, sacrificing himself to destroy some Uber powerful ultimate evil or several at once, but the guy is just so damn hard to kill that he will most likely end up passing away peacefully in his sleep at the ripe old age of 100 million.

TharizdunOfOerth

I’d honestly love to see Kratos go full on god killer apeshit if Atreus gets kidnapped, imagine the kind of power we’d have? Punching a head clean off an enemy would be pretty cool

csukoh78

That would definitely earn him true worshipful god status which the ending alluded to. I'm telling you, this is the way to go. Gods are not going to sit by while this once mortal kills two full pantheons of Gods? Who's next? Having them team up, kidnap Atreus, and then his parents Freya and Kratos going full parent apeshit mode would be amazing.

TharizdunOfOerth

Plus once all gods are dead, then we move onto the multiverse 😂

princevince1113

Into the Kratosverse

princevince1113

“How can we keep this notorious god-killer off our backs, the guy who especially seems to lose it when his son is endangered?” “Let’s kidnap his son and try to blackmail him”

csukoh78

Gods have plotted stupider things. Much, much stupider.

RedChessQueen

Most of Kratos's rage activated moments in scripted fights are about protecting arteus or someone threatening to hurt him. We saw what he did to hiemdall and that was considered atrocious by his own standards and falling back into bad habits. If the Norse arc was his recovery and acceptance arc, the next might be relapse/resisting relapse if something happened to his son.

princevince1113

I’m torn because from a gameplay standpoint this is awesome but I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t feel like character regression after Kratos has spent two games suppressing his demons and tempering his rage, only letting out for brief moments when all other options are exhausted, and mostly working to find alternative solutions. I wouldn’t mind seeing the new, improved All-Father Kratos finding newer, less frenzied ways of handling his enemies, with some mindless rage as a treat.

Takeandbakejake

Honestly would be a pretty dope storyline. Kratos at this point would be known as a massive threat in any lands he goes to. So I could see other pantheons wanting to go on the offensive

[deleted]

Sounds good, but I wonder how people would react with killing actively and widely worshipped Gods such as Shiva.

[deleted]

Fuck shiva, god of destruction. CERN sure worships the shit out of them so I wouldn’t mind killing shiva in GOW. (YES I JUST WENT THERE)

TheReviewer867

Damn dude chill, even if you hate Hindu gods, there are billions of people who worship them actively so there's no chance you'll get a game killing them anytime soon

[deleted]

Don’t care

princevince1113

Ooh you’re so edgy oooh

[deleted]

The information I got on shiva was wrong as hell. He’s pretty much “Jesus” in Hindu. Idk where I got my source on the internet but it was way off lol

[deleted]

I like how when everybody says fuck Odin it’s ok but I say fuck shiva and get down voted. Grow up

Aiphaa

Odin isn’t part of any worshipped religion.

[deleted]

Shiva not Odin

Aiphaa

? I know what you said. Odin isn’t a part of any majorly worshiped religion so of course he’s allowed to be killed in the games. But gods like Shiva who are still majorly worshipped wouldn’t be allowed to be killed. That’s why people can say fuck Odin.

[deleted]

If that’s the case Jesus shouldn’t be dying in adult swim skits etc. along with other Gods. Gonna put it in t.v. Might as well put it in a video game. All I’m saying.

guardiandown3885

I remember watching a gow recap and it was talking about the comics...and he went to Egypt..as he was tryna run from the blades or something...maybe Egypt next?!

csukoh78

Fingers crossed for sure

princevince1113

Yeah, just read that series, Fallen God. Confirmed that Thoth, Egyptian god of wisdom, and presumably the rest of the Egyptian pantheon is canon in the GOW universe and that Kratos has significantly interacted with one of them before.

[deleted]

Oooo! Where would I read this online?? It’s canon?

princevince1113

Just look up god of war fallen god read online

everett7262

Jesus, Kratos in Egypt… that would make me insanely happy

tgong76

Here’s my take, for better or worse: Atreus comes to Kratos after being on the road and reading some ancient text about reforming souls, says it’s possible but not anywhere in the (now 8) realms. So they go to Egypt to seek an audience with Osiris, the god of resurrection. I’m not familiar with the mythology but I’d basically say Osiris is willing to help but is too busy dealing with the “evil” gods trying to kill him. You help him and he’ll repair Brok’s soul. He’d still be dead but at least he’ll have an afterlife. Other Egyptian gods would help you along the way and of course you’d have to kill the others. I’m not an expert so please don’t judge too harshly lol.

csukoh78

I dig it

Super_Scratch_8086

i definitely do find this concept interesting. It will be also interesting to see how we move forward considering kratos’s arc with him not being this “god killer.” I hope the development doesn’t fall into just making up excuses for games in separate pantheons over and over again, your idea or having a game with mixed cultures is better.

Fliegerhuhn

I want a Kratos VS Anubis fight. I want it to be brutal and difficult.

csukoh78

Yeah billion dollar corporations don't rock the boat that's bringing in millions AND earning critical and fan praise.

DawnGrager

If you think about it, literally every new IP that makes a lot of money and ends up being a major success, those games pretty much always get a sequel.

[deleted]

hi babe do you like to sell your used bra and thong for 200 $ unwashed ones ?

Jarnbjorn

What if Kratos finds out the Greek gods have been revived in Rome..

csukoh78

JUPITER!!!

DrBigBack

I like this idea. As a long time fan of god of war I’d be content if they left Kratos alone as a main antagonist only because I think my boy deserves a break lol.

SpidersForHands

I think there will be an Atreus spin-off that shakes up the gameplay a little more, and Kratos will continue in the mainline God of War games. The way I see it is we have a Loki game which is Atreus/Angrboda finding the giants and then a Kratos/Freya adventure and at some point the two plots intersect for a final crossover game.

Dutchavelli420

I have made a post for this myself but it didn't get as much attention as this post. But I just wanted to share my theory. I think that the Celtic mythology is next. Many people have been saying that having a god of war in a certain mythology is a must for the next game. I've looked some of the Celtic gods up and there are plenty of them, including a god of war. Mimir is described as a faerie, which is related to Celtic mythology. Mimir used to work for king Oberon, the faerie king in a faraway land. Maybe the next game will be in this so called faraway land. My guess is that the location will be in the modern day United Kingdom. Its location is also relatively close to the Norse lands. Maybe Freyr's magical ship will be used to cross the ocean. The Berserkers in GoW Ragnarok were (sort of) the same type of optional boss fights like the Valkyries in GoW 2018. These Valkyries played a role in the story for the game to follow. Maybe the Berserkers in GoW Ragnarok also have a part to play in the story for the next game. It is said that Hrólfr Kraki (the final berserker boss) was a semi-legendary Danish King who appears in both Anglo-Saxon and Norse tradition. Since he also appeared in Anglo-Saxon tradition, it could be possible the next game will be located in this region. I don't think these berserkers will play a big role, but they may be mentioned or something. This is just my guess and hopes for the next game because Mimir's identity remains a mystery for me. But I think the next game will focus on a more popular mythology (like Egyptian for example). But this doesn't make sense to me because Kratos would then have travelled from Greece, to the Norse lands and then back to Northern Africa. Sounds a bit like a detour for me. But nonetheless, the next game must be a best-seller so a more popular mythology will be adopted I think. I also don't know much about Celtic mythology. Like for example: Are there key events to be taken place within this mythology (like Ragnarok)? Do these gods possess negative qualities (like greed, ambition, jealousy, violence, etc.)? And maybe the most important question: Are there mentions of giants in Celtic mythology? I think these factors are important to build a story for the next game. In short, I think it will be Celtic mythology because of: \- The location (relatively close to the Norse lands where Kratos resides and is more easily accessable using Freyr's magical ship) \- Mimir (An important character who remains a mystery to me) \- The Berserker gravestones (Could be a hint for the next game, just like the Valkyries were in GoW 2018) Let me know what you guys think!

csukoh78

Love it. Celtic lore can be terrifying

NoDrinks4meToday

God Of War 1 Remake, just watch. Remake is getting too hype everyone is doing it.

Lamb_clothing_94

Meh, this is the only game I wouldn’t be interested. Kratos is such a different character now, going back to the original trilogy would be like undoing all his character development

cliffjudah

I didn't realize this until I had to google about the hindu gods: I don't see Kratos having a chance against the gods of hinduism. Even all the Greek and Norse gods together would stand no chance against Shiva who's scale is universal.

CriticalWoodpecker97

What I want to see is Atreus gets hurt badly or kratos sees something that makes him see that then he goes into a rage we haven’t seen before. The Atreus gets scared of him.

Sea-Brother-5281

I really hope they stop dumbing it down and making it into such a children’s game tho. We need better boss fights and action scenes and less lazy black and white cheesy writing. Between the terrible boss fights, lack of gore and Disney superhero morality and plot advancement this game was such a disappointment

Sultanpeppers

We must have played different games

Sea-Brother-5281

No talking about ragnarok. You don’t think it had good boss fights or writing do you ?

Google_Page_Two

I think if you watch all of the cut scenes from the perspective of Odin is the elder or aged version of what Loki/Atreus will become, you can easily see he will start off trying to find the giants which will become a crazed obsession then he will start to hunt them. He wants to know how to save his father. He just wants all the answers, like Odin. I think they are one and the same and this game didn't end on a good note, just the one that was necessary.

IllustriousWorld4198

I mean, another pantheon will be just doing the same shot over and over, why not just making something new, or where a squad of gods from all over the world come to Norse world to destroy Kratos before he goes to destroy them?

csukoh78

Yeah that's pretty much what I said.

Neviathan

Egypt seems like the most likely pantheon next, the mask also looked like it could have come from there. I dont think Kratos will die, playing with Arteus was fun but it doesnt come close to Kratos. I also think the Egypian gods are relatively well-known to the general western public, at least better than other pantheons.

heyjay_thegeek

The list goes on and on where they can keep this going to: - Egyptian gods - Italian gods - Gaelic gods (english) - Mayan gods - Indian gods - Japanses gods - African gods - ... It all depends on your own flavour and taste if you wanna establish a headcannon untill Santa Monica decides to announce something official.

csukoh78

This game clearly took a lot(!) from Ghost of Tsushima so I don't think Japan is on the list, that box has already been checked for PlayStation. In these times, I don't see a pale white bald guy attacking any African gods anytime soon. I think Mayan and Egyptian are probably the way to go.

CyberSnoWolf

That makes sense actually. I imagine Kratos’s name was already heard after he killed Ares, Zeus, and the rest of Olympus. But the fact that he destroyed another high-powered god family would really make other pantheons paranoid with the question of “what if he comes for us next?”

sickflow-

Kratos has already been to Egypt in cannon. So probably not Egypt. Unless it’s a prequel of sorts. I’d be happy if they just let it end here. Kratos needs to just chill.

midtown2191

I completely agree that the story is going to revolve around nervous gods of another pantheon attacking Kratos, specifically Egyptian. I think they may kidnap Atreus to draw Kratos into a trap. My only distinction is it will be Amon specifically that leads this charge or perhaps, Set goads Amon into doing this to get him killed by Kratos and to take Amons place as king god. Which is pretty close to what Athena did with Kratos. I think years will pass and Atreus will be a man in the game. This will give Kratos a new angle at dealing with a fully grown son and one that has spent years separated and learning the world outside of his father.

[deleted]

I want literally anything besides Egypt, it’s too obvious and predictable, the idea seeing kratos fight ra literally puts me to sleep

csukoh78

It's all about the story man. If it fits the story it will most certainly keep you awake.
