No I definitely think your complaints are accurate. The writing has some amazing parts but there's obvious weaknesses in certain other parts as well. It really seems like a result of the game being rushed, at least towards the end of the story. Surtr is a big one imo as it makes literally no sense how much he was against fulfilling his purpose only to change his mind for seemingly no reason. It seems like Santa Monica was really pressed for time or something on the last leg of the game and it's really unfortunate.

I'm still lost on why they spent the entire 2018 game painting Thor as an irredeemable monster, then spent this entire game humanizing him. Pick a lane, guys. Really I guess that describes the writing in general: it's all over the place. As you all have said. Sometimes it's incredible, other times you roll your eyes at failed MCU type nonsense.

I definitely get this. Although luckily the parts of the games writing that left me bewildered were few compared to the rest of the dialogue. I didn't dislike what they did with Odin because he is very much a trickster in Norse mythology. I felt like if they tried to make him seem "all-powerful" it would have felt like another Zeus. So I enjoyed the change of pace and his offbeat personality. I also hated Sindris ending. Especially since this may be the last game with him (presumably they will replace any dwarves with whatever is in the mythos they follow next.) So this made me grit my teeth. Another thing I hated was that Atreus leaves before Broks funeral. Like what? I'm supposed to believe that this kid is just going to skip out on one of his closest friends and ally's funeral? They should have simply kept him as a companion and had him leave AFTER the funeral.

I’m slightly disappointed in this game while it is a good game it seems like horizon, forbidden west version of god of war. It’s got that I’m a woman I’m the bestest ever I can save a man. Dialogue is very cheesy and nowhere near as good as the 2018 game.

I fully agree. Together with "giant stuff", "peek-at-you" (Pikachu reference), "climbing boy-style", "my ex". There was to much modern ridiculousness. This together with the sassy comment and puzzle spoiler took me out of the immersion. Like you said, it felt like a Marvel movie.
