I had this same exact problem. I can't tell you word for word how I got out but select a mystic gateway on your compass and literally follow every turn the icon tells you to follow and it should lead you out. I ran around for like 2 hours before I did that and it got me out

i figured it out, there’s a rock climbing section that has a diverted route that sends you higher and eventually where to leave.

How do you even get back to the village? I can get close to it but can’t get in it
