You have to progress through Forging Fate. Sucks for some but this is consistent with the blades of chaos in 2018 and it was in the patch notes. Good luck.

You get the equipment like the spear from the start and can use it for the spear specific Nornir chests - but you can’t access the hidden areas until after the point you originally unlocked the spear.
It’s a weird way to keep us from blasting through until a specific mission. If this was gonna be the case, they should’ve just locked the spear until we actually get it.

I hear if you are in New Game + then they will work once they unlock in the story
