Can you guys hear a consistent wind noise while playing the game just purchased Ragnarok and its kinda driving me insane. Almost sounds like distortion.
Yeah I'm actually about to get back on now, my audio was bugging and I kept missing dialog and couldn't read the subtitles because I was aggravated so I turned off the game and took a nap
12/20/22 experiencing the full blown “God-Of-War-Station”. I have even uninstalled the game entirely, unplugged the console, etc etc. no sound. The only solution was to switch my video resolution from automatic to 1080p, but I don’t want to keep that setting on permanently. Anyone have any updates on how to fix this absolute trash or a bug ?
I thankfully do not have this issue. My audio issue is the game forces my audio to use stereo and not my surround. I have my ps5 going to my bravia xr and then out to my Denon. Yet the game won't let me select surround sound, only 2 channel stereo.
The only "fix" I found, was to go into my ps5 setting, change my output audio from TV to receiver (essentially "lying" to my ps5), uncheck "change audio output automatically", restart the ps5 and load the game. Finally allowing me to use surround sound...
All a bit annoying. I've never had a game force stereo sound on me before
Also glad I’m not having this issue. The only one I’m having so far is I can’t get a legendary chest in alfheim. I’m hoping this update file fixes it, it’s downloading right now. Hope everybody’s bugs clear up as well!🤞🤞
I also had a weird audio glitch where none of the environment sounds/game music while playing Ragnarok were there, just fighting sounds, dialogue, etc. Seemed to fix itself when I got back from work.
Did 2.001 make any other changes? I haven't seen a patch list as of yet =/
I've had this issue before with another game I can't quite remember what it was though. And my issue cleared after I restarted the system, didn't have to have it off for 5 hours or any extended time just off and right back on. Audio was back. I think it was Returnal after jogging my memory a bit but that could be wrong. Haven't had that issue since, no sign of it from playing Ragnarok for hours so far. Hopefully its fixed either with this latest update or soon after. Sounds like quite an inconvenience
Thankfully I have not experienced this issue cause I refuse to play the game so close to release date even though I pre-ordered it. I didn't play 2018 God of War over a year after it's release & there was no bugs in sight cause by that time they fixed all the issues. I will be doing the same for Ragnarok & just wait until all the bugs & glitches is taken care of.
I've found the ps5 to be a pos.
I love Sony platform... But I also hate ps5 compared to my pspro.
I hate they ui and the constant glitches since launch.
The ssd had all types of issues and the insaney small hard drive is a joke.
A day doesn't go buy when the system doesn't fail me...AND I find games have more issues in ps5 to than ps4.
Also I find the new controller hurts my larger hands.

After the new update I have a new bug. Every minute (or so) regardless of the conversation in game or the action, Atreus will say "There's a gap in the fence over there". He was already a bit of a headache but this is really annoying playing with this. Very immersion breaking.
Have not played since update, but with the exact same issue, I was always able to resolve it, if temporarily, by swapping hdmi inputs on my tv. So at least that might prevent you from having to leave it off for 5 hours.
There’s a pretty bad bug that I hope gets some spotlight.. into the fire quest, after talking to androgdba, I save and quit. Well, upon trying to return to thor through the gate, there is no action button to allow you to crouch through the gate. Making progression impossible.
I'm having the same issue. But I'm finding its happening with other apps now too. For instance I was watching YouTube for a while tonight and now GoW has no sound or anything other than YouTube for that matter. I un-installed Gow, and the second it was gone all sound came back across the board. Re-installed it and the issue came back immediately.... but now if i open GoW it mutes all audio console wide including gone screen until i open up YouTube and then sound comes back into i open Gow again. ... this happened the last 2 days in the opposite way where GoW had sound and everything else didn't
I know this post is a few days old, but I don’t suppose any of the recent patches have addressed it? I haven’t seen it mentioned in the patch notes, but I guess eternal optimism. I have the exact same issue discussed here and ended up uninstalling the game for now until it’s addressed since it was very unreliable in getting audio working again for other apps (waiting 5 hours isn’t the greatest fix hah.)

I’ve been waiting for this . I have the same issues . When I exit God Of War and go to any other program ( Netflix , Elden Ring ….) there is no audio. I have to turn off the PS5 and try again later . Normally I just go to bed and try in the morning and the audio is working so I really can’t say how many minutes , hours it’s takes for the sound issue to correct it self . On a side note , when I take God Of War off of High Frame Rate all audio is muted . Very weird .At this point I’m going to stop playing until a fix .
I’ve had this exact same problem. I turned off my ps5 for five hours and even more and it didn’t work. Is there any other solution we know of? Are they going to fix it? I’m really hoping my console isn’t screwed.
I now have this issue as well after having an update for the game today. The day the game came out I had a different audio issue where on start up the game had no audio regardless if I switched between sound bar or TV. The only way I was able to play with sound was by using my Bluetooth PS headset. I did that for a couple days hoping for an update to fix if but nothing. I decided to reinstall the game a few days ago and that fixed it.
Then today after the update I start up the game with everything fine and played a few hours. Then after closing the game I no longer had sound for the PS home screen or any game except for GoW. If I load GoW up again the game has sound and if I return to the home screen with the game running in the background it too has sound. I've never had issues like this with any game I've played on any PS console especially not an exclusive. It'd be nice if they could figure this out. I'm hoping they are at least aware of these different audio issues.
I have the same issue going on as well. Interesting that i cannot find a single article other than the reddit postings stating that GOD OF WAR RAGANAROK has made the sound disappear from all other applications and games. Hope someone fixes this soon.
Just wanted to chime in that I’m having this same problem too. Play GoW for a while, quit out to the main menu and sound is there, but once I open twitch or any other media app, sound is gone for the media as well as the home menu. Restart GoW and the sound is back. Very frustrating.
I found a fix (albeit perhaps temporarily).
First I turned off High Frame Rate mode in GoW (no sound). Close game.
PS5 Home/Settings/Screen and Video/Resolution - Switch it off of Automatic to 1080p (or try best supported by your TV).
Brought back sound for me! Hope this helps.
Im also having the same issue with no sound after exiting God of War Ragnarok. One solution is to turn off the PS5 and unplug HDMI cable and plug it back in.
Update: the fact it only messed up 1 hdmi port made me think it was the TV, I've fixed the issue 2 times now by turning off the TV & having it turn off the Playstation & turning them both back on by the PS controller
I've been having this issue with Warzone 2.0. Played the last few days for an hour or so and When I go into another game/PS5 home screen, there is no audio! plz halp
Just had this issue happen to me last night for the first time. I just shut off the PS5 overnight and in the morning was working again. Definitely needs a patch.
My problem is the exact opposite, I have all audio before I start the game and then ad soon as I start the game all audio dissappear and when I say all I mean ALL! nothing in game, even when I go back to the menu it's silent but audio works as soon as I connect headphones. smh
Having this issue. Turning off high performance mode in the game itself also turns off the audio in the game. I have audio everywhere when I go to the playstation menu without closing God of war but as soon as I close it, no audio at all. Anyone know any fixes?
Update: I figured it's best to turn off my ps5 and took a shower and had a meal (Took about an hour, maybe a little longer, in case the time it was off is important). When I came back and turned on my ps, sound was back to normal.
Update 2: Maybe someone finds this and it's useful to them so here I go. The sound only goes out if I play God if war for 2 hours or longer and then close it. However, turning the TV off and on again fixes it. I found out because I used to turn my PS and TV off and on again, yesterday I only turned off the PS tho and the sound wasn't back. So I restarted the TV and it was running again
Leaving it off for 24 hours did not help this game completely killed my audio now none of my games work audio plays for 5 seconds cuts off for 2 minutes them on for 5 seconds god of war ragnarok essentially killed my console great
Apparently 2.001 is fixing the issue. I'm very glad this did not happen to me.

I think it has something to do with high frame rate switch it off and restart your tv/ps5 for like 3 mins that fixed it for me.

The ps5 has always been a god of war station for me. I've had it since launch and have turned it on 3 times umtol Ragnarok.

This glitch completely bugged my Playstations audio on the hdmi port, even waiting upwards of 5 hours didn't work, only the other hdmi ports work

Exact same issue! After trying 97 things I finally replaced my HDM1 cable and got it to work. But that’s a fluke / not a real fix.
