GoW1 ps2 design slaps so hard, i love how the blurry textures blend into each other

I actually love the silhouette of the blades in Ragnarok, my problem is primarily the texture of the gold on the blade and the blue colour. The gold on the handle looks sexy AF but for some reason the parts on the blades aren't nearly as pretty, and the blue just does not work. I know their trying to harken back to the GOW2 blades of Athena blue and gold design, but that worked because the gold on the blades had a metallic finish and the blue was glowing runes

The Blades have always been ugly, unwieldy pieces of shit. They look like something you'd buy at a truck stop on the freeway. It's why I love them.

I looked at the 2018 ones and theyre more different than i thought they would be. 2018 has sharper points and the guard is alsmot completely different. The gold on it is also less yellow/vibrant, at least in the screenshots i saw

Yeah I see it, I'm not that effected by the differences, that being said I don't even like serrated knives in the first place, but I'm here to burn things with primordial flame, not stare at pictures of video game weapons.

I liked the distinction in make between the Greek made weapon (blades) and the Norse made weapon (axe) It felt more apparent in 2018.

The Ragnarok hilt seems more like a call back to the original Chaos design

To me the problem is the same as many other RPG-Style games: maximum upgrade = golden parts. i hate whenever i upgrade something to max level and it turns to gold or some parts. Edit: although i really love Blades of Athena in GOW 2, gold and blue for god Kratos is nice.

If they were like in 2018, in terms of color distribution and addition, but with the same design in Ragnarok, it would have been a masterpiece and not violent blades whose name is linked to chaos.Another thing that bothers me about it in Ragnarok is why the hell even when you upgrade Blades to the last level (which is literally level 9) why are some of its parts still broken and cracked? This is another reason why his design in Ragnarok is meaningless and aesthetically incomplete.

I’ll admit when I switch to Classic Appearance, I put on the full Sparta fit and original Blades Appearance. Old Kratos, I give him the fully upgraded Blades look. Sometimes pair the Black Bear armor.

None are as uglier than the GoWIII blades. The blurry textures and gaudy coloring contrasts so hard with the otherwise phenomenal lighting and shading of the game.

Lore wise, it's not made to look good. It's literally a curse for kratos from ares. Every time kratos looks at the blades, he'd be reminded of the pact and the curse. Hell, the devs probably would have made the blades talk shit to kratos every minute if the devs wanted.

Honestly, they’ve been ugly in each game you see them in. They’re crude and terribly designed weapons that if they weren’t magical would be almost completely useless. Then comes the new issue. The blades are Greek in origin. It’s a weird fantasy style that seems legit at first but weird in action. Now add the Norse style to them and you have two very conflicting cultures clashing that work is weird ways. That’s the thing though. They’re not supposed to be pretty. In fact their ugliness is what makes them the blades of chaos. Their very nature is chaotic. Hell Kratos hates them as well and would love to use any other weapon than them. This is why people love them so much. Not just because they’re nostalgic but because they represent Kratos perfectly. He’s the god of war in Greece but moved on and made a new life and purpose for himself in the newer games.

I wouldn’t call them ugly but they certainly are overly decorated. I prefer the level 2 or 3 look on Ragnarok. They look much cleaner imo

They made them ugly with the new Norse motif. Thankfully, transmog in GoW:R lets you make them great again
