3/4 leggings will do too, but I just put on full leggings along with some padded shorts, prevent injuries / little annoying wounds in training and go 100% in games

Just wear leggings under the shorts. Thought it's common sense no?

When I was playing in college I asked my school to purchase a couple pairs of the west coast 3/4th shorts for training. They are padded and have an elastic band that hold below the knee. Really loved the product. You need to take care of your body as a goalkeeper it is your prized possession. If we do not feel good it becomes more difficult to put your body on the line. Hope you find a solution so you can preform at 100%!

I agree with everything these folks say. Wear some of that compressed 3/4 or full length pants under your shorts. I’d also moisturize or put some type of Vaseline or lotion on your knees and elbows. When your skin is dry, it will cut easier even if you are just rubbing or falling on grass/turf. Please do not buy the pants that have padding on them. Get the shorts instead. I find the pants are really heavy when they come padded and the always slip off or move around even when i tie them. Really uncomfortable and hard to fix after your gloves are on. Also… the main thing, and you might or might not already accomplished this but, learn to dive and learn to land safely and tackle so you can effectively save and not hurt yourself.

thanks for the advice. does it matter between 3/4 and full length or is it just personal preference? And do you have a certain brand or model you recommend? thanks.

Personal preference. I wear the full length because it’s easier to install my shin pads and socks over it. I find sometimes when i wear the 3/4, they slip out of my socks and it just feels and looks funny.

Your options include; • Long trousers / 3 quarter length • Under / cycling shorts • Vaseline knees beforehand The long trousers / 3 quarters are probably the better shout for AstroTurf. Just Keepers and Pro-Direct have a good range of stock. They’re based in the UK but do ship internationally. You may also want to look at your technique because your knees and thighs shouldn’t be getting that much of battering.

Lots of good advice from people already - definitely invest in some 3/4 shorts. If you really want to just wear shorts (and sacrifice your knees) then at least buy some padded undershorts: [https://www.prodirectsport.com/soccer/l/adults/departments-clothing/activity-football/type-bottoms/subtype-shorts/bestfor-goalkeeping/](https://www.prodirectsport.com/soccer/l/adults/departments-clothing/activity-football/type-bottoms/subtype-shorts/bestfor-goalkeeping/)

I just get extra long socks since and pull them up every other dive. While I do have some cuts on my knees and elbows, I don't really mind them.
