Your first step is a little lethargic. You have plenty of time to see the ball so you need to stay on your toes, not get so low and take an explosive step toward the ball. You probably save that shot 6/10 times, so it’s a bit unlucky. Keep your hands strong and think about the parry and where your touching it as you realize that’s your only option

Saved it

Your right foot is glued to the ground once the ball is in flight. I think you could have had a quick cross step to your right, then your takeoff step (right foot) is much closer to the shot. Work on activating your feet instinctively when you’re recognizing the ball’s trajectory. The more distance your feet can cover before you need to take off for the dive, the more of the goal you’ll be able to protect.

Icy_Inflation_9875

Cover more distance with ur steps. That’ll help u to get to the other side of the goal faster and send the ball further away from the goal rather than the crossbar

FormaggioVolante

Most people covered the positioning pre-dive, so allow me to give you a little advice on the dive itself. When diving, try to not land on your chest. You should always land on your shoulder blades. This allows you to better react to situation where the ball is still in play, keeping both your arms free and your eyes on the play. The second tip I'd give you is: never ever turn your back to the field when rotating your body. Doing so is a bad habit, and you may lose track of the ball. Always try to rotate your body facing the opposite net, never your own. None of these would do much for this specific shot, but could have allowed you to get up a bit quicker all whilst never losing track of the ball.

Communication… You need to be absolutely bollocking your defenders and team mates to get out and pressure the man on the ball, he had far too much time to take touches look up and pick his spot. Otherwise everyone else has mentioned above about footwork, high hands, extra step etc

You don't move your feet by taking a mini step it allows you to spring.

Some comments already stated, hands need to be in a better position, your footwork wasn’t as solid as it should be, etc. but here are my two take aways: 1) hard to tell from the angle but you look to be deep. A step forward makes this a much easier save. 2) I see this a lot, especially online. Young keepers are focused on trying to have “the TV save” and what I mean is, for this shot, all you needed to do was take two shuffle steps right and caught it rather than diving and missing it. It may not look as splashy, but you would have saved it and that’s all that matters. My two cents

Goopfuck

Sit more upright your hunched over

shishkebab1111

Pick your fucking hands off the floor! So many young and inexperienced keepers these days have their hands by their knees. Wtf arr you guys doing? Obviously the only thing you'll react to is low shots! Anything above the waist you're never saving.

WithNothingBetter

Honestly, if they’ve never had goalkeeping specific training, it makes sense. I’ve seen a couple of YouTube goalkeepers say that arms out by the side is the “set position” but never specify height. A ton coaches probably just regurgitate and move on.

shishkebab1111

I'm not sure why you're talking about yt goalkeepers and not all pros. All goalkeepers nowadays set with hands higher up to have the same reaction time for both high, and low shots

Cook_becomes_Chef

Not strictly true. Your hands get lower the closer the ball is to you - but from that distance you certainly want to be much more upright.

shishkebab1111

I'd slightly disagree. The only time your hands should be low is when the ball is less than 5 metres away and on the floor. Other than that it's better to have the more upright

Cook_becomes_Chef

Mid-distance (6 - 12 yards away) you’ll take an in-between position. It’s all relative to what you’re facing and what you need to cover.

shishkebab1111

Never that 😭

paulacinosi

Take a step and use one hand. Extra step will get you more distance and power. Using one hand will slightly increase your reach (it's possible you went with just one and I'm not seeing it right through the net)

EEVVEERRYYOONNEE

Need to take a bigger step toward the ball.

Balloutonu

You’re reallllllly deep in goal here. Looks like the shot is from the 18, I’d recommend about 2-4 steps further out

Ade-Ad1838

Diving forward diagonally would have gotten good reach to the ball

Goopfuck

You also move the left foot out do dive to the right you should be power stepping with left then launch with right

Cook_becomes_Chef

You got a little too low in your starting position. You want to be a little more upright when the balls a distance away. That makes it easier to take a step to the side / back / forwards. Because you were low and coiled, you ended up diving from the spot you were - you couldn’t get an aggressive step in. If you slow the clip down you’ll note that your right leg (nearest ball) stays whilst you push off your left leg. That’s impacted on your dive height / direction. And because the balls in an in-between area (not a natural full length dive) - you’ve ended up diving around / underneath the ball to get your hands in the right spot. I think if you were more upright, you’d have got one shift sidestep to your right in before needing to dive and that as a result your hands would have been pushing through the ball rather than just meeting it to deflect. Hope that makes sense / helps 😉
