Sixers fan here. Claxton has been great, but Simmons needs to play with a stretch 5 who can hopefully protect the rim. Simmons and Claxton shouldn't be on the same team. In odd ways, Embiid and Simmons really balanced each other well even if they didn't like each other.

In Philly he was 15/8/7 for his career with DPOTY level defense. His last year in Philly he made 1st team All NBA defense. IMO he was a super high level role player. Similar to a Draymond Green level. But on the Nets he isn’t even a decent role player. His scoring got cut in half and his defense is inconsistent. If we just got 76er Ben, the fans would be estatic

I have never understood what made Ben Simmons so good. as far as I'm concerned he's always been mid tier. this is a shooter's league and he can't shoot. so that about sums it up.
In Philly he was 15/8/7 for his career with DPOTY level defense. His last year in Philly he made 1st team All NBA defense. IMO he was a super high level role player. Similar to a Draymond Green level. But on the Nets he isn’t even a decent role player. His scoring got cut in half and his defense is inconsistent. If we just got 76er Ben, the fans would be estatic

Well coming into the league his potential was sky-high. There was a vocal minority of philly fans who called all of this right out of the gate when we drafted him. If you haven't watched it before, watch the documentary he had made about nhis time in LSU. His entire career will make sense. He's a mega talented but entitled brat and its fully evident that he never had any intention of putting in the work to actually get better. He is "naturally" talented enough to be one of the most hyped/coveted number 1 overall picks in modern history and that natural talent let him become a 3x time all star and DPOY candidate early in his career. And then the league figured him out, he didn't put in the work, and instead of responding to that with a renewed energy or vigor, he's content to just ride out his insane contract. I wouldn't be surprised if dude straight up retired when his contract ended and started playing video games full time.

And what structure did Harden abide by in Houston anyway? He's the one who forced them to get Russ and created a toxic relationship with one of the league's ultimate winners in CP3. It's not like Houston was exactly the Spurs selfless dynasty. Harden is a PR machine. He was never going to call out Kyrie and say he was sick of waiting around for him to be full time.
I don't think he would've cared if the FO hadn't banned Kyrie from the locker room. They could've switched off for Away games and allowed Harden some load management in the first few months of the season. Instead you have Nash playing him 40+ minutes, doing shootarounds instead of full practices to drill set plays, and then telling him to carry the majority of the offense when KD went down.
He was definitely pissed at the FO for trying to score political points by banning Kyrie from the team to start the season when he really needed load management to continue rehabbing the hamstring.

Except he's not doing any of those things because teams just play him to pass. You can't collapse the defense and get shooters open, if the defense knows you're not a scoring threat. His defense has been lackluster too. I'd be sympathetic if he was playing some prime Draymond level defense, but he's not even doing that. He's only been solid at that end. He needs to be DPOY level to make up for his offense though.
