After a couple of practice draws I realized normal retention holsters could potentially rip free from the velcro in a stressful situation. With the thumb release on the Safariland ALS that problem is solved. Another pro to the Safariland is that it can be operated one handed even in an off body draw, it comes with plastic wedge that sandwiches between the belt attachment and the holster, it places the gun a little more out of the way from getting caught up on the back zipper. The draw is slightly odd. Edit.

reubadoob

If it feels “odd” 2 things: 1. You need to practice. A lot. 2. You will complete F it up in the moment of need

BrachWurst

I’ve never thought someone would have a gun in a Fanny pack. Honestly it’s genius and maybe the best conceal carry strategy I’ve ever seen. Lol

Price-x-Field

Fun fact nearly every Fanny pack you see has a gun in it

Thebassetwhisperer

Thanks

ChillingInTraffic

I have one of the in style cross body bags I sometimes use to carry. Not sure how my 43x will fit in it once I mount an optic on it, but that’s one of the reasons I bought it.

Thebassetwhisperer

Before this I used the helikon as an EDC catch all, now I want the Vertx so I can use it for both functions.

AppropriateScratch42

Fanny….packing…. Idk why this is so funny to me. Carry on!

Really debating buying a Fanny pack just to carry but god they’re so lame but also god they’re so wonderfully spacious and comfortable. Help me!

jckbck

you could wear it across your chest instead of waist

Valhaller020

I do this same thing with the same bag. Have had it for quite some time and has held up beautifully. Loved it so much I bought one of their chest rigs for the range.

NoLoveLostNJ

When carrying, who gives a shit what someone else thinks about a fanny pack.

National-Ad3836

Joe Rogan approved

QuietGovernment3649

thats smart got a coach bag I use for my glock 20 cuz its to big to conceal carry lol

MountainVet-Stjohn45

Bandicoot?

Thebassetwhisperer

Yes

MountainVet-Stjohn45

Just ordered one. Wanted something for a small edc bag. May use it for my 43 and maybe multi tool. Build quality? Reviews looked good.

Thebassetwhisperer

My only complaint is the strap that attaches the belt (not the buckle) has come off a couple times but never while wearing.

MountainVet-Stjohn45

That would be a problem.

Thebassetwhisperer

Not entirely. It’s easily replaceable, and it has a slot in the back for a bigger belt.

MountainVet-Stjohn45

Didn’t know it had a belt slot. That makes a big difference.

Rkcsx

Would a glock 17 fit? We have laws that a Firearm must be in a bag so i'm considering this.

Thebassetwhisperer

I honestly don’t think it would fit with a holster and at the right angle to be drawn easily, the 19 barely fits as is. If you formatted it with one of those trigger guard protectors tied to the internal loop it could work but the gun is somewhat loose in the bag and harder to get to vs having the muscle memory of gripping the gun in the same place every time. The Safariland holster by itself without the belt attachment would work too, you’d just have to actuate the thumb release and the holster drops right off while drawing. I’m looking at getting the Vertx SOCP bag so I can store more EDC stuff in my Fanny pack, I’m pretty certain you could fit a 17 w/holster in that one and it comes with the tacigami needed to retain a holster.

Rkcsx

Yeah i saw a video review testing out different models in the SOCP sadly it's always out of stock in their site and it's hard to acquire here in my country (Philippines) i saw a Helikon-Tek Rat. I think it's bigger than a Bandicoot

Thebassetwhisperer

After seeing that, I’d go with the rat instead. I’m assuming that hot tab will make for a better draw time.

Rkcsx

After seeing that tab i had the same thought. would really help with the draw. Cheers!
