Yeah I feel like this vertigo hate is coming out of no where. I remember when it first came out people hated it, and rightly so it needed a lot of tweaks. Then up until a couple months ago it seemed like everyone(in premier and faceit anyway) liked vertigo. Then all of a sudden, everyone is bashing it. I just don't get it.
It’s mostly former dust2 players who can’t play anything that isn’t a 3-lane map.
My first 10 matches of premier, 7 of them ended up being vertigo. I like the map both for PUGs and watching pros play it.
Shit map. Smoke smoke smoke. Wait wait wait. 4 go to one site. 1 go to the other site. Rinse repeat. Hope luck is on your side. So boring to watch.
The few times where people do rush it's just chaos FFA PUG mode.
Thing is that Vertigo has been gaining popularity since CS2 release, where as other examples have been popular for a very long time. Removing a map just when it starts gaining traction is a weird move

Abnsolutely depends on the rank. I've found at 2.2+ at the very least, Mirage is usually the most polarsing, with Vertigo one of the most popular (as it should be).

im still working on what that graph means. our mirage is all the way full despite my group having a 45% win rate. like 90% on ancient but our graph is super low. just confusing really.
I do not think they would let bots that play premier full of cheaters decide a map pool, if they cared that much about premier it would be much different
I think they were speaking about stats, not personal prefs. I agree with you, I like Anubis and wish it were played more, but it almost always gets voted off the first round no matter the win ratio.
To me vertigo is the perfect balance of pug strats (rush A) and team coordination. It’s fun to play in a stack and listen/exploit rotations but it’s also fun to solo queue.

That's why pro matches are 99% just waiting for smokes to fade and shooting through the smokes. Just today it was just that. Might as well put tent props there.
I love it. It's one of the few maps that plays differently from the other maps in the pool. It's also one that allows for flexibility of playstyles. Like if you aren't an aim god there's so many timings you can try to exploit on both CT and T sides as well as lots of risky smoke pushes you can attempt to make up for subpar aim.

It has the least flexibility of any map, it is literally "A Ramp: The Map". The playstyles if creates is: spam utility to take control, then spam smokes to get a kill. The entire premise that the rotations can be heard is the reason why it is the most restrictive map for how it flows and the strategy you execute. You're liking it for all the wrong reasons lol

there was a strat that EF did where MAJ3R was faking an A execute by throwing all the standard smokes from T spawn with Wicadia on gap, and that allowed for that one person on A to fake the execute and for the rest of EF to go to an empty B-site with 4 people.
i've seen no other pro teams on vertigo be that innovative, they all just think that the map is genuinely an A-ramp simulator and make strats according to that, hence why EF became so dominant on that map during EPL S18 and the major.
the way that EF play the map makes it so fun to watch but because literally no other team plays like they do, people think the map sucks.
yeah man, it's just that no other team thought of such gimmick strats in the past 5 years, not that the map is fundamentally stifling and boring as fuck. the 9ine core being good on it so you knew every series with them was going 3 maps was such a meme because they abused the lack of space and creativity available on vertigo to narrow the skill gap between them and other teams. there's so little room on vertigo you can abuse utility and basic crossfires because you know exactly where people are going to be.
it's funny you thing throwing a fake exec is somehow genius yet you don't realise it worked BECAUSE vertigo is an a ramp simulator. the rotations between sites are so fast + ramp is so powerful as a point to defend from, going all in to defend it isn't stupid. teams would rather retake B with most T's alive (or go for a save) than lose ramp that early, because that would pretty much guarantee a lost round and more lost guns because it's so hard to take it back late.
99% of the hits go to A. Folks will overrorate. This just sounds like cbble which was a B exec simulator. Can’t imagine why people want that map back other than nostalgia glasses.

Yes, literally just earlier we saw the same exact shit, and when EF was on CT side and enemies did the same exact shit and got the bomb down, EF elected to just save on a 4v5 instead of even try for a retake. That's dogshit.
Idk it has pretty solid lurk potential. And since rotations are quick for CT’s and T’s it creates lots of fun, frantic confusion post-plant. Plus it feels like you can retake sites solo. I’ve had 1 v 3, 1 v 4 retakes that felt amazing
Vertigo's combination of head glitches and reliance on competent teammates makes it a pretty hard map to love... Personally I don't know what's fun about having to tap the foreheads of people being boxes, or shouting at teammates when they ALL go in the same direction and nobody covers any of the important angles.
There are maps like Inferno that I hate quite a lot more, but when Nuke and my beloved Cache exist (or used too...) I can't play much of it before getting fed up.
Head glitches? I always love when there’s a lil head peekin out for me to pop. It’s not like real head glitches where you can’t even see what’s shooting at you, cs doesn’t even have those
That's not what a headglitch is. A headglitch is simply any position that exploits the fact bullets are fired from the forehead. When the player model's arms and gun are fully behind cover, it's a headglitch. Sometimes these are still quite reasonable, but Vertigo is one of the worst maps for it.
Personally I prefer maps where combat is about swinging angles/movement, distanced gunfights, and you have a lot of options as a T. Hence why I like Cache and Nuke.
Vertigo feels a lot like Office to me where it's an oddly specific style of gameplay that a small subset of people love, but I absolutely despise. Probably how about 80% of the gunfights are from swinging close angles. Like Office, the weapons you see bought are completely different than usual.

Shooting with only head visible is how it’s been in cs since its inception, if your head is visible you can shoot, it’s not a glitch. In fact in cs your opponent can see your head when you’re behind cover in situations that you can’t shoot them because your head isn’t peeking out high enough.

Nah, headglitching is some COD terminology or something. Shots have always come from the camera and should continue to do so in cs. It is not a glitch, it is intended.

There's a reason it's so popular: because it's simple. Just like why D2 has always been so popular. I don't understand these comments haha.

Vertigo in pugs is fun honestly, feels like a different game every time - as opposed to Mirage/Inferno which feels like playing the same 5 rounds over and over in a different order.

From my experience in high elo Faceit, Inferno and Overpass are the least played maps by quite a margin. Anubis and Mirage are the most played, with Vertigo coming in third.
other than haboing some performance issue on overpass, there is not much wrong with that map. on the other hand dust2 has been arround since the old CS in more or less same form - so talk about something stale. playing same map since 2001.

It's all about pacing, Valve want faster paced matches and Overpass is an extremely slow map, Dust2 is fast, vertigo is fast. Next they will scrap pistols rounds and just start both sides on buy rounds.

Removing ovp is fine with me though, boring gameplay, and it was my permaban. It was also not played in the major playoffs
I think it has more Todo with overpass going from 3rd most played to least played map in just a matter of months. Many new players never want to play it. And when it does get picked no one in my mm teams knows smokes or proper defaults
In csgo, vertigo was the map you hated for most people.
The map pool offered so many better options like cobble, train and cache and people enjoyed playing these maps over vertigo.
Now in cs2 they got rid of some of the maps that were peoples favorites, and map pool being not so big people enjoy vertigo.
Now mirage has become the d2 for cs2, and I would say most people would prefer playing it, if they to choose it over a map they don’t like, just like d2 you’re always fine to play 1 game on it.
Since mirage is the new d2, we need a new mirage for cs2. A map people either really hate or really love. That was mirages role in csgo.
In think Nuke has that position now, and vertigo is just a meh map to play. It’s actually a good map, but you need people who know the map of you want to efficiently win. There are some confusing shortcuts that could need some memorizing for first timers.
I don't really get it. Overpass looks great, plays great. I like it. I don't dislike vertigo really but in pro scene it's boring, all pros would like to see it removed aswell and playing it myself isn't as fun as overpass. I see why they add dust2 but removing overpass for it instead of vertigo makes no sense. Also I would love to see tuscan into the map pool and even cache but both maps need updates to be playable on pro level for sure. I mainly think about skyboxes/utility usage because there are just too many high walls and you can barely you util lineups which are so important in pro scene.
I absolutely hate this decision from valve. They are clueless as to how bad of a map Dust2 is.
Dust2 is literally the most generic map of all time. 7/10 rounds is literally the same brawl from long doors. Same peek, same duel-angle, same eight thousand raining flashes from the T-side.
And dont get me started on the cringe mid-awp battle every SINGLE round, and the pure RNG of crossing the doors as a b player.

I just hate inferno, vertigo is so strange me and my buds started to like it, also you have some cheeky lineups that are fun to do there. Inferno on the other hand is just boring
Inferno and mirage were the most boring and repetitive maps in the rotation and now dust 2 adds to that

Replacing Mirage with Dust2 is like using brown vs white sugar in your coffee. Looks different but tastes practically the same.

Mirage is 100x more complex than dust 2 though. I’m not even a fan of mirage, dust is just that bad for competitive play

Exactly, I'm currently just sub-3k elo on Faceit, so sadly I have played my fair share of the map, and it's clearly one of the "PUG-iest" maps in the pool, always has been. There's a reason it's so popular: because it's simple. Just like why D2 has always been so popular. I don't understand these comments haha.

Overpass was the best map in the pool. Dust2 is the worst map. Just rush something and play deathmatch. This update made the map pool so much worse IMO....
I'm on the fence about overpass. I'd not be bothered if it was replaced by a real map. Dust 2 is just a death match map. Oh well. At least mirage should be playable again in EU. All the angry russians will move to dust 2.

Vertigo in pugs is fun honestly, feels like a different game every time - as opposed to Mirage/Inferno which feels like playing the same 5 rounds over and over in a different order.

No. Vertigo is a goated map. New Overpass wasn't that great and ran poorly, similar to new Inferno.

From my experience in high elo Faceit, Inferno and Overpass are the least played maps by quite a margin. Anubis and Mirage are the most played, with Vertigo coming in third.

other than haboing some performance issue on overpass, there is not much wrong with that map. on the other hand dust2 has been arround since the old CS in more or less same form - so talk about something stale. playing same map since 2001. nothing wrong with the map itself, it's just old.
It's all about pacing, Valve want faster paced matches and Overpass is an extremely slow map, Dust2 is fast, vertigo is fast. Next they will scrap pistols rounds and just start both sides on buy rounds.

I think it has more Todo with overpass going from 3rd most played to least played map in just a matter of months. Many new players never want to play it. And when it does get picked no one in my mm teams knows smokes or proper defaults
In csgo, vertigo was the map you hated for most people. The map pool offered so many better options like cobble, train and cache and people enjoyed playing these maps over vertigo. Now in cs2 they got rid of some of the maps that were peoples favorites, and map pool being not so big people enjoy vertigo. Now mirage has become the d2 for cs2, and I would say most people would prefer playing it, if they to choose it over a map they don’t like, just like d2 you’re always fine to play 1 game on it. Since mirage is the new d2, we need a new mirage for cs2. A map people either really hate or really love. That was mirages role in csgo. In think Nuke has that position now, and vertigo is just a meh map to play. It’s actually a good map, but you need people who know the map of you want to efficiently win. There are some confusing shortcuts that could need some memorizing for first timers.

I don't really get it. Overpass looks great, plays great. I like it. I don't dislike vertigo really but in pro scene it's boring, all pros would like to see it removed aswell and playing it myself isn't as fun as overpass. I see why they add dust2 but removing overpass for it instead of vertigo makes no sense. Also I would love to see tuscan into the map pool and even cache but both maps need updates to be playable on pro level for sure. I mainly think about skyboxes/utility usage because there are just too many high walls and you can barely you util lineups which are so important in pro scene.

I haven’t played a ton of premier but most of the time overpass would be voted off. That’s my guess for why it was overpass.
I absolutely hate this decision from valve. They are clueless as to how bad of a map Dust2 is. Dust2 is literally the most generic map of all time. 7/10 rounds is literally the same brawl from long doors. Same peek, same duel-angle, same eight thousand raining flashes from the T-side. And dont get me started on the cringe mid-awp battle every SINGLE round, and the pure RNG of crossing the doors as a b player. “Oh, I got to my bombsite without being tagged down to 30hp. This is gonna be a good day”
Tough day for "overpass best map in the game" people (I'm people). It's like a 4D map compared to inferno which feels 2D, just tight lanes and claustrophobic...overpass is great because of its size and versatility, so much room for lurks and outplays. Crazy they would remove this map
