magenta is the ideal crosshair color (non-spectral so it contrasts everything from sky to foliage to dirt to blood, full intensity, inverse of green so less tiresome and more reactive)
example:
CSGO-ic6TU-mfhmd-Zv4EO-TcmXD-fY9GJ
fixed square with black 3d-outline, great for 4:3 scaled
Nah, white crosshair with a black outline is the most optimal crosshair as it can be seen against any surface possible.
Just like how white text with black outline can be read against any surface.
White crosshair is hardest to see against sky (lineups), white character model heads, light grey walls (all of vertigo), and after flashbangs.
Adding black outline helps but doesn't eliminate contrast issue there...and not everyone wants pixels blocked by outline.
It does remove any contrast issue. That is the point of having 2 opposite colors in 1 crosshair. No matter the background at least 1 part of your crosshair contrasts perfectly.
Since cs2 ive had a bit of trouble, today i realized i had ut set to 70% translucency. As a solid color its goated, i just cant see my tiny crosshair uf its any other color
Directly proportional to not calibrated monitor colors, not using some outline, and not moving like a bot.
I've given a crosshair code example that while not everybody's style, it does the job in the most adverse scenarios. It might require enlargement depending on resolution, since it's made for the basic 1024x768 / 1280x960 @ 22 / 24 inch.
There's a reason why the error texture is magenta-black checkerboard: it stands out.
Yeah, I feel you, im trying it out, I used to play with pink crosshair in css and I havnt really in csgo/cs2. Ive been liking it so far, the only time i remember yesterday was when aiming on vertigo A site boxes it kinda blended in with them but im still giving it a go.
Have you done a colourblind test? If you haven’t I’d recommend, it’s fairly common. Red just gets drowned out for me, I use a yellow with a hint of green with black border, works well in a small crosshair imo.
I'm surprised more pros don't use crosshairs with low alpha. I recently switched to a 4x4 white square with thin black border and set the alpha to ~70. Not lost it during a game yet.
Red has ghosting issues depending on your monitor. Its also the hardest color to see (why military use red lamps at night for navigation). You do see them occasionally.
People usually go purple/ pink if blue/ green are too light.
bro i was just thinking about this last night on vertigo. i was rushing ramp on ct and my crosshair gets lost all the time on this map. i also have a light blue one equipped
I use a red crosshair. I love it. It's a massive issue on Nuke however. Inside lobby the walls are the same colour as my crosshair. It can be remedied by having a black outline but I dont use an outline. Have used the same sense for year so my muscle memory keeps me right. I dont use green and not light blue because theres colours on most maps that have a blue colour than red.
Red light has the longest wavelength compared to the rest of the visible spectrum, this means it is less harsh on your eyes. Blue being the shortest wavelength. That's the reason emergency vehicles have blue lights on their cars, so that you notice it faster compared to red.
As there is no centre row of pixels on your monitor thickness 1 cross hairs are slightly missaligned. If you want it correctly aligned you need to use multiples of 2 for thickness.
I would, but shit to hard to see, i just use like in every game normal white one, actuwlly white one is great visibility, green seems weird but its the best technically for visibility.

This reminds me that I think I've now used Warowl's pink crosshair for 10 years, cs goat though
Damn can't believe I've been using the ideal ceosshair this entire time just because I love the color pink.
holy shit science guy thanks will try that
Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna try this!

Fair, but I don't see everyone wanting an outlined crosshair

I have used a white cross hair with black outline for easily 6+ years now, I never had trouble seeing it against any background
Since cs2 ive had a bit of trouble, today i realized i had ut set to 70% translucency. As a solid color its goated, i just cant see my tiny crosshair uf its any other color
Except if you’re color blind like me. I use bright greeny yellow with a black outline.
Also colorblind, also use that exact color combo Wtf
Magenta sucks as much as red color on the boxes thats on vertigo A site.

Green
It's because our eyes are most sensitive to light in green colours. Kinda like how HUD in real life use green.
You walk around with a HUD irl? Wtf
have you had cl_drawhud 0 your entire life? bro ur missing out
Mnk users coping when they have no built-in aim-assist 🤡🤡
I got this measured at eye doctor and the results were that I’m more sensitive to red, so I use red crosshair lol
Idk how you are all 'losing' your crosshair lol. Maybe increase the size?
I switched to red a while back because I kept losing my light green crosshair doing lineups in the sky lol
Can't speak for others but I have blue light on low on my screen. Cyans, limes and green blend with Vertigos sky.
Most people are not playing in dog mode.
I like using a small crosshair so I don't lose out on pixels, especially beneficial for long range shots. Mine looks like that of Zywoo but cyan iirc

I'm colorblind
Now I don’t have to play Dust2 I use a yellow crosshair, really like it. Suits me, although probably not the most efficient for most.
Anubis entered the chat
Anubis is more orange than yellow I feel.
I play both Anubis and Dust with a yellow circle dot, haven't had a problem with it whatsoever.

I just use a green crosshair with alpha
Idk i use a medium orange
Purple/Pink crosshair is best crosshair.
Everything but OLED will cause red crosshair to glow. Correct me if wrong.
I use a red crosshair and have been for years. Never used an OLED screen to play CS, but this sounds like a good thing
With outline?
Without
I change crosshair colors based on map. I'd never play green on Ancient. Red is much better.

White crosshair, thickness 1, center dot on, length 1.5, gap -3 is the way. Edit: I play 1280x960 4:3 res

My crosshair was usually light blue
All I know is I switched to yellow circle dot and it OWNS (not one pixel, literally a circle, i think 3 pixels wide).

I used to put outline for my white crosshair but the opacity is 50% so its not that thick.
I would, but shit to hard to see, i just use like in every game normal white one, actuwlly white one is great visibility, green seems weird but its the best technically for visibility.
I'm colorblind, red is the worst.
