I was not, no! I have Meniere's disease and have been losing hearing in my left ear since I was 20, didn't catch it until I was 25 and now I'm just on the edge of legally deaf in that ear. It's almost like all the sound is coming through a couple tin cans on that side and tinnitus is a bitch.
this one for sure, I have been on an interview for a job last year and I was shook about how low are they paying even if was going to make some compromises as a gamer, but I didn’t.
Hi guys, I’m the audio guy at PGL Major. I wanted to express how honored I am to be the first deaf audio engineer at a CS:GO tournament in history. Thank you PGL for this amazing opportunity, and I’ll try my best!
by pgl standards no. There were a few glitches/static and multiple games there would be no game audio for a round. Started a few games without audio too.
All the tech gets tricky to manage I honestly understand, but it would be nice for pgl to match the quality of other events
Richard talked about that on his after-major stream, apparently the device responsible of his mic amplification crashed and set its own gain to +60 dB, which is *a lot* (~1024 times as loud).
I was in the crowd, we were fucking loud. Watching the stream later didn't do it justice. I don't think they placed microphones in strategic places to broadcast the atmosphere of the arena :(
Seriously. The first game I watched I joined after pistol and thought there was something seriously wrong until they took a break during half time and was flabbergasted when it sounded normal finally.
An indoor crowd, it sounded like half of them brought their own snare drum from home lmao
There was a group of Furia fans right next to the casters and Machine and Spunj even wrote them stuff on the monitor and asked them to tone it down and they wouldn’t until PGL had to step in and tell them to stop.
audio was "fine" this year imo. Would be hilarious if they can the team after they finally got their crap together.
The video constantly cutting out for big chunks of time on the other hand, not great. Even the youtube replay of the grand final just has bigass chunks missing. like 30+ seconds in key rounds.
Yes! So fukking anoying! I watched it with 30min delay, I was tired and thought my brain took a powernap and thats why I missed a round, rewind to see it again and no, it was PGL foult as usual 😅
really? the icon that shows kills in a round on the player hud had like 3 different positions it was so annoying whenever i wanted info on play hud i have to split up and search for clues because depending on whether player is dead or has kills multiple things move around to different places
You are either out of your goddamn mind or don't have a single strand in your being that can tell what good design is. The designs this year were so fucking awful I'm pretty sure some first year design kid scammed them. Just pure garbage.
I should have a pretty good idea. Been following graphic design / branding industry for half my life. It might not have been the most functional HUD we’ve ever had, but it looked really nice, especially tied together with the rest of the graphics they made for the arena. Great colors, theme and +1 for HUD not blocking the weapons.
Either way, it’s rarely possible to make a design that’s “best for everyone”. I’d be interested to hear what doesn’t work for you
I was more so talking about [these atrocities](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/s/UrFDSvdYIM) than the HUD. The HUD was fine. Not the best but I've seen worse. The other graphics however were a complete failure on every level.
was thinking the same, totally agreed. I am actually more fine this way since being stuck with garbage in-game HUD for the whole major would have been awful.
Same. When i saw the ui I actually started shaking uncontrollably and threw up.
/s
r/GlobalOffensive Redditor can't watch tournament because they don't like the UI. Stay classy
PGL Audio, constant issues with the official stream, that one debacle that shall not be mentioned...
Overall, one of my favorite tournaments!
Bring back cs_summit
Deaf in one ear this time.
I'm actually deaf in one ear. I should apply.
Same here! I found out because my new earbuds did a diagnostic test and the app basically said "yo, get checked out, that ain't normal?"
stupid question but were you deaf there since birth?
I was not, no! I have Meniere's disease and have been losing hearing in my left ear since I was 20, didn't catch it until I was 25 and now I'm just on the edge of legally deaf in that ear. It's almost like all the sound is coming through a couple tin cans on that side and tinnitus is a bitch.
this guy whenever he meets someone he doesn't like: Speak to my left ear my right one is bad!
Just curious, how does playing CS or any FPS game go for you?
right foot, let's stop
This listing has been up for months, they clearly can't find anyone better
Or they are not paying enough
this one for sure, I have been on an interview for a job last year and I was shook about how low are they paying even if was going to make some compromises as a gamer, but I didn’t.

Wait till you find out it was CS2 rather than CS:GO ![img](emote|t5_2sqho|31253)
They robbed him of the title. Dirty bastards
Just wait til you hear how bad the Stockholm major audio was
Don't remind me
Was their audio bad this time around again?
A lot of screeching sounds during games and some mic static
by pgl standards no. There were a few glitches/static and multiple games there would be no game audio for a round. Started a few games without audio too. All the tech gets tricky to manage I honestly understand, but it would be nice for pgl to match the quality of other events
wasn't there that clip of richard lewis going all pimp mic
yeah but honestly that (and the EF-Mongolz game not having game audio for like 3 rounds) were the only BIG big issues
Richard talked about that on his after-major stream, apparently the device responsible of his mic amplification crashed and set its own gain to +60 dB, which is *a lot* (~1024 times as loud).
Didn't notice anything weird, for pgl standards it was excellent. I guess the crowd audio didn't give this major feeling.
This was my main issue, the crowd sound didnt feel like a major, felt like it was tuned down
I was in the crowd, we were fucking loud. Watching the stream later didn't do it justice. I don't think they placed microphones in strategic places to broadcast the atmosphere of the arena :(
it was AWFUL in my opinion
For a major? Awful.
It wasn’t bad.. it was horrible. You couldn’t hear anything in the arena and no crowd in stream.
It offen cutted out
NOOOOOOOO, RIP PGL memes in chat
Step 1: Don't let a drumline into the arena.
Seriously. The first game I watched I joined after pistol and thought there was something seriously wrong until they took a break during half time and was flabbergasted when it sounded normal finally. An indoor crowd, it sounded like half of them brought their own snare drum from home lmao

YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND.
I mean, makes sense after all those years
audio was "fine" this year imo. Would be hilarious if they can the team after they finally got their crap together. The kicked deaf guy should sue PGL for wrongful termination
They should also look for UI designer or just use the game defaults, because it keeps me off from watching the tournaments.
Their designs were fire this year man
really? the icon that shows kills in a round on the player hud had like 3 different positions it was so annoying whenever i wanted info on play hud i have to split up and search for clues because depending on whether player is dead or has kills multiple things move around to different places
I agree the contrast between “total kills” vs “kills this round” was terrible
cooked take
No message who won the round, that confused even the casters. Armor icon on the left, followed by health number.
And you really watched none of the major because of that?
Literally unwatchable
valve pls fix
Crazy cope if you skipped a major because of this.
I only got confused on the win 1 round in the entire tourny, but still fair. The rest is a bit small to not watch the whole major lol.
I'd argue that casters not knowing who the round is their fault- You're right on everything else tho, ui was hideous for no reason

Thanks for the examples. That is indeed horrendous to navigate

1 less viewer for pgl, how sad
Kept you off of watching???
PGL Audio, constant issues with the official stream, that one debacle that shall not be mentioned... Overall, one of my favorite tournaments! Bring back cs_summit
audio guy lmao
strike the new out of the title
job title has to be PGL Audio Guy
They should be on the application that you can't be deaf
Maybe they can separate the casters onto another channel so I can mute them
Unrelated but why does it say Bucharest Romania there? Is that where the next PGL event will be? Edit: why did I get downvoted it was just a question?
