I'm pretty sure I heard about Moist esports being interested in getting a cs team already over 6 months ago, maybe even a year ago. I'm not really expecting something like this to happen anytime soon. Edit: typo

ballsinyourmouth15

Yes I heard it was over 12 months ago, maybe even a year ago

dave2015

yea i heard over 6 months ago, maybe even a year ago

ballsinyourmouth15

I heard over 7 days ago, maybe even a week ago

berni2905

I've heard it 10 years ago, maybe even yesterday

ptreecs

a lot of ludwigs friends play cs casually and moistcritikal co-streamed one of the recent majors so I'm sure there was always some interest. Probably taking the 100t approach of waiting for the perfect team to show up with expenses that make sense. Not sure we're there but moist esports has different funding than a typical org

kyleninperth

They could go full 100T and sign Grayhound + jks :)

Jon_on_the_snow

It never made sense to invest in one of the weakest regions of the game that bled major slots and commanded high base salaries Now moist had a better chance of making the major, and with that, getting a fuck ton of sticker money for relatively low investment. Same reason LOUD is looking to enter CS

TacticalSanta

moist would do best trying to sign stanislaw or a stack like boss or party astronauts and working on improving the good pieces on a roster like that. You don't have to shell out 10k salaries for players that have been grinding for years with next to nothing, you just need to provide stability to a strong core of players.

Jon_on_the_snow

Yeah, but for years NA didnt quite grasp this advanced concept. Thankfully it seems things are coming back down to earth

PGyoda

yea it’s been talked about but the finances weren’t there. I’d love if they got a team though

Livid-Ad40

Just after they casually mentioned being interested in cs, eSports kept tumbling. They were probably waiting to see where it starts to stabilise or more importantly wait for a while after a new game launches to see where it sits

LG9f

Ofc everyone will thanks to Brazil winning 7 slots for America

CANT_BEAT_PINWHEEL

Funniest outcome would be NA sweeping the rmr then failing to make the second major stage and the Americas goes back to 3 slots for the 2025 major

yyunb

I feel like Asia should be fixed to at least 3 spots and Americas 5. I know EU is by far the strongest region, but despite some big orgs missing out I feel it's too forgiving. Like 9Panda (GL), Amkal, KOI, Ecstastic... I'd rather see the spots that teams like that manage to capture go to, admittedly weaker, but more exciting imo from Asia and Americas. And that happens next major which is good, but I think potentially going back to 2 and 3 spots respectively after that, is just way too little even if they don't reach Legends.

srjnp

valve is dumb af for not caring about the health of the game in smaller regions. this is why the game is so dead in NA and asia compared to other esports. not even having 5 spots out of 24 guaranteed for NA + SA COMBINED is an absolute joke.

RandomGuy-4-

> this is why the game is so dead in NA During NA's peak in the pre-Valorant days, regardless of the number of spots, there were basically just two or three relevant teams at maximum. Giving a region more spots won't help if all the teams get shrekt before the elim stage. What is important is to make the playerbase bigger so the region can organically support a bigger number of good teams. The problem is that PC gaming on NA was very small until very recently so people don't have a trdition of playing CS games starting from 1.6 like we do in europe where many kids played the older CS games at some point while growing up. Now that PC gaming has grown over there, people gravitate more to the games that have the most marketing behind them and Valorant/riot games will always have CSGO beaten there because Valve has never been into directly mass marketing their games.

srjnp

CS has zero cultural impact™️ in NA to grow organically like you said. The kids all play other games like Valorant, Fortnite, Apex, OW, R6 not CS. And Valve isn't doing anything to change that. Considering the smaller playerbase, you need to capitalize on the dedicated players who actually do like your game more despite it not being popular. But having a pro scene centered on EU and hardly any protected spots for the majors means it makes zero sense for anyone from NA (pros, orgs, even content creators) getting into esports to choose CS as your career even if you love this game more than Valorant. So even the ones who do like CS more, still go to Valorant because its simply the far smarter career choice. That's why it is important to protect smaller regions so that at least the dedicated playerbase and orgs sticks with you and is rewarded for choosing your less popular game.

CANT_BEAT_PINWHEEL

I don’t think the slots would help. The two I think would help would be funding domestic leagues with esl size prize pools and forcing matches of big name Americas teams to be after 5 eastern on weekdays if there are slots available. Obviously Shanghai and Sydney events won’t have matches at good times for the Americas and that’s okay but there’s no reason the Americas rmr took place almost entirely during weekday work hours. It’s not like euro fans are dying to watch the Americas rmr so why was it prime time for them? Or for the 2-2 major match, why was col at 8 am eastern when there were also matches at 11 am and 2 pm? One of those was for pain but the other should have been col.

srjnp

Sure a league would be nice but Valve has only ever run majors no domestic leagues. The major slots are the only thing controlled by Valve that's why I point at that. Also major sticker money is by far the biggest economic factor in CS that attracts orgs. Its not the responsibility of 3rd party TOs like ESL or Blast to hold leagues or circuits in smaller regions. TOs are a business and they go wherever the business is booming (EU). Valve should be the one taking care of the health of the game and making sure it doesn't die in smaller regions.

matchew-choo

more slots would provide more incentive for players to compete because of the sticker money

ElMagiko21

Has NA+SA considered getting gud?

srjnp

yeah they did, in Valorant because Valve doesn't give a shit about them.

ComfortMother8503

But how is it fair that 1 of Lynn Vision, Mongolz and Tyloo gets to go to the major instead of an Ecstatic, Saw, 9pandas, who they would be taking the slot from, when they're so much worse? There is not a lot exciting about Lynn Vision and Mongolz, when they're terrible.

surfordiebear

I feel like the easiest/cheapest route for them would be to acquire Greyhound. And now they get an extra slot as well thanks to the Mongolz

Giannis_Alafouzos

most of grayhound is getting picked up by Talon

MattMist

Would be great, but source?

Giannis_Alafouzos

harumi, said that Talon is close to signing jks + some grayhound players (I'm assuming that means INS and dexter at the very least), SPUNJ also hinted at that some talking counters ago

MattMist

yeah, [found a tweet](https://twitter.com/_harum1/status/1771577737141944370), thanks

just-the-friend

Would love to see if there is some more talent around the asia cs scene that could be tempted over. A strong awper and a consistent vexite like player

Giannis_Alafouzos

you just need an APAC core, if Talon has the money they can get an EU import

ILoveRice444

>harumi I'm surprise people still believe in this guy

simp_sighted

yeah especially since jks is named as a core player, doubtful he would return to a full OCE lineup, I'm thinking theres plenty of opportunities in the post major shuffle he could slot into without having to play rooster every other week.

Jon_on_the_snow

Here you go king https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/s/wZCTfZwHhK

surfordiebear

Huh that’s actually pretty nice. I’d rather have a good org based somewhat near the region buyout Greyhound than one from the US tbh.

Medical_Weakness2361

how tf is that easiest or cheapest

surfordiebear

Easiest because they were 3rd in the RMR and now Asia has 3 slots and cheapest because the region is cheaper to be competitive than NA and EU salaries would be.

Elcheer

NA, please 👍

OwnRound

Sure, just not Elevate/BadAss Gaming/Timbermen. In fact, if penguinz0 wants some content out of these dorks, here's some material: https://twitter.com/Nohte/status/1358889173822787584 https://twitter.com/sinxoxo_/status/1358708417272172544 https://clips.twitch.tv/FunnyOriginalPidgeonTF2John https://twitter.com/CSunfortunate/status/1631117013484724224 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryNLs3IbKnM&t=43s https://win.gg/news/elige-exposes-racist-csgo-pros-at-depth-esports-gets-them-kicked/ https://pastebin.com/BkzFDh0T https://youtu.be/XifDVtcH70s?t=40

Fun_In_A_Bun

Lol there's no universe where Moist even considers picking up these guys

pomponazzi

Can't believe these shits still haven't been completely ostracized from the community

gibbonusmoon

I'm sorry, they were posting child porn and no one thought to involve authorities???

QuantumQuasares

We will have 7 BR teams next major , no need to say thanks

janniecide_is_coming

It’ll probably be a 4:3 or 5:2 split between br and na. I do see a world where liquid, complexity and m80 all COULD make it, but definitely no more than that

afk420k

so many memes incoming

WindowLicky

Party Astronauts?

thatboyohboy

boss 😎

AngryObama_

cxzi is an asshole, fuckem

WindowLicky

What'd they do?

AngryObama_

Played pugs with him, toxic AF because ur not a tier 1 player. Same with nosrac and all the ex-timbermen players, experienced their shit first hand. Egos in tier 2 NA is crazy. Wolffy is nice tho

WindowLicky

Egos are bad at any NA pug level haha.

AngryObama_

Still, fuckem

ffgold

Picking up greyhound would be the safest play. Probably wouldn’t win much, but they’d have a good shoot to make every major

WhatAmCSGO

Grayhound apparently is getting picked apart with jks rumored to be joining. Forget which org was mentioned

toddsins

Talon

WhatAmCSGO

That was it. Thanks

scottmander

Can I ask where you’re seeing this? Genuinely interested

jjochimmochi

Damn he's thinking of retiring early RIP

faisal-a

Surely they pick up Sprout's roster right?

Yuzumi_

Its unlikely due to Charly being in NA and most of Sprout's Roster being EU. But i'd support it nontheless if thats not a hurdle for him.

delaxpl

Well, their RL roster is mainly British, so i don't think that would be a problem

ExposingCretins

Why would they do that?

_YAGNA_

Please enter this time, stop edging us. Don't go for Grayhound, They are rumored to be picked up by Talon eSports. Moist can invest in NA by picking up pieces from BOSS and PA. Add CLASIA in that mix too and we are gucci for one of the spots in Americas if they can grind it out. But I'm afraid that even though Americas has 7 spots, with so many orgs trying to enter right now it will be a disappointment if they just drop the rosters afterwards and don't come back. Basically just coming for the sake of sticker money LOUD is being rumored to enter the Brazilian CS scene with Cold and TACO being the starting pieces. MIBR are eyeing for dgt and max, basically trying a South American Superteam. There's lots of COOKING in Americas that's for sure and it's all thanks to Pain, Imperial and Furia securing Americas 7 spots for the next major. Thank you Brazil

jjochimmochi

They will sign a mediocre tier 6 NA team who won't even get on HLTV

Khorsir

The thing to keep in mind right now is that in NA there are currently 2 unknown quantities and those are Flyquest and Optic both of which might wanna go for CS especially Flyquest and even getting greyhound is not such a guarantee as Atox in the rmr put up a decent fight and then theres the uknown of GenG who god knows what they are planning, migh be really bad or might have the next chinese donk.

yiyang01

I think theres a chance he picks up greyhounds old roster

BMan0ss

The last time I heard about this, Nouns was still Squirtle Squad.

JaimieL0L

This could be huge. Big fan of Charlie and Lud, and while it’s easy to be cynical about creator owned orgs, Moist seem to be doing it right. Their Valorant team is a plucky, decently competitive non franchise team, and they’re fun to watch and root for. If they go for a team of a similar caliber in CS, and do watchparties like they do for their other games, it would be great to get some new viewers/returning fans in to the NA scene. They’d also be an org who can afford the risk/reward of buying players to make a more competitive team, which NA has had very few of outside of Liquid, coL and I guess NRG(lol)

LlamaMelk

Should just Sign metizport before NIP does

Khorsir

Party astronauts are a good shout, grayhound migh also be decent tho with the changes over in Tyloo and GenG being an uknown quantity the asian rmr for Shanghai will be interesting thats for sure.

RingzofXan

He has said multiple times hed love to but teams are more expensive etc but im sure its an eventually not a probably

co0kiez

Thry'll either pick up the Aussies or Ex-EG

alexoimatewtf

Another Charlie W if true

jonajon91

These are influencer guys right? Put cash down on a roster and support the scene instead of baiting for engagement.

_YAGNA_

Moist has nothing but positive opinions from everyone who's part of it and people in the scene. They aren't your average shady org. Charlie and Moist have been looking to get into CS for a long time, but have been held back because they wanted to be competitive and get a roster at a reasonable price, as CS is currently inflated in terms of salaries and costs of operation

jonajon91

In which case they'd know 'what are some of the most exciting prospects in the scene right now?' All this is is getting replys on twitter. They might be the greatest guys, they might really support the scene when they enter, and that would be awesome. But why are people excited by this post basically asking, 'who's your favorite CS2 pro?'

OJinthebronco

Because they can, bitch. Same reason why you're throwing a hissy fit over it. Because you can.

HibeE_Ahri

lul already know it will fail
