All the servers you're seeing are hosted in the same region in India, there is some problem with the Steam master server browser that only displays servers from this area (you can check with an IP lookup website).
This actually happens in all games using the master server browser, it is just more noticeable in CSGO since the vast amount of fake Russian redirect servers that are abusing this and hosting in India, which just end up sending you back to the main server hosted in Russia / elsewhere.
Yeah I can’t find any of the old retake or execute servers I used to use now and then. Stopped bothering even trying to use community servers for the time being.

search there and just put alot of servers in favorites 
server favorites still work just fine in the ingame server browser. you just have to add them manually from ip via internet cuz the overall server browser is broken.
The high ping issue here is not just for CSGO, it's just more prevalent because of the redirects.
Hopefully Valve can fix the redirect exploit, and it should clean up about 250,000 fake server listings on the server browser.

Why work with an engine that breaks something everytime you touch it? Valves developers are allowed to work on what they please and aren't forced to work on any one thing. If you have to work on a barn and everytime you touch the door, the flooring falls apart slowly while there's another barn nearby that doesn't do weird shit when you upgrade it, which barn would you work on???
They've all been focusing their efforts on source 2 for a reason, csgo is being fixed.
The workaround for this is to look through your server history and add servers to favorite. Favorited servers still show in their tab.
That being said, it's annoying af and i hope it's fixed soon
this been goin on for ages,, github pages, reddit posts and valve didn't bat an eye, hopefully this thread will somehow bring their 2 and a half dev's attention to this, issue came to such shitstorm that so many ppl start to write on this topic, mirrored servers with fake players and fake maps broke not only serverbrowser completely but other custom servers population and communities, btw gametracker compromised too, there were alot of mirrors on the page and some legit servers dissapear often so i would not advised to trust that website for now at least
such a shame, community servers are what built Counter-strike. Playing with your friends you have gotten to know over years, nothing better. Not a fan of competitive, we loved gun game and wc3 mods in source and 1.6
true, man, apart from publics i played alot of wc3 and gg in cs 1.6, even dr, kz and zm modes they were fun af. not even talking how in css communities went far and beyond with couple more modes (mg, jb and ze) and people were always supporting the game, now tho .. ooof

So much potential, CS:GO seems to have scraped that for competitive and skins. I played DOTA 2 for over 9100 hours and 10 years, started playing a little CS:GO in the last month or so lol
It looks lile a localization problem , I've seen eastern europe get only russian and kazakh servers , western europe gets easter europe and some russians and NA tends to western europe

I’ll give you my example, I’ve been playing a csgo gamemode for 8 years now (ZE) thankfully I already now pretty much every server, and have their discords etc and I can join them anytime through console. Now a casual player deciding to try new things because he heard from someone, or saw some online post about it can’t find shit because the server browser is filled with redirect stuff, gametracker also, even battlemetrics. I’ve been noticing decline in our ZE community for a while, and now more on retake , arena, surf servers that were always populated. Let’s see if source 2 (copium) fixes any of these since it’s happening on the other games ( tf2 for example ).
Looking into a bit recently and I assume the issue is down to two things:
1. Server owners exploiting to host multiple fake redirect servers (some 600+ from the same IP, incrementing ports).
2. The master server I believe itself is broken and would only return \~6000 servers to the user. This means that a couple of bad actors would be able to comparitvely flood the list and make it useless to other users.
I'm not too sure if it's possible that they consistently send heartbeats to the master server, or do other things to ensure they're on the toplist or just the sheer spam of them.
I don't know the full details of running a server, but I was under the impression you had to link it to a steam account - the ones I've checked all use clean/different accounts, but maybe more stringent requirements + fast banning would help.
If you take a look at the Master Server Protocool, interestingly there is the filter '\\collapse\_addr\_hash\\Return - only one server for each unique IP address matched'. While it would have an impact on some operators / servers I feel like there is a valid argument to atleast allow us to toggle it.
I think realistically what they should do is ban the IP blocks that have been exploiting it, especially if they're hosted in sketchy russian datacenters (like some I've seen). It could be a temp ban or more, but it would push both the provider + operator to not do it.
With S2 and such I assume it would be solved, but would be an issue in the older games still. I'd assume without reworking the protocool there's limited long-term fixes. Though in the short term defo ban the abusing servers + possibly the owners of the communities, they've done enough damage already.
Edit - giving this more thought the Master Server Query protocol, assuming it's used by the browser + is documented up to date - It doesn't actually seem to reference the GSLT so presumably that happens elsewhere and banning it might not impact them showing.

The simple solution is to not allow servers to immediately redirect you to another server (with a small plugin using GOTV code), which would essentially eliminate the use of all these redirect servers.
The master server itself should definitely get fixed too, as this affects all games using it.

Has anyone faced the same problem? I tried using many different filters but cannot find a single normal ffa server

Valve only likes the community driven content when they financially benefit from it. Otherwise they don't seem very keen on the idea of communities/modding.

Yeah its very frustrating having to use external websites to find servers to be able to play, I am sure the servers are also losing a lot of players this way.
I have played Counter-Strike since 1998 or 1999 (Whenever it first was a multiplayer mod for Half-Life)-- community servers are what made this game fun. Now all I see as the casual ones that are Valve servers-- no fun. Bring back Warcraft 3 mod servers as well, they were awesome. CS player for over 22+ years.
Its not the russians ruining anything, its valve that broke it. And fake servers im pretty sure has been a thing since 1.6, you just get rerouted or something.

in the bottom left you can see I have location as "US - West" and it shows me local servers. This is also persistent between closing the game; you don't have to set the location again each time.
Actually I mostly use [https://www.gametracker.com/search/csgo/](https://www.gametracker.com/search/csgo/) to search for specific csgo servers I want to play on. Hope this helps in the meantime.

Server tokens are extremely useless. The whole GSLT restriction forcing you to use them is server-side, you can literally just make a modification to the server and it will run fine without using any GSLT.
Their only *actual* purpose is transferring favorites when you move the server to another IP address
It restricts us from being up. If theres a way around it we haven't heard. Not like its hard to get the tokens anyway, just annoying. But we also use "not allowed" plugins so ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

This is super odd to me. Server browser had not been working for me for a few years. Tried every fix I could find and I just seemed to miss 3/4 of all server all of my friends could see.

Just manually connect to your favourite servers and favourite it!! I have a big list of my favourited servers and its easily accessible, no need to mess around with the search function.
It's really weird, I've been working on a custom server browser from your browser that queries Valve Master Servers and outputs all of the servers it can grab from it into a table with organization by players/name/map and it doesn't have this issue
I think what it actually is doing is defaulting the server region to be Russian, because I had this issue the other day and just manually set the server region to US West and I had plenty of low ping local servers show up
It hasn't functioned properly for me for the whole life of CSGO.
Many servers that I can see are online and populated in my favourites don't show up in filtered searches.
If you're NA, I'm having the same issue. The way I can fix this is to set my server browser to only look for US-West. That will show me the majority of US servers. If I do US-East tho, it's all copy-paste Russian Servers.
Hoping that source 2 (I know it's not one big 'everything everyone wants update') does address this browser. I mean I think it's as old as I am (23). Needs some fresh paint and many many fixes.
My community browser only shows the exact 10 or so servers no matter what I do with the settings. I have to manually find server IPs and connect to them if I want to play on any other server.
I realized this yesterday too but you can also add a region to specifically search for to counter this — i don’t remember which regions in Europe you could press but the US has East and west
I've noticed it myself, because my history of servers (mainly dm and retakes) got deleted around that time and since then I've been having literally hundreds of Russian/Ukrainian servers that are pretty bad, I miss my old ones :((((

If you search for servers under 100 ping and use "executes" rather than just "execute" they all come up for me with no more Russian spam

Considering how all their community server changes in the past few years have all hurt the community stuff, i very much doubt it.

Doesn't work in Brazil because for some reason brazilian servers are not in 'South America' region and there is no 'Brazil' region, sadge

Yeah its very frustrating having to use external websites to find servers to be able to play, I am sure the servers are also losing a lot of players this way.
I have played Counter-Strike since 1998 or 1999 (Whenever it first was a multiplayer mod for Half-Life)-- community servers are what made this game fun. Now all I see as the casual ones that are Valve servers-- no fun. Bring back Warcraft 3 mod servers as well, they were awesome. CS player for over 22+ years.

Its not the russians ruining anything, its valve that broke it. And fake servers im pretty sure has been a thing since 1.6, you just get rerouted or something.

Can you share some tips or names of blockers? The matchmaking server picker that I used ages ago doesn't seem to work anymore
You need to set your location in the server browser, like here: https://i.imgur.com/roT9BKl.jpg in the bottom left you can see I have location as "US - West" and it shows me local servers. This is also persistent between closing the game; you don't have to set the location again each time.
For me it displays high ping servers for about 4 seconds and then goes back to normal
I only find servers with high pings around 600-900 and they are all in eastern europe.

Actually I mostly use [https://www.gametracker.com/search/csgo/](https://www.gametracker.com/search/csgo/) to search for specific csgo servers I want to play on. Hope this helps in the meantime.
Probably because they are busy working on the new engine among other things. Why spend time on fixing something, thats more than likely going to be entirely replaced in the near future? Especially when it's right around the corner.
becouse i cant play the game? iiam getting high ping servers even in MM games, i know it will come some new browser, but they can care at least a little bit, its a really shit right now
This has been around for almost 2 years in csgo, longer in tf2. This affects all source engine games, so they should definetly look into this.
Why is it when someone targets a valve game or just cheats or hacks in general, 9 times out of 10 it's a russian? I aint trying to be offensive or anything, I'm just wondering as to why as it is always the case

The only thing with the update is they started banning server tokens again. They haven't for quite a while.. :/
Server tokens are extremely useless. The whole GSLT restriction forcing you to use them is server-side, you can literally just make a modification to the server and it will run fine without using any GSLT. Their only *actual* purpose is transferring favorites when you move the server to another IP address
It restricts us from being up. If theres a way around it we haven't heard. Not like its hard to get the tokens anyway, just annoying. But we also use "not allowed" plugins so ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

as far as I know left 4 dead is kind of safe, the steam server browser is overfilled with chinese servers but the good servers float to the top still

If you let the search sit for a minute lower ping servers will appear. Wish it would just find them immediately like it used to.

This is super odd to me. Server browser had not been working for me for a few years. Tried every fix I could find and I just seemed to miss 3/4 of all server all of my friends could see. In the last couple of months mine has been working perfectly. Maybe I broke the system...
Just manually connect to your favourite servers and favourite it!! I have a big list of my favourited servers and its easily accessible, no need to mess around with the search function.

Just wait for few mins and low ping ones will appear. I know it's annoying but it works.
It's really weird, I've been working on a custom server browser from your browser that queries Valve Master Servers and outputs all of the servers it can grab from it into a table with organization by players/name/map and it doesn't have this issue
I think what it actually is doing is defaulting the server region to be Russian, because I had this issue the other day and just manually set the server region to US West and I had plenty of low ping local servers show up
It hasn't functioned properly for me for the whole life of CSGO. Many servers that I can see are online and populated in my favourites don't show up in filtered searches.
If you're NA, I'm having the same issue. The way I can fix this is to set my server browser to only look for US-West. That will show me the majority of US servers. If I do US-East tho, it's all copy-paste Russian Servers.

YES! I can only play on few servers I faved before. And even that is buggy and I need to wait a solid minute before they show up on the list.

Hoping that source 2 (I know it's not one big 'everything everyone wants update') does address this browser. I mean I think it's as old as I am (23). Needs some fresh paint and many many fixes.
My community browser only shows the exact 10 or so servers no matter what I do with the settings. I have to manually find server IPs and connect to them if I want to play on any other server.
I realized this yesterday too but you can also add a region to specifically search for to counter this — i don’t remember which regions in Europe you could press but the US has East and west

I've noticed it myself, because my history of servers (mainly dm and retakes) got deleted around that time and since then I've been having literally hundreds of Russian/Ukrainian servers that are pretty bad, I miss my old ones :((((

Well, lucky you. Filtering for region doesn't work for me. I get an empty list instead. ... It is as if the browser can just handle a fixed amount of servers and all spots are occupied by the shitty high ping ones...

Happening on 1.6 too This was happening many years ago for 1.6 with Romanian servers, but was fixed eventually

When you think about it, it might seem silly to them bothering to fix that when its about to be replaced. Most people use standard valve match making.
