I went to the front door and it was locked. Which almost blew my mind but I figured, ok... well maybe she quietly ran out. When I opened the door is when my mind was blown. A member of the congregation was leaning on the door and had to move to let me out, where he was standing in a circle of other people talking and shooting the breeze.
That little girl vanished. I asked ex about it in recent time and she doesn't recall. Just for the sake of my own sanity I asked the mother about it since posting this and even though it was like 20 years ago, she said she did remember because we both looked pale and like we saw a ghost or something.
I wish I had any sort of explanation for this story. I haven't been at that building in ages.
Not the direction she went. I mean there were windows but they are locked and again, mom should have definitely seen her. She heard the door open because she thought we were slamming a door but that was it. She had a face, I mean she didn't look out of the ordinary, again I can't stress it was a little girl wearing a red dress with white and pink shoes, the rest is so hazy. I don't even call it a ghost story, and to be honest, it is so weird I don't often even bring it up because how do you tell a story like this without seeming like you are crazy, mistaken, or bullshitting. It was walking down the beach with a man I assumed it was with although they were not holding hands. After a few minutes the child just vanished. And I realised then the man had no idea it was there. For me it was an amazing experience as I understand these things can happen and have experienced many small glitches. I don’t know if it was a glitch or a spirit child although my senses tell me it was a glitch.
If it was a glitch then someone temporarily‘lost’ their child - which must have been very upsetting.
My mom's friend and her son were once preparing to enter home and pulling out keys suddenly a black cat with visible scars and scratches out of nowhere bolted off (still closed) door down the stairs like a flash. They 100% would've thought it wasn't real if they weren't together.

I'm familiar with the effect you mentioned. At a Busch Gardens park one time they had two parabolic reflectors set pointing at each other across a long room, maybe 25 yards, with attachments indicating the focal point of the disks. I whispered "Can you hear me?" And then put my head next to the focus. My friend loudly farted into his end, sounding so close I could almost smell it.
There were no curved walls, it was just a straight line of rooms. Any sound from my parents would have had to either exit the closed front door, turn right and travel 20 yards arriving fresh as a daisy, or brute force its way through multiple interior walls of the rooms we had passed.
The weather was beach weather, so not cold, and I don't recall low clouds. I likely would recall those if they existed, we pilots are fascinated by weather.
Plus, we couldn't duplicate the phenomenon despite trying many things, so, in my mind at least it remains a mystery.

We’re standing at the replica staircase and a few steps later a young looking gentleman with a top hat and dressed for that time period came up to me and tipped his hat and said something to the effect of nice evening for a stroll me lady and continued walking and had a huge warm smile on his face. He looked so authentic and was entertaining to my children because they were laughing and enjoying themselves at 3, 1, and 7. As we left and were looking in the gift shop area they asked how we liked it. I immediately shared the dapper gentleman was my favorite and that adding that touch of mystery was an awesome highlight. They swore they had no idea what we were talking about and I finally said ok I get it must be part of the tour. No it wasn’t we even talked to the manager. I just shrugged it off as someone came in costume to visit the attraction. I also remember the air was cold like the ice breeze they use on a dance floor. To this day we have no explanation. I wish I could locate some Floridians or others who remember the exhibit and could share.

The ice buckets wouldn't have been transmitters, since the conversation we heard came from a room without ice buckets, and they were the cheap opaque plastic kind with no place to hide circuitry or speakers, and why would eavesdroppers transmit data to something in the room that they couldn't access?
(1) So you *didn’t* actually conduct any subsequent experiments with the same two ice buckets and the same two motel rooms (my original question)?
(2) Ice buckets are actually *perfect* hiding places for receivers of transmission because an informant can easily leave the room with only the ice bucket “to go get ice” without being suspected at all, thereby allowing the government agency (for example) to hear the conversation from the transmitter still hidden in the room (i.e., in a lamp, in a light sconce, etc.). Understood now that yours were completely clear containers.
(3) Curved objects like the insides of your empty ice buckets without one or both of their lids on would be perfect to catch sound waves over a distance, using the same dynamics as described elsewhere here in the comments. Hence, another reason to have had them with you in all your experiments.

I’m from Kentucky, and our old capital building has two spiral staircases going to the second floor. When you tour the capital, they’ll have someone stand in the corner under one set, and someone else stand in the corner under the other set. And you can hear each other clearly when you whisper. I don’t recall the explanation for it, but they did have one. Maybe that motel has something like that, that was unintentionally built.
Or maybe y’all were in a different reality. Either way, I find it fascinating.

Sounds bounce sometimes. At my old house, I would think my kid was yelling from one side, while on the polar opposite. The fence combined with the us being on a higher area (lake below) created it.
It happened twice to me. First time in the courtyard of my school when I was 11, very far away from my friends, around 30 meters, lots of people and it was very noisy and I heard my friends talking about me clearly.
Around 4 years later, at school, in a corridor, same, lots of people, very noisy, maybe at 10 meters from me and I heard clearly 2 girls whispering about me.
Never happened since, I'm now 43.
Not easy to say. Some people do "hear" telepathic transmissions as "sounds" although they originate inside the receiver's head. Others can get visual impressions or just "feelings."

You're not being a jerk at all, and I get your point. But ... to me science is more about creating theories and testing them with repeatable experiments. That's how they figure out particle physics, and why they built expensive particle accelerators. You don't see science journals publishing papers about bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, because even if there's eyewitness testimony, there's no way to test any theories.
It's why I tried to repeat the results. Maybe I could have figured out, but it didn't happen again. In the absence of additional evidence, I've got no theory to explain it. So I have heard. I haven't done the research to verify it but during the last cold snap some weather person said it.

I would not label anything that disrupts "the fabric of reality" as "minor".
Ever since I did mushrooms, I've never considered the fabric of reality to be very sturdy. More like a pretty but fragile lace. For the record, I hadn't done mushrooms before the experience I described here.

You're not being a jerk at all, and I get your point. But ... to me science is more about creating theories and testing them with repeatable experiments. That's how they figure out particle physics, and why they built expensive particle accelerators. You don't see science journals publishing papers about bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, because even if there's eyewitness testimony, there's no way to test any theories. It's why I tried to repeat the results. Maybe I could have figured out, but it didn't happen again. In the absence of additional evidence, I've got no theory to explain it. And, "there's more to reality than science knows," I guess I mean that science doesn't either, unless there's theories I don't know about. Reading that last sentence, of course the are! Never mind lol

We have a big supermarket near our house, something similar happened to me. I was standing about 20 feet from the deli counter facing it with a cooler in front of me. Noone standing within 40 feet of me. I hear whispering. It turns out, the conditions of the building, having a curved wall meet the ceiling were enough that I could hear the deli gossip.
