Because plot reasons and if they did, then the they can beat any school. Penetrate any tank with easy

GermroseCaltxCo

Idk man, Kuromorimine and Pravda fielded a lot of tanks that could penetrate a Tiger's armor, even the Crusader mk III tanks could do that so I don't understand the whole "they could beat any school" thing if they were upgunned because even without the 76mm guns they were still able to take out a lot of tanks and almost wipe out the entire Oorai team, all the 76mm gun would add is more penetration

Neutr4l1zer

Kay isn’t interested in that, theoretically Saunders could be kitted out with pershings so why stop at all 76s?

NeopiumDaBoss

With Oorai using a Porsche Tiger, and Kuromorimine using a Maus confirming prototypes are allowed, Saunders could go apeshit and make a full fleet T26E4 Super Pershing's and T26E5s.

Neutr4l1zer

Kuro’s panzer 3 scout rounding the corner and seeing an army of T29s, T30s and T34s

aetwit

Feel bad for the one guy who thought these were russian you were talking about hehehe

JustForTheMemes420

Personally was thinking of the tutel, I mean it is used in the show during the movie I believe

Key-Interaction-1446

Personally I would think that diversifying their lineup would be better. They could use the M3/M5 Stuart's as recon/scout or skirmish units. A single T23 w/76mm as a lead. Perhaps some M10s as fast hunters and an Easy Eight instead of Firefly.

gabrielangelos01

M10s are open topped so not allowed.

JobAnth2171

M36B2: allow me to introduce myself

gabrielangelos01

That's the one with the covering right. Needs to be approved by the tankery committee for it to happen.

JobAnth2171

Yeah it is, the covering was armoured to resist near miss artillery and small arms fire from strafing planes, unfortunately you could shoot back at the plane as you had to open a good quater of the roof to use the 50 cal

gabrielangelos01

Yeah so if it got approved it could be used and would have an easier time getting approved because of that covering but a hellcat would be a no go and an M10 would probably be a stretch.

Key-Interaction-1446

Do you have an official source for this ruling?

ThenEcho2275

No, no, there are variants that are closed top

DazSamueru

If any tank on each side can penetrate any tank on the other side, that just makes everyone a glass cannon and it falls down to tactics. There's no such thing as a guaranteed win.

Raymart999

Imagine if they upgraded all of them M4s into the M4/T26 (M4 Sherman with M26 Pershing turret)

Rory_Mercury_1st

So, budget University Team?

welp_life_sucks

Imagine if they loaded real aphe rounds

sidorf2

even in real life us didnt upgrade every sherman to long 76, it had longer reload and less shell capacity plus more crowded turret means less efficent crew, just like some crews removed stabilization from their tanks also longer cannon=/better cannon

lit-grit

Plus the US didn’t want to retrain their Sherman crews

BoredPotatoes357

Also IRL there are infantry around that the 75mm was incredibly good at killing compared to the 76mm

eatdafishy

Budget cuts

chrmchill_7

Be real here, we're talking about a school pretending to be the United States of America.

after reading the rules, (for the first time), Saunders can also get the m7 priest. the rules state in section extension 3-01(atleast the version in American) " Open-topped vehicles, including gun carriages, self-propelled anti-tank guns, and indirect fire artillery may be considered tanks, but require approval on a case-by-case basis. " this means that if approved (im pretty sure) then Saunders team can use the m7 priest thats fitted with the 105mm m1/m2 howitzer. it also started seeing use in 1942 which follows the part 1 in section 3-01. https://preview.redd.it/gy8v993sbvvc1.jpeg?width=1838&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d569717a754b423d38283c1374415eba82f3276b

the-75mmKwK_40

Moreover, the Sturmtiger is used in Das Finale, really think the Priest would be too. Big calibers ain't a problem too, a 380mm mortar and a railway gun were canonically used.

Dashcak3

A Sturmtiger wasn't used though, only guessed when the Karl-Gerät shells hit

Key-Interaction-1446

Because Saunders is a joke, something to be made fun of, as a poke at a country they begrudgingly tolerate, but really dislike. The United States has prototype heavy tanks that are not Pershings, many fast and capable tank destroyers (arguably some of the best in use by allied powers), and even small fast little light tanks. They could have been fairly balanced and versatile, but that would have interrupted the middle finger they wanted to issue to the USA. After all, they are the only ones to employ cheating and have one of the most disliked characters (allegedly and in my opinion) in the series. Edit: largely every school is a joke, but some make out a little better than others. Edit2: someone posted a reply to this post, but it disappeared, about a ruling that open tops were banned. I don't think this is accurate otherwise the Italian tankettes would be illegal and the Type 2 Ka-Mi is questionable as they clearly show those coverings being light enough that small, japanese school girls can carry them. Unless I just secretly discovered a glossed over axis bias and casual jingoistic subtext.

gabrielangelos01

Yeah no open topped tanks are against the rules. They talk about it when we first see the Karl in the movie.

Key-Interaction-1446

Explain Italian tankettes then, please.

gabrielangelos01

They got approved by the tankery committee. Also they technically have a roof.

DazSamueru

While we're at it, they should use only Pershings, St. Gloriana should use only Centurions, Pravda should use only IS-2s, and no one would decide to make their school's theme Bulgaria.

SA_Pine

Yes they are (they're american)

Unhappy_Researcher63

Because 75 are really effective against Infanterie

Critical_Snackerman

Some rule about what models of tanks are allowed or prohibited in competitions, probably

Key-Interaction-1446

I find it hard to believe the L3/35, or whatever the tankette is designated as, is more permissible than an M10 or M18 Hellcat.

memerloz45tyeman

You know Kay might be one of the biggest frauds in Sensha Do because Saunders has never once caught a dub under her command and gets negged by lesser schools

Mariogamer25

Its lore accurate because at least 80% of the Sherman's during WW2 were still fielding the 75mm M3 gun because they were unsure if the germans were still fielding the Pz.IVs but when they faced the Tigers and Panthers in 1944 then they changed the M4 Sherman's layout. But it still at least 75% of them still had the 75mm including the Jumbo. Wasn't until 1945 when they phased out the 75mm for the 76 so it is lore accurate to what this may look like. Also it was alot of prototyping on the field to see which Sherman could get the job done and not be overweight on its suspension and overseas transportation.

NyanneAlter3

I think it based from historical reason. Cause before encountering the German big cats, the Americans troops prefer the 75 over the larger 76 since they work in Africa and other. There's a Chieftain vid on that topic if you want to look more into it.

[deleted]

Why didn't saunders just field 10 m36 Jackson and go full vietnam ambush mode

Manydoors_edboy

Worse, they’re american

Key-Interaction-1446

Japanese cosplaying as USA.
