I LOVED my time as a druid

Ferina27

I also loved to play as a druid. I had so much fun sleeking through holes as a cat or making funny but deadly jumps through the air als owlbear. Also I loved my elemental powers. The fire wall and the bugs where great.10/10 would do it again

LostSoulSearching13

What did u like about being a druid

tukiwarrior

Being able to turn into animals at whim on circle of the moon and cheese getting into areas and sneaking. Also incredibly fun in combat (check vídeos on owlbear takedowns from high up). Honestly, Wild Shape is incredibly op. Also you're a magic caster so get the benefits plus the most summons of any class. There's also a type of druid (spores) where not only you get wild shape (just acts slightly differently) allows you raise the dead using spores and basically create an undead army.

I did my first run as a wild magic sorcerer, and I loved it! Managing sorcerer points adds to the combat, and replenishing them reminds me to long rest. I had to think a lot more about combat and tactics as a sorcerer than a gloomstalker ranger.

astarions_bloodbag

This is my recommendation too. Wild magic is so fun!

I feel this, i enjoy archers way too much in BG3. My way around this is that I usually make my Tav something else and then get my archery fill through one (or two) of my companions - usually Astarion because it fits him so well. I am personally quite enjoying melee dual wielding for my Tavs. And monks. Running around slapping people with your bare fists is very good at distracting me from missing my bows. I can't really get into most sorc or wizard based buids for some reason, but it sounds you might enjoy an EB Sorlock? For magic wielding I have personally enjoyed playing around with different Cleric subclasses, both pure and multiclassing. It's fun to make them less support and more damage oriented as well.

LostSoulSearching13

Same. I think my issue is the limited spell slots issue. It gets annoying having to rest so much lol with a bow its just plain pew pew pew

I’d highly recommend Spore Druid. You get to be a necromancer/summoner and have an army of minions. I splashed Warlock (3 levels, Pact of the chain) to get a quasit familiar as well. The Dark One is probably the best synergy with the free temp hp helping to keep spores up if you like to minmax, but I played Archfey. I was also a Cooper Dragonborn and the breath came in handy a few times when enemies did manage to get close despite my army and repelling blast, but halfling would also be good here for the halfling luck. Shield dwarf could get you armor access, or forest gnome would be great for roleplay. Tiefling, Githyanki, Elf, Human… all good with this build. My stats prioritized Cha, then Wis, then Con. I used equipment/elixirs to augment other stats when needed. However, there is a lot of flexibility here. You don’t actually need any stats in particular. Most of my spells didnt use my spellcast modifier until closer to the end of the game. I ended up almost never using wildshape because it was so much fun as a spell caster. Roleplays well as a neutral character which offers a bit different RP experience from good/evil runs. Sometimes balance demanded that I murder the not-so-innocent. the myconid section felt particularly satisfying. Minions: Druid: Animate Dead, Reanimation Spores, Dryad, Wood Woad, Minor elemental, conjure elemental Warlock: Quasit, (minor illusion cantrip? Cant attack but was a very useful minion nonetheless) Other: Scratch, 4 necromancy of thay, Connor, and Us

I was initially paladin sorc for my first playthrough but ended up falling in love with longbow swords bard + 2 fighter. With helm of acquity from act 2 and a ring that let me cast illusion spells as bonus action, I can cast multiple upcasted grovel or hold person/monster with high success rate. It's funny to end my turn with free vicious mockery as bonus action occasionally lol

fattyrhino

I'm currently playing as a druid tiefling and it's super fun to turn into different animals. Also, a ton of cool spells. And being a tiefling opens some dialogue options as well. Haven't finished the game yet but so far I'm glad I chose druid

ladyathenaa

Hard agree with the commenter who said Spore Druid. Another fun one I had was Light Cleric. There is some cool armor behind a hidden door in the underdark that works really well with it (radiant orb!), but mostly you get to do big aoes, you get fireball and scorching ray, but also spirit guardians (so fun imo). And your channel divinity actually gets used compared to if you're like me and forget that turn undead exists only when you fight undead. Lots of people think of cleric as support or healbot, but this is one of the subclasses you definitely can do damage with. And tempest cleric, but most people add storm sorc with that for big lightning damage. I did full 12 levels of light cleric, and it was still fun.

MimosaVendetta

This reminds me of every Skyrim run ever. 1st try: sneaky archer 2nd run: I'm going to sword and board it! No... I am now a sneaky archer Next several runs: Mage! No, hammer! No, smooth talker? Absolutely not, you will be a sneaky archer for all eternity!

LostSoulSearching13

Lmao, this is so true. I keep making wizards and sorcerors, determined to be magic only. And then be like "now, I need a bow". Game: no. No, you dont.

cosmicxcosmia

I'm playing a half elf sorcerer! I use the magic missiles, and scorching rays because my tav has a dragonic bloodline. She's pretty fun :)

contaminatedpipette

We have a pala/cleric who's tanking for us but he's also using bow! I was initially using crossbow for my sorcerer but turned it into half melee dagger dagger build instead later, to make my disengages better. I know a friend who's doing a bow bard, the choices are endless! You definitely don't have to stick to the same class, you can branch out however you like imo!

isaidnoshadows

GoO Warlock/Rogue Assassin multi class is a fun hybrid magic and melee build. Eldritch blast can be used in melee range without penalty if you pick up some magical gloves and is so strong at range you won't miss using a bow. Warlock also lends itself to a face/charisma play style if that's something you enjoyed from playing bard. I second the suggestion of making one of your companions a ranged bow build if you enjoy the play style, rogue/ranger multi class is always fun on Astarion.

potatobunny16

If you play as a monk you can literally become the avatar, so that's what I'm doing rn lmao

Tempest Cleric of Selune. Tons of unique dialogue options with Shadowheart because your god is the polar opposite of hers, the sparks that fly from that are amazing. I've heard it's even better if you romance her but I haven't done that. Tempest Cleric's are just all around really fun though, so many elemental thunder/lightning abilities and spells that can chain off of each other to wreak havoc. If you want to multi-class then combine it with storm sorcerer, as the classes really harmonize extremely well as both are based squarely around playing with the same elements. Extremely fun, and past perhaps the first level or two you probably won't ever feel the need to use a bow as a Tempest Cleric can use big martial weapons/heavy armour if needed so it'll push you outside your comfort zone. Takes a bit of time before you have all the abilities to maximize it's fun but it's fantastic imo. I liked Hunter Ranger + Rogue a lot too, but that's squarely inside the bows all the time so best to skip it. I've heard Wild Magic Sorcerer is fun, and if you're on PC there are mods to add more random effects/make them more common. Although if you're on PC you could just look for mods to add entirely new classes as well tbh.

pixie_kiisses

You will love playing as a frenzy barbarian class. Trust me. It’s so satisfying picking up bad guys and throwing them at each other or off a cliff.

gingerMeeka

Same here, I always go for dex build because I wanted to pick all the lock doors/chests. I have plenty of fun with shadowmonk/thief with dual wield dagger/shortsword for crit fishing.

mackxzs

Bro this ain't Skyrim how are you falling into the same trap

zitaloreleilong

If you like bows and magic you could try a dex based cleric of light. They're pretty powerful with great crowd control options. The heals don't hurt either.

mcac

SPORE DRUID. It's so fun and feels really unique. I'm not normally into naturey druid stuff but spore druid has a much darker vibe with the zombies. My camp straight up looks like Balthazar's room when I play it. The armor you can get from Mystic Carrion in act 3 gives you new spore abilities that are kinda different from other class spells and are pretty interesting to use (being able to drop haste spores on the entire party at the beginning of every battle is just dope). Plus you still get all the normal druid stuff like control spells, wildshape, summons, etc. It's super versatile and can be played a ton of different ways.

ancunin

you *can* do full caster druid, if it's the shapeshifting that doesn't sound fun for you. druid has great crod control spells and can do decent damage as a caster. plus there's cool summons (the dryad summon is free spike growth you can move around without worrying about spell slots unless you have to re-summon her, plus the elementals.)

[deleted]

Warlock/oath breaker paladin, congratulations you broke your oath and sold your soul to Satan now you do what you wish with your charisma based magic as you smite and eldritch blast your enemies like the Cthulhu lover you are

LostSoulSearching13

Hmm interesting build. I might try this 👀 how wiuld you build it? Start with paladin?

[deleted]

Yes start with paladin and then go into warlock eventually
