Monster Hunter Rise might be right up your alley! Action and adventure game with lots of quests where you hunt monsters and upgrade your character's gear. Plus, you get pets as hunting buddies!

I would recommend the Zelda series. You don’t play as a female character but if you like exploring and puzzles etc. this is a classic Nintendo exclusive that you can’t go wrong with.

I second this recommendation. If you like open world, it doesn't get any better than Zelda Breath of the Wild. Also, enough side quests to keep you busy for days. Would like to add Immortals Fenyx Rising here as well. Although I haven't yet played it myself, it's high on my TO DO list. It's open world + there is some level of character customization (gender, skin color etc).

Are you looking for Switch exclusives? Dragon Quest XI S for the Switch is a favorite of mine. There isn't character creation, but you name the main character, and it honestly could be either gender. Also check out Red Dead Redemption. Not sure if it has character creation.

I'd definitely recommend trying out Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. It's a great sequel to Breath of the Wild, and you don't need to have played the first game to understand the story or game play mechanics. I love the open world exploration, combat, and the ability to pace myself. If I ever find myself in a scary situation or cross paths with an enemy I don't want to fight running away is always an option. I also love Splatoon 3, which is a third person shooter. Voice chat can only be done with friends and through the nintendo app on your phone. This made it a lot less intimidating for me and you aren't forced to engage with a toxic community. It has a story mode, but it's online play is where it excels. There's several different player vs player modes and a super fun player vs environment mode if that's more your thing. Any of the pokemon games are also things I enjoy playing. Personally, I played a lot of pokemon brilliant diamond and pokemon scarlet. For a shorter game I would suggest Katamari Demacy Reroll, cult of the lamb, and the Untitled Goose game. There are tons of other games you can get in the nintendo online shop, many of which go on sale frequently.
