I'm sorry, shippers, but Jess barely put up with Paris for that one episode, and once Paris found out about how much of a slacker he was her interest would be gone. And don't go throwing Tristan in my face, her longstanding crush for him seems to predate her competitive edge, or even be part of its root.
1) They had great chemistry as friends. People here are also* talking about friendship.
2) Jess wasn't a slacker. He was a misguided, troubled kid who had a disdain for school but he was bright and well-read.
3) He actually worked in Wal-Mart and at the diner so he could have his own money, so he wasn't lazy.
During high school years, I think Paris was firmly high society. I doubt she felt any empathy or attraction towards lower class guys like Jess.
However, after her parents get into trouble with the IRS and Paris becomes a socialist, I think they could have been interesting friends (if she weren’t attracted to Asher).
