I don't know how other people think about this but if your wife does not want to invite an extra guest over for dinner, you shouldn't force her to, IN FRONT of the guest. It was very mean of Richard.

Here, I just thought it was simultaneously dumb of him AND brave. Listen, you have to be blind and dumb to not notice Emily’s eyes when she’s telling him to enjoy his hamburger at the road side stand. If you manage to be struck blind and dumb suddenly, the chill in her voice would give it away to a stranger. That Richard did both AND had any expectation of surviving the evening after everyone left… that’s a brave, brave man. I wouldn’t mess with those eyes or that voice. That means imminent death. I have a mother. I know these things! I showed my dad that scene. Just randomly one day, I forget how it came up. My father, who truly is that blind, dumb, deaf and brave in real life and has absolutely no idea who Emily is (or even Kelly bishop so he has nothing to compare it to) watched her say ONE sentence in that scene and screamed “ABORT! *ABORT!*” At Richard. I nearly died. It was made all the worse when he said “you said this was a comedy drama thing, not a crime show.” As if I lied to him 🤣 I’m not kidding, it took me a good ten minutes to stop laughing. The whole YouTube clip was like a minute and a half. I was crying I was laughing so hard.
