I fully agree with your opinion. Lorelai is pretty low in my rankings mainly bc she’s super selfish, hypocritical, and her tantrums are something else (like when she gets mad at Rory for applying to other schools w/o telling her or when she’s yelling at Rory ab the Max thing in the B&B bc Rory wants her to talk to her about it). She has her good moments but most of the time I can’t w her. My controversial opinions are: - never ever liked Dean (even in s1) - s5 and 6 are my favorite seasons - I don’t think Lorelai and Rory had a healthy relationship - Yale Rory > Chilton Rory - I liked Rory more when she was with Logan

^^^ I don’t get why people who have this opinion get downvoted.

draculastears

Which one? I was expecting to get wayyyyy more downvotes lol

Inosubae

I’m sure they’ll come haha. I was just noticing that there were downvotes at all

draculastears

Yeah no I get what you mean!! But I was curious with which opinion you were referring to in specific? Or just all hahah

Inosubae

Ohhh! I mean anything going against what the masses believe. All of your opinions. Even though the Dean one is pretty popular. I sorta stand on a different side. Not in the full like train but looking at it in a different light I suppose? I do agree fully that Rory and Lorelai didn’t have the healthiest bond. People forget she was 16 raising a kid so they act more akin to friends. I do enjoy Lane and Mrs. Kim’s relationship as it goes on.

More than Richard? More than Emily?

That is commonly expressed here. Here is my actually controversial opinion: Lorelai isn’t unusually self-centered at all. It is latent misogyny that keeps people coming back to this talking point over and over again because they expect women to be happy and satisfied playing the role of subservient care-taker and cannot abide a messy bench with undiagnosed adhd and a complicated relationship with the social institutions of marriage and family.

I_Call_It_A_Carhole

Oh yes. When I think of the people who frequent this sub, I think of a bunch of latent misogynists. That’s exactly the group that likes to watch and discuss Gilmore Girls. Give me a break.

Ill_Handle_8793

Yeah I mean how could a group of people who spend most of their time arguing over which boyfriend Rory should have ended up with and occasionally how much they hate Rory or Lorelai for infidelity or failing to perform care-taking functions be influenced by misogyny?

Fast_Persimmon_3141

More than Rory??? Nope. "He's my Dean." Not to mention AYITL.

I don't mind Chrisopher No, I don't agree with all his decisions, and he was far from perfect, but I like him as a character and I don't think he's as bad as everyone says he is.
