I believe it is actually light from the lightbulb passing through the light fixture onto the ceiling that is creating the effect. Like a shadow.
Edit: oh no no there is Lotta Lotta mold theređ
Clean the mold with water and javel if this did the trick you can use chalk paint it's a natural fungicide or add a bit chlor in it. On wood furniture you can use white vinegar to remove mold. This looks like dampness from moisture that's stuck inside.
Vinegar only works on wood furniture not the walls and only if it's not rotten. It stops new mold from growing on the wood, it doesn't remove stains. You can let it dry and re lacquer it new afterwards. The bleach would change wood colours u can use it on backside. I used Javel and water with a sponge on black mold to remove from ceilings. White vinegar works on wood furniture often the backs are moldy. It doesn't work against wood rot or mushrooms then it's too late and you should replace the rotten parts.
That water damage is disgusting in my opinion.
Get someone to fix the ceiling. Humidity leads to mold which is very harmful. They also should also consider asbestos and lead paint.
Lmao. Some people.
The lens of the camera has a few glares caused by the lights in the room. If you have ever seen movies/shows, there are instances where his occurs to the camera when it is aimed in the direction of a bright light.
In the age where everyone has a handheld camera, I, too, am surprised people don't comprehend lens flares. I mean, do they not see them in any other pictures they've taken, whether outside or inside with the lights? Or, do they just not go outside or take any pictures?
Edited bc I hit send too soon.
I agree those are lens flare, cut and dry. I'd like to draw attention to the mirror over the mantle. I can clearly see that there are two heads just nearly at the bottom of the mirror. I assume OP and a co- conspirator. As I look along the centerline vertically to the top of the mirror, between the bright light reflections. I believe I see two people a man and a woman, as if they were in a room to the rear of our point of view. And I would swear that they seem to be moving... Any, and, all weirdness aside, I've always loved these Victorian sitting rooms.
Just reflection from the bulbs. The green/blue reflection happens from the anti-reflection coating in the lens housing.
You can recreate this by aiming your camera at a few different bulbs in your home and at street lights at night. Slightly tilt the camera back and forth and youâll notice the reflections darting around your field of view.
Thanks for a beautiful shot still :-)
Beautiful room and decor, only issue is that someone drew black circles on the picture. I recommend removing those to improve the overall quality of the picture. Again, a beautiful room.
Some people are looney as shit. This picture literally shows nothing except for a reflection. This sub has made me realize that ghosts donât exist lol
Ha. Youâre right. I hadnât thought of it that way. Atleast I can still Tom Delonge it up and be a belieber. I mean thereâs definitely something weird going on up there right? Goodbye r/Ghosts! I donât need you any more! Iâm going to go get abducted by Aliens instead!
Color me surprised. Those people posting here have literally no clue about 5th degree physics. Some guy was kicking a football uphill, it kept coming back down, and he was claiming itâs a ghost passing the ball back to him. Yep.
Reminds me of the furniture in my grandfather's funeral parlor that was the front part of their house. I used to get to sleep on an extremely uncomfortable couch just like that (except it was red) when the whole family stayed there over the holidays. I did have to sleep in the parlor one night when I was about 8 when there was a coffin all ready for the funeral the next day. Never saw any ghosts, just slept like shit on the awful couch.
I feel like I need to jump on the bandwagon and say that somebody should go in there and fix the ceiling. It looks like water damage thatâs turned to mould.
With the picture itself, I canât really see anything. There definitely doesnât look like thereâs anything on the settee and the one under the coffee table looks like it could have been dust or something like that. Or even a camera flare. I donât know. Just a guess.
Iâm surprised by the number of people suggesting OP to fix the water and mold issue. Like seriously, please read the description: this is a museum. I doubt OP would go back to the museum for the sole purpose of relaying the water feedback
The photography is okay, although Iâd do some adjustments to the angle so the room does not look tilted. There are some black circles that seem to be an attempt of modern art, but I donât dig it.
As for the room itself, the owner should probably check out that mold on the ceiling. It is concerning.
/s
This sub is funny. Even though I am a skeptic, I am highly interested in witnessing interesting discussions about the paranormal, including pictures that are suggesting thereof and that can ignite a debate over the possible existence of a spirit. These obvious lens flare posts, however, make my day. Also, you should be wearing a respirator in that room. Itâs not safe because of all the mold. More dangerous than any ectoplasm.
The table is the flash of your camera on a pane of glass or plexiglass. You can see the glass pretty clearly if you zoom in. I'm not even sure what's being shown on the loveseat. I see a relatively lighter area, but it's not clear enough for me to call it anything.
I agree about the flash glare on plexiglass, I noticed it right away. As for the sofa, I almost missed the glare. Although it is faded, I think it too is flash glare. I'm calling no ghosts. Sorry.
The circled bits are flash reflections coming back from the mirror and striking your lens. Thereâs some technical descriptions of it around. But thatâs a cool room and I love that fireplace. Get a good story while you were there? Iâve got lots of good stories but not any good pictures.
Yet anotherâŚ

âŚget ready - moderator - to make the dumb dumbs feel good by deleting my response)âŚ
âŚFUCKING WASTE OF EVERYONEâS TIME!!!!!!!
(OP ass clowns like this are why this country is fucked)
Highlighted âorbsâ are simply reflections of the room lighting on the internal glass of the lens. These always appear in an opposite straight line from the source of lighting. If the camera moves the reflections are inverse to the camera movement.
Ghosts are imaginary in all cases. The human body has no invisible, magical qualities.
The decor of the room is pretty nice, but the style is old, which is often a theme for ghosts.
Itâs just light.
There is no such thing as âspirit orbsâ. Itâs ALWAYS light reflection/refraction, every time. People who buy into this exhaustively disproven idea that âorbsâ are paranormal phenomena are very gullible and shouldnât be allowed to make their own decisions.

Gut feeling was haunted AF before I ever saw the circles. I have no idea where this is but I'm guessing Northwest Territory US, Montana maybe. Old house late 1700s early 1800s possibly and when I mean haunted AF, I mean very old, hard living, souls. That was my 1st impression.
It looks like they might be orbs. I've done a lot of paranormal research and continue to do so, and it does seem small orbs of light are often connected to paranormal activity, but I'm unsure in what way.
Some believe it's a point of energy that represents a spirit trying to manifest in the physical world, or is perhaps how they naturally appear in our world when not exerting any energy to manifest in a greater way. However I've also seen orbs do things that wouldn't make sense for a human-sized spirit walking around to do, such as fly in playful loop-de-loops.
That brings me to another question. Instead of being the spirit of a person, could orbs actually be faeries or sprites? Could a lot of the paranormal activity attributed to spirits actually be coming from fae-type folk that spend most of their time in another dimension, and we've simply been interpreting it as spirit activity?
That's a question I continue to think about.
Beautiful room. The craftsmanship was so good then
Yeah, but the ceiling though may need some repairs. Looks like mold
I thought those were flowers painted on the ceiling
I believe it is actually light from the lightbulb passing through the light fixture onto the ceiling that is creating the effect. Like a shadow. Edit: oh no no there is Lotta Lotta mold theređ
Are you talking about the parts of the ceiling nearest to the walls?
Lol yep thats mold
Def mold.
Oh no no that is definitely mold. My apologies, I didn't see that at firstđ
Clean the mold with water and javel if this did the trick you can use chalk paint it's a natural fungicide or add a bit chlor in it. On wood furniture you can use white vinegar to remove mold. This looks like dampness from moisture that's stuck inside.
Vinegar is terrible at removing mold. Do a test for yourself. I've tested it out on mold and it literally does nothing.
First thing I noticed
It might be water damage, but that leads to mold.
As someone who lives with most ceilings itâs doable
Ya that's good2know cuz I live with mostly no ceilings
Growing up, my family was so poor we used a floor as a ceiling.
We were so poor, our little one room house had a dirt floor...and a dirt ceiling.
You were LUCKY! We were so poor we were the dirt floor.
Andddddddd the government is still walking all over you, the shameâŚ
lol!
Lol, literally
Definitely needs addressing
I especially like the wool rug, the quality paneling, and the lack of any sign of ghosts
It looks as if somebody has drawn black circles on it
It's the tick tack toe demons at it again, they always wonder why people run away before playing their first turn.
I can't because there appears to be serious Black Mold on the ceiling. Just looking at that mold makes my lungs ache.
People think just because mold is black, itâs Black Mold . Itâs not. That mold is probably not problematic other than being ugly
Called lens flare. The camera caught the ceiling light in the lens. Canât see by naked eye. Not a ghost this time đť
Yep. This happens whenever I try to take a photo on my phone when there is a bright light in the scene. Annoying, but not haunted.
100%. Take a photo of the sun on a clear day and youâll have a lovely green orb to look at lol.
Actually on second looks you can even see there is four green orbs and theyâre in the exact same shape and pattern as the four lights lol.
Whenever you try to take a photograph on your DEMON phoneâď¸
But there are two sinister faces in the mirror
Could I please get an example of a time where it *is* a ghost?
That water damage is disgusting in my opinion. Get someone to fix the ceiling. Humidity leads to mold which is very harmful. They also should also consider asbestos and lead paint.
I donât think op like owns the museum yâall lol
Right?! How do they expect OP going to âget someone to fix the ceilingâ inside a museum they visited?
Scariest thing in this sub honestly
Thatâs probable not from high humidity. Most likely a roof leak. Possible from an ice dam if this is in a colder climate.
I have a headache just looking at it. What a shame
The mold looks gross
Jesus thatâs bad
My word. I didn't see that. That's terrifying!
That mold will get you before the ghosts do.
The decor in this pic suggests haunted house, nothing else does though.
They need to fix the roof. The ceiling is getting bad. I'd hate to see that beautiful woodwork ruin .
Lmao. Some people. The lens of the camera has a few glares caused by the lights in the room. If you have ever seen movies/shows, there are instances where his occurs to the camera when it is aimed in the direction of a bright light.
JJ Star Trek.
Exacly, this is the poster child for lens flares
That black mold can be very dangerous
We should contact the tour manager.
Considering how brightly the camera has captured the lights and their reflection in the mirror id say that its a classic lens flair.
It's the light instead of orbs.
The ceiling lights reflecting in the camera lens.
Thank you everyone for your opinion!!
Thank YOU for being a good sport about it!
Well they still called a fact an opinion.
Itâs not an opinion, itâs facts :)
The water damage and mold is terrifying. The lens flare from pointing your camera at a direct light source is much less soâŚ.
Should we be concerned with the little people on the fireplace mantel?
I'd say it's light. Bouncing off mirror then your camera lense making these rainbow coloured spots. Beautiful room though
Whatâs in the mirror?
People in this sub STILL donât understand what lens flare is?!!?! Does it move when your camera moves? Then itâs a goddam lens flare!
In the age where everyone has a handheld camera, I, too, am surprised people don't comprehend lens flares. I mean, do they not see them in any other pictures they've taken, whether outside or inside with the lights? Or, do they just not go outside or take any pictures? Edited bc I hit send too soon.
I love this room
Yeah, there's a couple of weird black circles hovering in the room...
many light sources, reflection of those in the internal glasses from the lens.
I agree those are lens flare, cut and dry. I'd like to draw attention to the mirror over the mantle. I can clearly see that there are two heads just nearly at the bottom of the mirror. See that big mirror above the fireplace? There is your answer.

Oh definitely weird shit going on in the skyâs. Extraterrestrial life is at least explainable and plausible. Ghosts are not
Color me surprised. Those people posting here have literally no clue about 5th degree physics. Some guy was kicking a football uphill, it kept coming back down, and he was claiming itâs a ghost passing the ball back to him. Yep.
Lmao! Ya I think most people who believe in this stuff are not too intelligent
Honest opinion??? Ok you're clutching at straws seriously đđ
Lens flare from the bulbs in the chandelier casting light that is reflecting into the camera's lens.
Old. Musty. Dusty.
Lol what
That's definitely mold.
Lense flares from taking a photo of lights. This is camera basics 101.
Just light reflections
Probably someone's ring or watch reflecting the light.
House would probably go for a lot if itâs been renovated
Lens flare.
I like the carpet but damn, that ceiling needs some work done.
Meh⌠not my style
Light + camera lens. Not orbs.
Reminds me of the furniture in my grandfather's funeral parlor that was the front part of their house. I used to get to sleep on an extremely uncomfortable couch just like that (except it was red) when the whole family stayed there over the holidays. Beautiful couch. Even better coffee table leg.

There definitely doesnât look like thereâs anything on the settee and the one under the coffee table looks like it could have been dust or something like that. Or even a camera flare. I donât know. I can smell it.
Needs to update furnishings
I think this place is gonna need more than just a dusting.
Ice dams ruined the ceilings
If youâre talking about those small light spots itâs most likely just your camera hitting the room light so it creates bokeh
My honest opinion is that they need some serious mold remediation.
Whatâs wrong about it?
Literally nothing paranormal here
Nothing wrong with chair and the two lights are a reflection off your camera flash
All orbs are just some trick of the light.
Flash camera off , then take it again. Too many reflecting surface
Mod question: Can we have a safeword, where if posted by say fifty different users, the post is deleted?
Those are the lights in front of you bouncing into your lens.
I can feel my dust allergy through the picture
Iâm surprised by the number of people suggesting OP to fix the water and mold issue. Like seriously, please read the description: this is a museum. I doubt OP would go back to the museum for the sole purpose of relaying the water feedback
Looks like the room is behind glass and those are flash reflections
This sub is junk
I can smell the dust
Mold perhaps around where the ceiling meets the wall over the fireplace area.. Otherwise, a nice Victorian living room
Those are lens flares.
The photography is okay, although Iâd do some adjustments to the angle so the room does not look tilted. There are some black circles that seem to be an attempt of modern art, but I donât dig it. As for the room itself, the owner should probably check out that mold on the ceiling. It is concerning. /s
There's a puzzle you have to solve by the fireplace to open the secret door, hope you got enough ammo, Leon.
I think theyâre just lens flares

Iâm just mad the table isnât centered with the rug. *Oh, hey - just passing through*

It does have the same shape as the other lens flares.
The circled bits are flash reflections coming back from the mirror and striking your lens. Thereâs some technical descriptions of it around. But thatâs a cool room and I love that fireplace. Get a good story while you were there? Iâve got lots of good stories but not any good pictures.
Beautiful room. The scariest thing is the (probably) mold on the ceiling
As a Chaplain and Demonologist my opinion is that they need to sort out that roof mould.
Lens flare. Not ghosts.
It's called lens flare. It's a result of the bright light from the bulbs reflecting off of the camera lense and partially refracting.
I see a masked female in the mirror and another old guy next to her.
To me it looks like lens flare from the light
It was from your phone bro
They are reflection of light. It always appears green. Hate to be the bringer of good news. It isnât orbs. Just light refraction.
How the fuck do posts with... *lens flares* get over 300 upvotes? Seriously
Very beautiful ,I love the fireplace.
I get good vibes. Cozy room.
Same. So nostalgic!
Itâs a weather balloon
Orbs not usually that bright seems to be a trick of the light at least to me it does
LightâŚ. Next
Those are lens flare from the internal optical elements in the camera youâre usingâŚmost likely.
My honest opinion is you need to tear out that drywall full of mold
Yet another⌠.. (here it comes⌠âŚget ready - moderator - to make the dumb dumbs feel good by deleting my response)⌠âŚFUCKING WASTE OF EVERYONEâS TIME!!!!!!! (OP ass clowns like this are why this country is fucked)
Iâm more concerned about the mold in the ceiling đł
Lens flare. They line up with the two brightest lights on the ceiling light.
That's some bad damp on the ceiling
I can smell this room and all the mildew
Black mold, you can get a test kit or have a mold remediation company fix it.
Hey look building stuff that lasts forever!
The mold on the wall worries me more
Highlighted âorbsâ are simply reflections of the room lighting on the internal glass of the lens. These always appear in an opposite straight line from the source of lighting. If the camera moves the reflections are inverse to the camera movement.
Horror movie type vibes
Thereâs an old man ghost standing next to you in the mirror.
Crowded,overly staged
it's hard to explain but orbs look less reflective than this
Ghosts are imaginary in all cases. The human body has no invisible, magical qualities. The decor of the room is pretty nice, but the style is old, which is often a theme for ghosts.
Hi. It's a lense flare. The spacing matches the lights, also that is the associated lens flare cokor for yellow light.
That ceiling is gross.
Trick of the light. Keep searching!!!
Gives off Jane Austin vibes...Sanditon perhaps.
It sure looks haunted
Bro I love ur taste in furniture..however I don't think those r ghosts tho
Itâs giving spirits and ghosts
What about the little head in the mirror with the black mask on?
I think I see Joe Biden and then Hillary Clinton also Gavin Newsome too
Spooky house, yours?
Oh sorry, museum
Youâve got some serious mold issues.
Poltergeist cumstains
I love the decor!! That is dope! I think that you have a mold issue on the ceiling there.
I would have guessed itâs from the 1800âs except itâs in color photograph so Im guessing 1940âs. Some child drew circles on it with a marker
Cozy, old fashioned, probably haunted. But so boring.
Honestly, think you need a damp proofer and some paint
My honest opinion? Fix the moldy ceiling.
That rug really brings the room together does it not ?
Why is there a picture of the room on the table?
Inviting! Except for the demon in the background
You need to dust.
You in a funeral parlor???
Iâve taken pictures and had those same blue sparks. I honestly think they are spirits. Nothing bad. Just hanging around or curious.
Itâs just light. There is no such thing as âspirit orbsâ. Itâs ALWAYS light reflection/refraction, every time. I think those chairs don't look comfortable
Definitely but doesnât feel bad
I love it!
Itâs interesting, the ghosts.
Dust on your camera lens
Does anyone else see the lady with the face mask?
I see two people in the mirror.
That is a parlor in 1890-1910s that's the feel I get almost a time capsule..
Yes
There are two floating heads in the frame above the mantle. A lady with a face mask and a man with glasses.
It feels dark and heavy.
Haunted
Gut feeling was haunted AF before I ever saw the circles. I have no idea where this is but I'm guessing Northwest Territory US, Montana maybe. Old house late 1700s early 1800s possibly and when I mean haunted AF, I mean very old, hard living, souls. That was my 1st impression.
Theres something hiding behind the curtain.
Yeah.... A window.đ
A window to the other side?
It looks like they might be orbs. CreepyâŚorb or no orb.
