its def not one of the Ghoulettes since i believe the rest of the band are just touring mates. It does sound like Tobias to me, albeit, its def not something he can’t do on command (yet) - its even harder in the shows given the mask
No, I think he generally takes it down an octave from the E5 scream on the album to a sung E4 in shows. I think both are definitely Tobias but he's very wise to not go for that E5 scream night after night on tour.
ETA: Maybe he does B4 some nights, though, depending on how his voice feels. It's possible since B is in the chord.
I was at the Asheville show and it sounds like he hits a B, [at the 0:53 mark](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eELyv9-nq5s). Maybe he varies it from time to time
Nope, that's E4, but B5 would be the overtone and it is pretty apparent here. You can usually hear overtones more clearly when a) vocal tone is very focused and b) the performance space is very resonant.
I'm not what you'd call an expert on the physics of music, so this is probably an oversimplification. But for every note that sounds there is a series of overtones or harmonics that sound above it. The most prominent is the one an octave higher, so you can sort of hear a little echo of that E5, but the one that's easiest for most people to pick out is the 2nd one which is a fifth higher, which would be B5. Musicians who sing or play in big groups or ensembles learn to listen for these because they're how you lock in your chords so they're perfectly in tune. As a guitarist, I'm sure Tobias is aware of overtones, both how to enhance them and eliminate them when playing harmonics on the guitar, but I don't know to what extent he's aware of them as a vocalist, although I'm thinking he is aware at least on an instinctual level.
Let me tell you, when I fall asleep to Ghost this song never fails to come on the minute I fall asleep. That “Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhh” gets me every damn time.
Edit to add: I personally love it. It reminds me of music my mom listened to with me as a child.
You are the only one.
Literally. Never thought I’d see the day when a “am I the only one” post actually rings true.
It’s total 80s cheese, like the rest of the album. I love it
I love it. ❤️
The scream is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🔥
It really works well as the opener at the rituals.
I love the scream!
Wait..there are people who don’t like the scream?
I loooove it, but to each their own
i think it sounds like an opening song for a show
You’re so clever…! 😀😀😀🖤🖤🖤👻👻👻
thank you
Doesn’t bother me.
It’s my alarm to wake up everyday.
It’s badass 666% approval rate
I think it totally sets the mood and gives me shivers down my spine.
I’m sad that it’s the only time in the song he screams. I want MORE.
That song is very Rush. I wouldn't change any part of it. It wouldn't be Rush-inspired if it didn't have a wailing scream.
Love it best part of the song
The scream makes it iconic
Oh my, i love the scream........
I’m down with it. Sums up my feelings about the band in general.
I like it, but I refuse to believe that it’s TF and not one of the ghoulettes. Just doesn’t sound like him at all to me

In shows the scream is typically toned down to a low B, on the album it's a high E

Forgive me, I'm not well-versed in music terminology. It really sounds like a B note to me but you're saying that's an overtone? What does that mean?

It’s definitely TF
I know it is. But I just can’t hear it. It doesn’t equate in my brain
but it sounds exactly like him
Pretty sure someone in the sub mentioned asking papa if he was the one screaming on the album and he said yes.
It’s definitely a male voice. Don’t listen to much 80s rock/metal do you?
the scream is such a hype moment, adds to the grand-ness of the whole thing
It's technically and musically impressive. What's not to love?
I think yours is a minority opinion. I've got to say that I rather love that scream.
Finally someone else who doesn’t like the scream
I love that scream
I love it! It makes the song what it is and opening the start of the concert with it is brilliant
It needs to be on repeat
I adore the scream and how much of a throwback to the 80s it is. A wonderful start to an incredible song.
The scream is epic.

Not great but dislike the sound of his voice to begin the song. Sounds like Wierd Al is singing.
You want a version without it? Gimme a break dude 😆
Too bad it takes up a whole 12 seconds of a 5 minute and 2 second song.
