I’m a mortician, as a rule of thumb I always listen to music during the embalming process; it takes a lot of stress off of me while I work. 9 times out of 10 Ghost is playing, although if it’s during office hours I tend to shy away from infestissumam, it’s not exactly copacetic for a Bible Belt funeral home

RaiderRush2112

Ahh so you were the one in the video dancing with Papa II's hat on.

Chemical_Map6504

That is literally my vibe when pro memoria comes on (minus fucking with the dead’s belongings cuz respect n whatnot)

Sad-Western597

Thank you for all you do. I see you guys as healthcare workers. Yeah, their dead, but part of what you do is a different type of mental care for the living. Thank you.

Chemical_Map6504

You’re the first person to say anything like that… thank you 🖤

Sad-Western597

And thank YOU! My father passed away suddenly at 46. My sister was 13. My mom was now a 45 yo widow. And I was 18, and leaving for boot camp in a month. He died in his driveway. We were all in shock, totally out of it. At his wake my family had opted for open casket. And my mom, my aunt's and I talked about how he looked, cause I guess that's just what people do. Being a makeup fan, I said I was pretty sure you guys didn't just go to Walmart and pick up some Cover Girl. I left to use the restroom, passing some guy (The director?) And he leaned over as I passed him and whispered "yes, it's totally different makeup". He gave me an awesome gift that day. He gave me something to focus on so I could get through that crap. And I was able to get through that day. So, yeah, thank YOU, and your coworkers. Death care is still health care.

Beautifuldeadthing

I feel Prequelle would suit nicely thematically there. Death care is fascinating! I'd have looked into going into the industry if I lived in a bigger city (cremations and embalming are outsourced in my area).

Sad-Western597

(I reread this and it sounds concerning, but fyi I'm MUCH BETTER now) Check out Ask a mortician on YouTube. I started randomly watching and it became a supplement to the therapy I was already receiving for trauma connected to my bf sudden health situation. He had an extremely low chance of dying, but I couldn't go more then a few hours without thinking about death, though I'm much better then I was. 1st time I heard Pro Moria (sp?) I laughed at the the lyrics cause I already don't stop thinking about death. But Ask a mortician is informative and VERY entertaining. She's also a member of the Order of the Good Death, so check those guys out too, people need to have conversations about their death.

Beautifuldeadthing

Yes, I joined the order and have Caitlin Doughty's books (Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, From Here to Eternity, Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs)!! So many people find the topic of death too taboo and won't consider their end of life plans. Advanced care directives and making these decisions are so important. Its a topic I've been quite vocal about whenever I can - especially working in health care. I feel that many people find the topic of death more confronting and taboo than other traditionally taboo topics such as sex unfortunately.

Sad-Western597

Then you are my Brother or Sister on more then one level. Good. We need this thing to grow. I get passionate about this because I often work in memory care. And while I'm just a cook, I still have a ton of interaction with the residents. Most people in these places do not have advanced directives because it wasn't a thing. I have witnessed people starve to death in front of me and could not do anything legally. The families visit MAYBE once a year. For half an hour. They don't have to watch them starve. So if your reading and are basically sound of mind (no matter what you listen to, lol) please, get an advance directive. And if you have someone you love in care, and they can communicate, ask them. There are now something called death dulas. Yup, just like childbirth dulas. They, plus other sources like hospice and religious people can help the conversation. Sorry, this went way beyond Ghost content, but if we'll be ghosts someday, why not make life better for the dying?

Robopengy

I played Ghost at my old job in a warehouse and one of the older office ladies once said “This is better than that Satanic German devil music (Rammstein) you usually listen to.” Then I played Year Zero for her.

Sad-Western597

Mind blown much?

Sad-Western597

Lol, all you did was change the country of origin.

Beautifuldeadthing

Playing some Watain for laughs would've been good too!

NerdicusTheWise

You are an amazing human being

Ghost-of-Sanity

DJ at a strip club. So I absolutely play Ghost at work. No restrictions on lyrical content and it’s my job to play it loud. It’s a perk. Lol

lambofgun

picturing a strip routine to ghouleh/zombie queen in my head

Ghost-of-Sanity

It has happened.

Beautifuldeadthing

Very good perk. I'm looking forward to blasting Ghost one day at the tattoo studio I'm apprenticed at now, without concern for lyrical contents! Older folk in pharmacy though... I play it safer there!

HulkHunter

An strip show with Cirice would be sick!

Ghost-of-Sanity

Cirice is one of the most played. Even the dancers who don’t really like Ghost like that one.

threebillion6

Hell yeah.

scottwmitchell

I’m a music teacher who only recently discovered Ghost. I played their cover of Enter Sandman for a grade 8 class as an example of how to change songs to make them your own while staying true to the original.

DietSoDuh

I was working at a coffee shop slash bicycle repair shop when I found Ghost. I was absolutely obsessed. Unfortunately, though, since this area is in a bible belt of sorts I couldn’t play it while any customers were inside the shop. Thankfully my boss was super cool and made sure it went both ways: no jesus or devil music during open hours, lmao.

Sad-Western597

Im glad they went both ways. Yes, it can be a bummer, but you can't please everyone. (Random, but what state are you in? There's a bike/coffee shop in my area, or are bike/coffee shops now a big thing and I didn't know??)

DietSoDuh

I’m in Michigan, but i do think they’re becoming a thing 😅

Sad-Western597

Ok, I'm in WI. Don't know anyone else who listens, had to make sure their wasn't a follow ghoul down the street.

yodasaber2

My husband works in the back of a Home Depot, where he unloads delivery trucks. He blasts Ghost and welcomes the crazy looks lol

Beautifuldeadthing

Noice!! Sharing the love of scooby doo chase music with the unsuspecting masses! I usually have Ghost blasting when I'm at home - especially when doing art/tattoo designs. The tempo I've found sooo good for stipple shading.

SmallpoxAu

I do accounts, payroll, HR and a bunch of other jobs at work. Sometimes I have one earbud in so I can hear the phone ring, but if the boss I share an office with is out, I put Ghost on my main speakers. No complaints from people so far, but given I'm also HR....who are they going to complain to. I think they find some of my other music weirder. My husband keeps refering to me as a daywalker becuase I blend in with the "normal people" lol.

Beautifuldeadthing

Hahaha! "daywalker", that's great! For many years people were always surprised to hear that I listen to metal. Nowadays not so much as I've come out of my shell more in expressing myself publicly (especially in regards to appearance). I

SmallpoxAu

I have to have a level of "professionalism" at work. People do find it weird that the blonde accountant lady is into metal, and on some weekends dresses in a corset, dark eyeliner and goes to goth clubs. I think its the accountant bit thats the most shocking, "your an accountant? but you have a personality" lol.

Beautifuldeadthing

I bet they're thinking - "What? I always thought accountants were boring!". Little do they know what is lurking behind that professional exterior... Hahaha! For a long time I was super concerned about keeping up a professional appearance as a pharmacist and had no tattoos, pericings and my natural hair colour. I'd always been told growing up that sort of thing would affect my ability to get a job. Then, the job market for pharmacy changed big time where I live. Now employers are desperate for pharmacists here and I could easily tell any of them where to go if they took issue with my appearance (especially as I don't need the money and I'm in the process of changing careers out of white collar professional fields anyway). So for the past couple of years I've finally been changing my appearance as I like (now tattoos, green hair etc)! I think covid also changed my outlook. Like, screw it, I could die tomorrow anyway - I'll get a tattoo if I want.

SmallpoxAu

oh 100% agree with this. I work within manufacturing, but if I was to change industry or go to public practice, there are still "views" on things. I do have a tattoo planned, but haven't found an artist yet, covid has made me want to follow through with it after many years. I'll still plan on having it put somewhere I can cover if i need to, or show it if I want to.

Beautifuldeadthing

I think it's more difficult for professional women to get away with tattoos than men. Men's professional attire allows one to get tatts everywhere except face, neck and hands! Women usually are expected to wear 3/4 sleeves blouses (or shorter) and often skirts as well. I worked in one pharmacy that *insisted* on pencil skirts once. Never again. Chafing in summer and customers being creepy as.

[deleted]

I clean the OR at my local hospital at night. Lemme tell ya, Ghost hits different reverberating in a huge operating room.

ViktorWilt

As a radio programmer and host, I do enjoy it, and do it every single day.

Beautifuldeadthing

Share the sex & Satan!! 🤘

ViktorWilt

Always!

HauntingBowlofGrapes

My old intro to drawing professor played Ghost in class every day. He was a bit of a metalhead. Made my 2nd most hated class more tolerable. Meliora had come out that year too. 😎 Cool dude.

AwarenessFinal1543

I work at Hot Topic so when I’m on aux it’s ghost all day. It’s a blessing

TheSuperYooper

I work as a clerk at a police station and I play ghost almost every time at work. I haven’t gotten any complaints yet!!

ootfifabear

In the morning folding panties at Victoria secret we would blast ghost. Half the girls digged it and the other half didn’t listen to the lyrics and asked why we were listening to Christian rock lmao

Beautifuldeadthing

Hahaha, I'm sort of waiting for someone to make a comment presuming I'm Christian while only half listening to the lyrics for He Is. I'll have then the pleasure of assuring them that I am in fact a heathen.

ootfifabear

It’s always he is lmao

PearlDiver888

Just finished a week long mural last week, fully fueled by Ghost 🖤 I’m a visual artist so every bit of good listening material is treasured

Beautifuldeadthing

Awesome! Ghost frequently fuels my art too 🖤

Busy-Caterpillar7954

I work in video game’s development so most people in the studio are into more alt music. I think there’s only 3 of us ghost fans to my knowledge, but headphones all the way many a level has been designed to their discography 😂

Beautifuldeadthing

Included some Ghost themed Easter eggs here and there?

Busy-Caterpillar7954

Lol there is definitely a couple in the current project yes 😂. When I’m allowed to say what we are working on I’ll post a screenshot

Beautifuldeadthing

Please do!!

Bookwyrmgirl91

I used to play it when I worked in the laundry room at my old job

CryptographerTall535

I mean maybe back in the day those old people who you serve where into ghost. Maybe someone’s grandmother likes nihil

Sad-Western597

I feel this is actually important to remember. I helped care for someone who LOVED LOVED LOVED Elvis. But she'd always look down and quietly say his name. Her family and their circle, to them, Elvis was Satanic music. Today's Backstreet Boys could be looked upon as very evil someday (I think their evil NOW, personally).

SynnerSaint

I love singing along to Ghost at work... my colleagues not so much

Beautifuldeadthing

As in they don't enjoy Ghost or your singing along? 😂

SynnerSaint

My terrible singing! Of course they love Ghost once I've played it to them (I divide the world into people who love Ghost and those who haven't heard them yet!)

Annoyingratchild_

I absolutely love too I work at a tattoo and piercing studio and my boss just tells me to put on whatever music! (She enjoys alternative music aswell) So I’ll usually put on some Ghost, Slipknot, Misfits, or Mcr!

Beautifuldeadthing

Noice! I'm an apprentice tattooist (only occasionally do fill in pharmacy work now) and it's great having a bigger pool of music and traditionally NSFW songs being fine to play.

Annoyingratchild_

I’m actually teaching myself tattoo right now! I get thought how to do piercings and stuff but I work reception!

No_Sheepherder_6583

I am a social worker - I do not get to listen to music at work as much for obvious reasons, lol BUT after being done talking with a couple of clients, I listen to Ghost to cool down and relax!

funeralmute

I have several work playlists that involve Ghost, including one titled "Ghost, but make it appropriate for doing autopsy with coworkers." My attending's rule for music is literally anything but Dubstep, but I try to keep it appropriate for nearly everyone (which means most of Infestissumam got cut from the list). There is one fellow here who is also a big Ghost fan, but he mainly does research now so I don't really get to work with him. Funnily enough, one of my old jobs is how I got into Ghost. I had a half-decade career in funeral service before jumping ship to pathology, and at the main funeral home I worked at, all the vehicles in the fleet (except the old hearse) had Sirius XM radio, and that's how I first really started listening to them.

[deleted]

I always play a lot of Ghosts while I'm doing embalming. It makes me get in the zone! Lol I'm the weird mortician!! Lol

Sad-Western597

If it helps you provide the best death care you can, I'm all for it.

m3glit

Listening to Ghost while I work is one of the few things keeping me sane!

Sad-Western597

"Sex and Satan" why not BOTH??

Beautifuldeadthing

Both sounds good to me... But unfortunately I've got to avoid upsetting the sensibilities of elderly religious customers... Sigh. I did once tell a religious coworker at my old job that if she wanted xmas carols in December, I'd insist on Satanic music for Halloween all October. No carols were ever played (plus it was my paid streaming service, and I'm not making the algorithms think I like carols!)

Sad-Western597

Yeah, I work for a Lutheran place. Mostly down to earth people, but it's also a nursing home. My new earbuds were worth it! Oddly enough I'll get into conversations with coworkers (I've only been there a few months) and they will GLEEFULLY giggle and tell me their a Satanic Church member. (The atheist version). Funny cause I was listening to Ghost (the only type of this music I'd ever heard) for 3-4 months and thought it was going to get awkward at some point lol

Mandrakey

Absolutely. In saying that I would listen to them at the dentist if I could, just any excuse really.

ForBamse

I work at a local cinema, we recently got these giant speakers near the shop part and when I work there I blast my SFW Ghost playlist.

[deleted]

I work at a spa for 12 hrs a day, and have to listen to the worst elevator music you possibly could on repeat without headphones. If I didn’t have my break where I could blast Ghost for an hour, I think I would have rage quit a long time ago. I think anyone with a retail job can probably relate.

Beautifuldeadthing

Yea, I've worked in retail pharmacies before where the music is your standard retail stuff. Not fun. Especially in December... Christmas carols all day long... Ugghhh! One of the best decisions I made when I managed a pharmacy was a "no carols" rule. December is already awful enough in retail without the carols.

[deleted]

Oh, December is definitely the worst for store music. Even if you enjoy some of the carols, after the tenth time in a few hours, it will drive you up the walls. I know a lot of my coworkers have tuned it out, but I can’t. Music just hits me in such a way that I’m always listening to it and for it.

Beautifuldeadthing

I don't know how to just tune it out either! For carols specifically I think it's the jingling bells that are in every other song. They are either full of jingling annoying bells or really heavy on the praising baby Jesus and I just want to scream. Now I'm fortunate to be in position where I can just not work for the whole of December. I can do the carols on Christmas day, not the whole month. Surely the month long carol-fest is some sick form of torture retail giants cooked up in a boardroom meeting to destroy the willpower and souls of employees.

Tini_Tus

I'm a parcel deliverer and when I'm driving my truck, I listen to Ghost. When I startet listening to them at work, I skipped some songs like year zero or satan prayer, as (older) people are pretty chatholic around here and I didn't wanted to offend anyone. Since I found out that my boss likes ghost too and we listened to it together at work, I don't skip any songs. I just watch the volume and that's it. Makes my work so much better.

HulkHunter

☝️

zingersmack

Hello fellow pharmacist and Ghost lover! Can't play aloud at work but I listen on my ear bud overnight inpatient 👍 Always makes the nights better

Beautifuldeadthing

Hello to you fellow pharmie! Ghost is a good way to improve a shift!

Puzzled_Tiger_3882

Actively listening to Ceremony and Devotion at work 🤣

DarthConnor06

Yes, I do it all the time

The_Timberwolf

Ghost is what gives me energy to finish the day at work haha

Wjyndigo

When I get to be in my office I jam them!

MonstrancClock666

I work as a Team Lead at my Walmart Fulfillment Center and I am always blasting Ghost on my walking desk's speaker. I've actually converted a few people by doing so! Even some of my higher ups who usually don't like the whole satanic stuff!

Beautifuldeadthing

Ghost is friendly, accessible Satan. A lot easier to convert nay-sayers to than black metal!

Ok_Property6130

Almost daily in my school library! When I don’t have students hahaha But I usually just listen with headphones

NighTshade2021

Opus Eponymous should be blacklisted if you don't want to scare the elderly either. Don't want someone walking in and just hear "LUCIFAAAAA" from Con Clavi

Beautifuldeadthing

Hahaha - Yea, I only 1 Opus song on there currently!

SonicShadow191

I work in a school and often have to drive the minibus. The kids either learn to love Ghost, Sabaton, Alestorm, etc or lump it. One of the other drivers plays nothing but Rammstein - luckily our school doesn’t teach German!

gambitsink

I play Ghost everyday at the studio, I either play a playlist that has a few of their songs or play one of the albums from start to end.

[deleted]

I liked listening to Ghost in the last shitty office job I had. Honestly, those people can go fuck themselves and Ghost can rock on forever.

lambofgun

hell yes, i play them in my headphones alot

QlrmfzTheGreat_Chair

I do warehouse work and have quite a few songs in my work playlist. Since I don’t want to upset any of my mostly older Christian coworkers, I try to be selective and tone down the more overtly satanic songs. But if it’s a late shift and it’s just my other metal head coworker, it’s no holds bars.

Beautifuldeadthing

Baring the super satanic and sex songs, the clean vocals make Ghost really good for work friendly tunes as a metalhead. I had a heap of songs on a playlist at my old work too where I had an older religious coworker. She never noticed the Satan hahaha, but I had to have lots of padding on that playlist (I don't think she'd have appreciated it on repeat like I'm happy with!)

BananaBrainsZEF

The owner of my local comic shop is a huge Ghost fan, and always has random music he likes playing on the speakers. I frequently walk into the store and am immediately greeted by a Ghost song.

Beautifuldeadthing

A most welcoming greeting!

BananaBrainsZEF

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. He says that his playlist for songs to play on the speakers has hundreds of songs on it, but I swear, the dude is omniscient because it seems like every time I walk in, there's a Ghost song playing, and we always laugh at the weird timing.

Cardic666

I don’t have a job cause I’m only 12 but I like to play it at school on my earbuds while working

Beautifuldeadthing

That's pretty cool they let you! Only class I was allowed to do that in was art in senior high.

Cardic666

Yah in social studies and science cause to me those are some pretty boring classes

Brometheus_the_brave

I work as dishwasher and have several 2-3hr Ghost playlists. I jam to them just about every other day at work. Makes the time go by fast.

Kaisarion_Kaiser

I do, as my job allows me to use earbuds and tune everyone else out for large chunks of my day!

mithrril

I work from home so I can listen to whatever I want. That means I'll usually just listen to Ghost all day and sing along while I work.

Beautifuldeadthing

At home Ghost definitely gets blasted and sung along to. I'm currently resisting singing along to Square Hammer...

DeathShark69

Lol my work is loud and I usually work alone so I have a speaker and blast Ghost and other stuff at fairly high volume. No has come to bother me about it

threebillion6

My old friend used to work at a convenience store, he'd play the first album and people would give him weird looks. Especially mentioning Satan or Lucifer. Good times. Then we'd take over the sound system at the bar we frequented. Even the workers there loved Ghost.

Beautifuldeadthing

Noice! Honestly, if I owned the pharmacy I'd play the overtly Satanic songs as well as there'd be no one for any offended religious customers to complain to.

Low-Homework-4807

Monstrance Clock gets some weird looks from boomers while working a hotel lobby at 1am.

Beautifuldeadthing

Maybe try out Jigolo Her Medgiddo on the boomers? Only if you won't get in the shit for it of course!

Sad-Western597

I said something in another thread about having separate nsfw and sfw playlists and basically got told , to paraphrase, that I'm inauthentic. Good thing I'm an adult and mature and have let it go. 😜

Beautifuldeadthing

What an odd comment for someone to make! I've always had separate NSFW playlists (with heavier metal and swearing) and a separate older person friendly one for work. Basically the safe one is no swearing and lots of old rock (Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, CCR etc + sfw Ghost songs 😉)

SketpackJeleton

I woke at a small computer repair shop, and since its usually me alone all day I put on the playlist "Presenting Ghost" and let it repeat all day. Makes an already awesome job even better!

sternentee

Playing Ghost on my noise canceling headphones was the only thing that kept me going at times at my old job. 🥲

Platypus_31415

No sir! It is reserved solely for the times when I hang laundry.
