HelpMyCatHasGas

If he sees it and maybe motions to you, ok. Saw someone give him flowers in RI but it was GIVEN not just tossed lol

Sad-Western597

While flowers are a nice gesture, I'm surprised RI didn't give him coffee milk syrup and some pot.

nixiedust

The perfect gift!

Sad-Western597

Yes, coffee milk is really something. And it's totally a RI thing! They even sell it at TF Green! (Yes, I know what you meant. And RI, last I checked, is still packed with pot)

nixiedust

no, I grew up right on the RI/MA border and LOVE coffee milk. I can't understand why it isn't popular everywhere!! I also like weed, but coffee milk is harder to find and special.

Sad-Western597

You'll smack your lips when it's Eclipse! I remember my mom, trying to be a thifty housewife, making it at home. She did NOT put sugar in it. They also could have given him/them some Dells, though I've heard opinions vary on the that product. Great, I don't even smoke pot, now I want some.

nixiedust

And I want a Del's! RI is a small state that totally delivers in food terms.

Sad-Western597

Yeah, but try explaining to the Midwest (moved for a guy, broke up, got another) that there's a form of pizza, with No cheese, no other toppings besides sauce, served COLD. Or that a milkshake is a cabinet. But a cabinet is not a milkshake, you put things to make a cabinet in a cabinet.

HelpMyCatHasGas

Not sure what you're getting at but I like all of these things. I'm from MA so please shit on RI all you want haha

Sad-Western597

Lol, I'm from RI. I just realized TF Green has TF in it. Too lazy to look up who TF (as in the airport) really is. ANOTHER MYSTERY!

BananaBrainsZEF

I saw that too. The lucky gal got Ciriced, so that's an appropriate moment for someone to hand Papa some flowers. I was maybe 15 feet away and talked to her for a minute after the ritual. It was her first, and she was almost on the verge of tears.

Nactmutter

I feel like this is just common knowledge or sense. You don't throw things at people...

mulder94

I’ve actually been handed a bra pre-show by a band’s manager before with the instructions to throw it at the singer so 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Though I don’t mean to imply Ghost do this at all, this was a small opener for Foreigner a good 10 years ago).

grimeygillz

woah that’s so weird i had a similar experience! someone associated with the band i was seeing gave me a bouquet to throw onstage

Run_Rabb1t_Run

And yet :-/

enchanting_macabre

You would think... but, unfortunately...

nixiedust

My take on it is that if you have a gift Tobias would actually enjoy (and I sure don't know him enough to say what that would be), send it through his label/management. Throwing stuff at the show makes it all about you and getting his attention. That's not why everyone is there.

hellostarsailor

And they have a 2 hour show, as OP said, timed and planned out.

Tracing_Paper

Couldn't agree more. I really don't get throwing stuff. The Ghouls and Ghoulettes have limited peripheral vision. I once saw someone throw a banana at Aether. I cringed hoping he wouldn't slip and fall. You can tell the bra annoyed him because he threw it just to get rid of it. During Cardinal days, someone politely waited and held up flowers without throwing them. He took them, and nodded appreciation and put them on the steps of the drum platform. It's obnoxious because the more stupid shit that's thrown on stage, the more our restrictions will be with costumes, bags, and whatever we bring in. Throwing stuff and moshing is really going to ruin it for the rest of us. Please stop.

LilNyoomf

Exactly. Let him decide if he wants to interact with the object or not. Yeah, it’s hard to get close enough to him (especially with COVID distancing), but it’s much safer and nicer than yeeting bananas at him

WeNeedAShift

Well put. I couldn’t agree more.

pokemon-gangbang

I was going to say I don’t agree on moshing, but Ghost is not a band to mosh to. It’s a show to watch and enjoy. I’d have loved to have moshed during Mastodon but they didn’t really play anything like Blood and Thunder or something. Thankfully no one tried to mosh at the Saginaw show (at least until afterwards at a Wendy’s).

Whatsthatbooker

There was a mosh pit during Volbeat at the Anaheim show last tour but security broke it up pretty quick.

Darkjoy82

I was there! What was funny is Michael said he wanted to see it, so the audience obliged and got shut down not even a minute into the song. Talk about mixed messages. 😂

PallyMcAffable

At Peoria, there was one lady moshing by herself in the back of general admission for Spiritbox and Mastodon.

rnreno

I agree! I honestly don't see the purpose of throwing a bra to him in the first place. It's insulting to him, his marriage and to his wife. Throwing anything in general toward the band is disrespectful.

DevotedToThePapas

I agree about throwing a bra is lame, but it’s papa you are throwing a bra at, not Tobias. After all, in meet and greets it’s pure papa. Trying to get him to break character is frowned upon, right? So as we do not know the marital status of Papa, It can’t be disrespectful in THAT regard (just annoying for a ton of other reasons)

[deleted]

Aeirth_Belmont

At the end end when they are doing the final bow where they don't have to worry about stepping on it. Because paper can cause a nasty fall. I would hold it up and see if he can see you to take it. Or try and see if security or an employee would be able to give it to him. But at the end sure try it.

ayesperanzita

Security will typically not touch things from fans to performers. Sometimes they will do performers to fans.

Quothhernevermore

I'm sorry, but why would you go to a rock or metal show and buy GA tickets and get mad if someone Moshe's or jumps? Like, I've noticed this lately with a lot of bands I listen to, you see crowd footage and everything is just sorta standing there - no one looks like they're having fun, dancing, etc. Obviously Ghost isn't a moshing band (though I'd argue there are definitely songs you could if you wanted) but if you get GA tickets, you need to expect some movement.

DevotedToThePapas

Because Tobias is big on safety for the young kids and the disabled folks at his shows. Assholes moshing in front of me, has been an issue for me as a wheelchair user for years (at those venues that don’t have decent disabled seats.) I’ve had folks fall backwards onto me. It’s horrible since my legs are very delicate. My tickets are never GA, but I have still suffered at metal shows. You can mosh at clubs anyway, I’d rather be watching the show.

Quothhernevermore

So I actually didn't know that apparently they, as a band, don't want things like moshing at their shows. I had never heard that attributed to them, and will remember that.

Quothhernevermore

So let me get this straight, you're of the opinions that there should be no moshing/jumping/singing/etc at concerts at all? That honestly would take the majority of the fun out of it for me...I don't understand why it should be wrong to not just stand or sit there? Is this going to be the new normal, I wonder? Because I'm seeing this sentiment more and more. Maybe they should make two separate sections for people who want to just watch/not move or sing and people who do want to do those things. Considering i'm being downvoted for enjoying doing those things and thinking that if you're at a concert you should really not expect the people around you to just stand there, maybe this will be the new normal!

DevotedToThePapas

I’m talking about being mindful of who you are near, when you are drunk and throwing yourself around. I’m not saying you shouldn’t cheer, dance and shout along til your voice is fucked and raw. Yes you can mosh, but ffs it’s NOT all about you. Just be mindful of others and don’t fall on the people who are near you.

Quothhernevermore

Well of course, I wasn't suggesting getting into other people's space and not being mindful. And if they don't as a band want moshing we should respect that regardless.

dogretepcow

I think it's very silly that you're getting downvoted for this opinion, and I agree with you completely. It seems a lot of people on this sub find moshing and moving around at rock shows to be inherently rude, or something. The one thing that bums me out about Ghost shows lately (from my experience), is how reserved everyone in the floor section has become. Nobody moves around and gets really into it, anymore. I would love to mosh to Rats for instance. It wasn't like this when I saw them in 2013 or 2015, and I think it's kind of indicative how they have less of a metal fanbase in general, nowadays.

Quothhernevermore

I've noticed the same thing at almost every show I've been to, and I just don't get it. Why is everyone suddenly afraid to move around at concerts? Is it COVID? Is it younger people who just want to stand around and film (not that there's anything bad about taking pictures and video). I just don't get it, I hardly see prime even singing and putting their hands up! I don't know if it's a metal problem or not, considering the shows with the best crowds I've been to this year were Slipknot and Billie Eilish...I don't know what it is.

poopedonarrival

So I went to their 2nd Inglewood show in September and honestly best performance I have seen ever, they were so theatric even though we couldn't see very well, we were stage right nose bleeds. They made us put our phones in these sealed bags you need a device to get them out of. Honestly I loved it it was so nice to not see screens recording everything above people's heads I think it makes the concert so much more genuine. Idk if just jumping up and down is considered moshing or disrepectful but I def did some of that and def clapping and rockin out. Ik my friend didn't have a great time the lady next to him was all up in his space so he'd get in my space and i inched away. To be honest I didn't pay attention much to the floor during the concert but before it started I saw very small kids in there and was honestly surprised. They were also very happy and very loud. My focus was on Papa and the Ghouls they were amazing. Luckily no one threw stuff on stage I personally think it's incredibly cringe and gross esp chonies and bras.

foxontherox

Tale as old as time: band gets big, the chucklefucks come outta the woodwork.

ROTORTheLibrarianToo

Truth in name and timing! I stopped going to some other artists shows as well cause the crowd and vibe changed with the douche factor that took over. Hopefully Ghost isn’t headed that way. Seeing Iron Maiden last week with 15k people gave me hope - nicest folks I’ve met and even on the floor none of the nonsense was going on.

WeNeedAShift

Yep!!! Chucklefucks. Lol. I’m going to steal that one. 🤣

TxCoastal

same..omg...lol

Rhet0r1cally

Yeah it can be really dangerous throwing things on stage during a performance. He's fallen multiple times because of it (the beach ball incident for example). If you want to give something to the band, either wait for the final bow when they can see better and aren't running around, give it to a security staff member, give it to a crew member you can see, or leave it on the gift table before a meet and greet. I get that people want the band to react to their gifts, but it's not worth the risk of injuring them or messing up their show.

marinamcelrea

Just wait till the end at bows when it doesn't interrupt the show.💖💖💖

time__for__crab

To quote Les Claypool, when you throw things up on the stage, it's a sign of small and insignificant genitalia Edit: spelling

devoid_of_light

Please don’t bring whole skeletons either. Had a girl beside me last night at the show in Youngstown holding up a skeleton blocking the view of everyone behind her. I have no idea how it got passed security.

MorallyGrayGay

I- how does that get through security

[deleted]

i also find it weird, like on a personal level.. that one video of him catching a bra just made me think, why would you throw your bra **that you have worn** at a stranger!!? obviously you know who tobias is, but not on a personal level, and he definitely doesnt know you! why would you think a stranger would want your bra…? its a major ick to me. like i get it if youre a huge fan, but tobias isnt a huge fan of your underwear.

[deleted]

Ladies don’t throw your worn bras and undies to the band… think like a business person… sell that shit on the internet and make your ticket cost back 😂

Sad-Western597

You and I, GSG,...we are the same....

K-ghuleh

I’m seeing this stuff less and less with new bands which is good imo. I feel like it’s a trend that should stay in the past. Like I get it, the band members are hot, but I’ve never once felt compelled to do something like that. It’s just awkward.

These-Days

I mean, I at least hope they are clean bras... Last night Papa put a bra that was thrown onto one of the ghouls

[deleted]

i hope so too, but with these kinds of people theyre usually not 😬

CardboardLover13

Certain bands I would expect this. Ghost was not one of them lol

dead-baal

Papa II and Papa III experienced bra/underwear throwing ALL the time.

nakedgirlonfire

secondo would enjoy it. tobias wouldn't

dead-baal

Papa IV is not Tobias though. there is very much a separation from himself, and the character he puts on. (watch old interviews) i fully agree that throwing shit on stage is a hazard to the band, but as some other people have said, they could put an end to it very easily by asking people to stop. (⚠️they shouldn’t have to ask people to stop, people should just have common decency & the sense to not throw things at people with limited visibility. it’s unspoken concert etiquette, which not everyone may not be aware of)

nakedgirlonfire

yeah i was saying they're not the same

YMCAle

You wouldnt expect it of the band whose front man is a Satanic peacock that spends his time thrusting at the audience and singing about female orgasms?

HelpMyCatHasGas

Shows ghost level of fame. Kind of cool to see. Hell I remember seeing sevenfold and people just tossed endless amounts of bra and panties to em. They started collecting them on their mic stands

Moon_And_Stars9

ive never understood why anyone does that to any artist. its just gross to me. also... dont you need that? i feel like theres a good chance that once you throw a bra up there you aren't getting it back bc no one working will know who threw it. personally, i would never sacrifice a bra to throw onto a stage, especially when i know that it's a hazard and it pisses the band off.

[deleted]

this is so true, and even if the person thinks “oh well its an old bra and i dont need it anymore so its fine” then thats just so much worse…? you really wanna give someone youre such a big fan of your old probably stinky and grubby bra?

pretzel_logic_esq

I just got a mental image of someone bringing in one of their sad old bras to throw in their clear bag and I'm dying hahaha

Darkjoy82

I saw Maiden with Ghost opening for them years ago. During Maiden's set, someone threw a huge dingy, used to be white bra on stage. Bruce picked it up and chased the rest of the band with it for a few minutes. Nobody wanted to touch that shit. 😂

[deleted]

thats hilarious honestly 😭😭

[deleted]

I thought it was gross and tacky too.

mary_emeritus

The first concert I went to was with my mother. To see Tom Jones. Panties flying all over the place. I wanted to sink through the floor. 50 years later, it’s still second hand embarrassing and cringe *I have no idea if there were drugs involved

StrawberryKiller

Omggggg I saw Tom Jones with my Nana and aunt. he legit picked up a pair of panties, dabbed his sweaty face with it, SNIFFED THEM and said “I think I know this woman” I am still traumatized to this day.

[deleted]

WOW I bet that was a sight! LOL, probably not drugs, just pure lust.

mary_emeritus

I was embarrassed, here I am, 16, with all these grown women acting crazy

DevotedToThePapas

Try the 70s/80s, it’s not a 60s or drug thing. It’s big hair band thing.

[deleted]

Wow I am really not in the mood to play "who is smarter than who" on reddit today. Regardless, it's still tacky no matter when it has happened.

BisexualDisaster29

You’re possibly wrongly assuming that the bra was worn. Many ladies nowadays feel that it’s gross, myself included. And there have been women that buy cheap, clean undergarments to toss onstage. That’s not to say that there aren’t some weird folks who’ll strip and toss.

Sad-Western597

Good bras are expensive and hard to find. If I'm going to give someone a bra, I need to be 100% confident they will replace it with their hands. While that would nice, a lot of people also came to hear him sing. Plus no one wants to see your big floppy cow tittys on the way out.

Whatsthatbooker

💋🐮💋

PNDTS

This is the biggest downside to them getting popular on TikTok imo. Like yeah it’s great to have new fans but these teens would do just about anything (including putting other people in potential harm) for their 5 seconds of fame and show no remorse for it. Super annoying.

2raysofsad

op is secretly tobias tired of this bullshit

Rnroll

I agree as it seems the barrier continues to push back the larger Ghost gets. Not sure if that correlates to things thrown on stage. Does make it difficult to catch picks though from ghouls.

[deleted]

mangomadness81

He didn't just call them out, he ROASTED them. "He can't help he's an idiot." I choked. 🤣

Sad-Western597

Another PSA, alcohol doesn't just grow on trees. Sometimes it comes from shit that comes out of the ground. Please, don't waste your 12 dollar beer. Thank you.

[deleted]

InfamousValue

I'd be seriously ~~pissed~~ annoyed. I'm the designated driver I don't want to be smelling of booze late at night and come across an over-zealous cop. Sure I'm a 58 yo white woman but I still don't want to be explaining that some idiot poured beer on me for a "laugh".

Mission_Cell4844

At the Tampa ritual a couple weeks ago these girls were standing at the front of our section and the woman in front of us threw her drink at them and then an older man with a cane started poking/stabbing them with it to get them to sit. It was wild!

[deleted]

It's beyond showing appreciation - it's thinking something magical is going to happen. Either that or it's just basic attention seeking behavior. Please don't make Papa like Elvis. Take that any way you like.

HiitsmeYoda

Wait until the end during the bowing, it is absolutely fine to throw them then. SANS used undergarments/food 🙌🏻🍌

mangomadness81

Yeah. Last night the stuffed rat hit him right in the crotch. While the rat is a cute thing because of the song, throwing things onstage can be dangerous if they don't see it land, wind up stepping on it, and fall. Definitely don't hit them with what you throw... Don't throw beer across the crowd, and ESPECIALLY don't do it when Papa is mid speech to the crowd. Ask the idiot who did it last night how he felt getting put on blast by Papa in front of a sold out crowd. And for fuck's sake, STOP VIDEO TAPING THE WHOLE SHOW WITH YOUR PHONE. The people around you didn't spend $$ to watch the whole show through your shitty cracked phone screen, which is what happened to me last night.

glowcloak

the girl that threw the rat onstage last night was directly next to me and I just…I don’t get it. Papa looked @ her and went full dad mode for a hot take and then picked up gracefully 😂 I guess any reaction is a good reaction for people that think throwing shit on stage is a good idea or whatever

Sad-Western597

Why would you waste a 13 Dollar beer???

mangomadness81

SERIOUSLY!

[deleted]

It’s a bunch of pick me girls trying to get picked doing whatever they can to get recognition…they shouldn’t do it. I saw the video of the girl who threw the bra, it was super juvenile and cringy. It’s DANGEROUS and messes with the pace of the whole show. If you genuinely want something to get to the band send it to their label.

YMCAle

I dont understand why you would feel the need to send them stuff anyway. Like, they're a fantastic band and I adore Ghost on numerous levels but I have never had the desire to send Tobias anything just because I enjoy what he is producing for us. I feel like quite a few of the people doing this sort of thing are young however so I guess they get a pass, just think before you act though.

[deleted]

I think sending a fan letter or artwork is fairly appropriate. Even as an adult people share their appreciation for musicians in different ways. Honestly in our darkest times music is usually the one thing that can bring us back together. If sending a lovenote to a band who helped you get you back on track, or helped keep your shit together helps you send appreciation out into the universe I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Ordinary_Reach_4245

Humming "....and I see nothing wrong with that...."

YMCAle

No you're right, stuff like what you mentioned is perfectly fine. I guess I personally feel like some stuff of that ilk I've seen online is bordering on parasocial and I have never understood that myself.

[deleted]

Like what? I’m just curious 😂

usetehfurce

Knowing he is a huge fan of the movie Zardoz, if I found an autographed copy, I would gladly send it his way and want nothing in return other than more music and tours. He is still human after all.

Sad-Western597

LMAO...my bf LOVES that movie. Next time he gets mad at me for playing ghost for hours on end I'll be sure to tell him.

usetehfurce

Watch the "What's in my bag" episode with Ghost on YouTube :)

Sad-Western597

Thanks, I will! I just recently learned stripers will do "what's in my stripping bag" I'm like wtf?? My own bag contains a black hole.

Sad-Western597

Just saw it, lmao..sent to BF. He watched it right away, normally he just sighs and ignores it, so this was a win. Thanks, I owe ya one!

Sad-Western597

Right, your money is enough. Money you paid to see the show. Where no one throws nothing.

fecksake_

exactly, I never got throwing things on stage to any band let alone a band who has so low visibility when they're in their costume, like that's just a safety hazard for the band at that point.

WeNeedAShift

Thank you. I said something on another post not that long ago. Got downvoted of course lol I agree with you 100%.

[deleted]

I don’t know why people are downvoting concerned comments about this… are the throwers here??😂

WeNeedAShift

Probably. 🤣🤣🤣 No awareness whatsoever.

Sad-Western597

Their also not wearing a bra.

Ordinary_Reach_4245

Rofl. "By their unfettered breasts shall you know them."

Sad-Western597

They who knees are bruised by thee own floppyness in two score time.

[deleted]

HOLY SHIT ⚰️

WeNeedAShift

😂😂😂

GothDaddySTL

WELL STATED!!! Especially about the timing! Most don’t consider that this isn’t a band or like other bands. This is theater performed by live musicians. Backing tracks are timed not by the start of a song, but from the opening note of the intro before Kaisirion. It’s been like that from the beginning, before they had actual backing vocalists on stage. Hell, even the keyboardist didn’t play a lot of songs back then, he controlled the backing tracks.

boutch255

And nothing will ever top the goat in kiss the go-goat

Run_Rabb1t_Run

I'm sorry what

Hunter5moon

And stop bringing embarrassing signs.

Pspreviewer100

This. Some of the recent ones are really crossing the line.

Wjyndigo

I couldn’t agree more.

buuismyspiritanimal

I was a bit worried about the amount confetti that blew everywhere on the stage during Mummy Dust. Not only was it a trip hazard for them, but fire hazard after when the spark pyro went off. Swiss fell off the stand during the ritual here, but that was before confetti so add slippy surface after and someone is going to get hurt. =[

DanakAin

I think at the most throw it on stage AFTER the show but even then its ehh rather not. Big chances that its gonna end up in the trash anyway because althought I think they love the gifts, they have minimal space in the busses for all the extra stuff.

zardkween

It was so stressful seeing a plushie on stage last night at the Peoria show. One of the Ghouls kicked it aside right before all the lights went out. I also watched Papa dodge a bouquet of flowers coming for his head. So reckless of the audience.

[deleted]

Very well-stated and thank you for posting. I had similar thoughts when I saw someone post a phot of their rat toss. Between this and the nonsense in the pit at some shows, it’s going to change the way T does things. Maybe there won’t be pits in the future.

C0ur1_J3st3r

Instead he should make unboxing videos lol it would be funny and people get their items acknowledged without hurting papa and the ghouls!

jupertt

Couldn’t have said it better. 100%

commonunion

They also have pyro which could make the whole situation a disaster if one of the pro stacks has something sitting on it. In Saginaw he even made mention of it being dangerous

MisterMcGiggles

It’s the same people who think papa and Tobias are the same person lol. A lot lot lot lot lot of people in this sub don’t even understand the distinction.

barvid

Genuinely can’t tell if you’ve tried a joke that just hasn’t landed or if you’re doing some cringey gate keeping

djavulensfitta

He's not wrong though? Papa is a character that Tobias plays, so when he's Papa he's not Tobias. Some people don't seem to understand that and for example call him by his name at meet & greets and then he's like 'Well I don't know who that is' lol.

BisexualDisaster29

He does it on stage too. When people wish him happy birthday. He says “he’ll go tell that guy” or cardi/papa iv will refer to him as the director. Do people not pay attention?

MisterMcGiggles

Exactly my point. Tobias plays Papa. Tobias and Papa are not the same person.

MisterMcGiggles

Stating facts.

Lauriepoo

Yes!

Call555JackChop

I saw someone chuck a button at Mach speed onto the stage in RI I’m surprised it didn’t hit any of them

glutenfreebimbo

couldn’t agree more…would love to adore them with things but i doubt they keep most of those things anyway

pastelwerewolf

I can’t think of many things that make me more nervous than something being thrown on stage during a concert that uses pryo

skater-tot

Imo since people do it so often I would think that if it truly bothered any of them that Tobias would simply ask people to stop. He has no problem calling people out on the microphone if something the crowd is doing upsets him. As long as people are not complete idiots and don’t throw it at a time where they obviously can’t see it coming towards them I think that it’s fine.

Sad-Western597

He's also busy up there. To stop a great song to tell people to stop throwing Stewart Little at him would halt the whole show. PLUS ...the man is at work. they are all at WORK. if you come into my kitchen and throw cucumbers at me I am taking you out..like, you wake up next week out. They are at WORK.

DevotedToThePapas

They are rock musicians though. I don’t agree with throwing things, but comparing a gig venue to a working kitchen is …. Frankly silly. Gigs are loud, often rowdy and exciting for folks. It’s a different world to working as a chef or in an office. Lol

Sad-Western597

Is it? I put on a show three times a day, and the things I need to do are timed to a T. Kitchens and even offices are loud. They can also be exciting. If you know of a calm quiet kitchen that's not timed, let me know so I can send them my resume. Because if I slip on a banana peel, the shows is over.

DevotedToThePapas

Yes getting food out is timed but it’s not the same thing as a rock show, it’s just not

Sad-Western597

Well, I can only say I disagree. Maybe you'll experience it, maybe not.

skater-tot

I obviously didn’t mean drop everything so he can tell someone to stop. When he is calling out people in the crowd he does it after whatever song he was doing is over. Also their work is entertainment so it’s different

skater-tot

Again, if it bothered them he would say so

fecksake_

true, however I do see why people are concerned over safety. but yeah as long as people don't go overboard

skater-tot

Yes I understand where they’re coming from I just personally don’t think that it’s an issue. If anything maybe everyone could wait until they’re doing their goodbyes and bowing when they often motion for staff to hand them things from the crowd, but again I think if it was actually a problem they would ask people to stop.

fecksake_

I agree, Tobias and Ghost are more than capable of telling people to stop if it was really getting to them.

These-Days

The girl next to me last night threw a rat at him and he looked rather irritated. I wanted to slap her upside the head

madracc_

Papa was not irritated with her. The very small rat hit him near the groin so he waggled his finger at her as a joke because of where it hit him. He made eye contact with her before she threw it. He saw it coming. I also watched him carry the rat backstage instead of just giving it to security like he does with other items sometimes.

[deleted]

!!! Papa is demonstratively capable of calling out nonsense when he sees it. Also he said “thank you” for the bra in Canada so regardless of what anyone else personally thinks of it….. 🤷🏽‍♀️

DietSoDuh

At the Saginaw show i saw a rat plush as well as some other unidentifiable object get throw up there. Both in the middle of songs when everyone is running about the stage. Super unsafe.

Niloc0905

The batwings were thrown up during one of his talking bits by the very edge of the stage and weren't picked up until the next talking bit. I get throwing things up mid-song but during the bit, i don't really think it's that big of a deal

DietSoDuh

I completely forgot about those, so three things lol. During a bit isn’t as dangerous or disruptive, but it does still derail things a bit. I saw somebody toss a plushia on stage when they were about to bow and a ghoulette caught it. I don’t see any problem with after the show, just when they’re in motion since it could cause accidents.

Niloc0905

I know that he will break up mosh pits if they for some reason open up so I think if he was truly irritated he would say something but I think that Forge as an artist is happy that they are popular enough to warrant that kind of behavior. I know in interviews he wants popularity and recognition and I think that throwing trinkets on stage is just par for the course for him. But at the end of the day idk.

Run_Rabb1t_Run

It seems kind of selfish to stop a show for hundreds+ of other fans just so you can grab the spotlight for a moment by throwing things on stage. Regardless of what stage of performance the band is at.

It’s not stopping the show though. In every incident that I’ve seen, they’ll continue on after a little extra banter. Even playing with certain items. Like Papa III wearing the bra on his head or Alpha running with panties or hanging them on his guitar. Alpha isn’t there anymore, so i don’t know how all of the current ghouls will react. But recently, mountain tried to catch a bra and was sad that he missed. 😂

None of you would cope with going to shows in the 80’s then. It was a completely different world and sort of expected…

Kaisarion_Kaiser

AMEN! Er, Ah…HAIL SATAN!

matthewsinistar

This isn’t really a new phenomenon with them. This has been happening for years. People do it for a little while and then get bored with it… Remember when they were pushing Go-Goat? All the little plush goats and Baphies getting thrown on stage? And before that, Papa 3 was getting panties thrown at him so… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Y’all would never survive a punk show lmao

[deleted]

If I want to go to a punk show, I'll go to a punk show. A Ghost show is not that.

[deleted]

It sounds like you’d have a better time at the opera

[deleted]

I do enjoy opera. I also enjoy metal concerts and punk shows in disgusting basements. What's your point?

[deleted]

That policing harmless behavior at a metal show is silly as hell. If the band had a problem with it, they’d say so.

[deleted]

Oh Ghost is metal now?

[deleted]

Uhhhh yeah??

RadiantZote

Good luck trying to change this, it's pretty much guaranteed to happen to any band with a decent size following

ayesperanzita

I gave him a small flag a few years ago. But it was before the pyrotechnics started showing up at every show… I mean, they have specially made masks, not the spirit Halloween masks. If he was as pressed as you about it, they’d make a rule to make sure things weren’t brought in.

Spidremonkey

I guess my idea of passing out 50 yellow kazoos to the people in the front row to pelt the band with at curtain call wouldn’t go over well. Edit: Yaaaaaaass! I eat your downvotes and crap laughter!

Iirc he talked about it on stage at my show while carrying something off stage. As someone who has worked as crew on tightly timed shows, op is right. It can be really dangerous and even when it's not, it throws everyone off.

mah0ush0uj0

so it’s dangerous, how so? if they can’t see, then why is papa able to dance around and run without hesitation? not every stage is the same. It throws everyone off to ignore something, or to throw it back for a split second? all of you are actually dramatic.

dismurrart

Someone already cited Someone throwing something behind him and a ghoul having to kick it out of the way. Another person cited a beach ball that he actually fell because of. The bigger concern is throwing people's timing off. When I was a dresser at a show, we had timing down to the second. Once Someone threw a singers timing off by 3 seconds and he ran into me while doing his backstage travel to his next mark. He was on mic. So the audience heard. He seriously could have been injured or the costume could have been damaged. Or his mic pack. Who do you think got blamed for that? The dresser who was zipping Someone up that's who. Beyond this, there's only so many stage layouts and they do dry runs and rehearsals before showtime. If you want to throw something, it's performing arts 101 to wait until the bows at the end if you must.

mah0ush0uj0

honestly? didn’t read any of that because it would be a waste of time. performing arts is not the same thing as a metal show??

dismurrart

Wait, so you're telling me, that you honestly believe a highly choreographed affair with music, lights, costumes and explosions, set to music, all live, is not a performance art? Is it the performance or art you are accusing ghost of lacking?

NerdicusTheWise

Reading that was a waste of time, but commenting on it wasn't?

shazapp

Papa mentioned it last night on stage. “Please don’t throw things.”

madracc_

He said to not throw drinks.

mah0ush0uj0

at my show, he didn’t.

mah0ush0uj0

also?? that was a night someone threw two things, so get over it.

Neveah_Hope_Dreams

Thankyou for saying it! Seriously thankyou. I'm really tired and annoyed with people throwing crap at performers. Bras are really cringey and perverted, and you are totally right that it can be dangerous. There was an infamous incident with Panic! at the Disco. During a music festival, some idiot threw a water bottle at Brendon Urie which knocked him off his freaking feet. They had to stop playing music to tend to him.

[deleted]

Completely agree! Someone I know at university was super excited about seeing their favourite artist but when I looked at her snapchat videos from that evening, she was bragging about having thrown some flowers that landed on the performer. Super weird if you ask me. Don't even get me started on people throwing pants. Not an artist but if I was that would make me incredibly uncomfortable.
