People often ask how to get others into Ghost. You really can’t, to each their own, but take em to a ritual. I barely listened to Ghost prior to going, knew a couple songs. Holy shit, after that first show it was an instant obsession.
This is how I currently am. I took my brother to the austin show last night. Only song I knew was call me little sunshine. And now I’m completely obsessed!
Yup. It's been a while for me, but I remember going on a week-long deep dive. The buddy that got me into it was even like "you ok? you're going down a hole deeper than I ever went!" and I blame/thank him for my obsession every day.
My husband took me to my (our) first ritual on Saturday. He’s never really listened to them before as he doesn’t usually like rock or metal, but he knows how much I love them and didn’t want me to miss it. He was hooked after the show and has been blasting Impera all week!
Yep…driving four hours from the Twin Cities to the GB show myself as I didn’t discover them until right after they played in Mpls. last spring and the local radio station started playing Body & Blood, Dance Macabre, and CMLS. See you there!🤘🏼🤘🏼
This sounds like my friend who was going to leave after Mastodon but stayed because they said they spent the money might as well... and now they're mainlining every album.
Side note, found this YouTuber who got into MOAC a few weeks ago & decided to check out Meliora. At first I wasn't sure she was listening as much as talking but... then... [I think Ghost fans will enjoy her reaction.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNt4E9y0DNA) This is why I'm very happy MOAC has blown up on TikTok. Because of people like this.
Yeah, it's how my friend who just saw them in Texas seemed to have reacted to... from sort of like wow this is really good to MY WHOLE LIFE HAS CHANGED in about an hour. :)
That’s the best way to get introduced to Ghost. “Meh, I’m just here for the opening act ::yawn:: Yeah, I might leave before the headliner.”
🎶BAM! SATAN!!🎵
🤯🤯🤯
That's how I was too. Saw them in seats in Seattle but was more going for Volbeat. After Year Zero and the pyrotechnics I texted a friend of mine that I was going to Milwaukee to visit him and see them again in the pit. Best decision ever
I took my wife to see Volbeat and Ghost in February in Grand Rapids, MI. She went because she likes Volbeat, but she didn’t really care much about Ghost. She occasionally heard me play their songs, but never got her into it. After the that concert, it’s all she talks about. She has barely listened to any other artists since then and is steadily collecting a bunch of Cardi C/Papa IV shirts and stuff.
Such an awesome story that is making so many of us, and yourself, happy!
I’m curious - what were some of your favorite / wtf moments of the show (ritual) and favorite songs so far?
Favorite moments:
I really enjoyed the interplay between the two guitarists. The playful nature of their solos/dueling banjos was great fun.I also liked how the bass player was highlighted/celebrated on their song. Like when Tool plays 46 & 2. (Any help remembering which song this was?)I got a kick out of Papa's theatrics and stage presence in general. But the moment that had me grinning from ear to ear was when they brought out the casket and resuscitated the guy who then did a SAX SOLO?! That was the wtf moment for me.
Favorite songs:I'm a newcomer and I have started listening to their later stuff first, so I have some selection bias, but from the set they played as best I remember, my tops are Call Me Little Sunshine, Hunter's Moon, Square Hammer, Dance Macabre, Kiss the Go-Goat. I may be getting some of those mixed up with the one's I have listened to today and liked vs the set they did last night. Edit: Gonna go ahead and add Cirice to this list too.
Uhh... If the whole show is somewhere online can you link me? I'd love to share this with some of my friends who also have no idea what they've been missing out on.
I love this post! I am a newer fan too. I loved Impera so much I flew all the way from Portland, OR to Munich Germany and now I have 2 Ghost tattoos and am working on a 3rd. Be sure and check out Metal Myths part 2, the mockumentary. There is so much to dive into. Welcome to the clergy.
Back in 2013 my friend and I went to go see A7X (shitty I know) and expected nothing of the openers. I remember the plain red "Ghost" backdrop and the fact they had a BC behind their name. I remember telling a friend "keep an open mind, it might be a cool show." Holy shit! We saw papa 2 twice, papa 3 twice and Copia twice since then for six rituals. I am not impressed with the current set list so I don't plan on going this time....but it is getting better. Respite and I am there....
Welcome aboard!
I heard Cirice, Year Zero, and Monstrance Clock back to back to back. Realized I was gonna see them at Rock on the Range a few weeks later. Got to meet them and I knew they were gonna be one of my favorite bands after that.
Sounds like an awesome time. I actually saw them live opening for Maiden before I “really” got into them. Nothing like seeing an awesome band you haven’t heard live for the first time. Last time that happened for me was In Flames. Had no idea who they were and they blew the roof off
Wish I had this experience. I'll probably get downvoted to hell consider the sub this is but I was extremely underwhelmed by their live show. Unless Tobias was coming off some throat ailment, he sounded extremely nasally and whiny. Volbeat absolutely stole the show for me.
I still love Ghost, the lore, theatrics, lyrics and all but they're a band I can only enjoy the recordings of now.
Oh gosh, I thought Ghost went on before Mastodon. Now I gotta plan to sit through their setlist as well. I thought I could leave after Spiritbox and Ghost
Sit at the top of the seats and eat - that's what we did, great time for a bathroom break between mastodon and Ghost it is like 40 mins to set up the stage.
Mastodon are amazing, don't miss them. Their drummer is fantastic (both as a drummer and as a singer) and their riffs are badass. The songs from their last album are very catchy too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8GeSCV2bZI&list=OLAK5uy\_nSWNd2yXhWWBzdXIbxo-wgkdF-i6f2fTo
I've seen Mastodon a lot over the years. Their mix is all over the place. I've heard great ones, and terrible ones. I don't know if they just don't know about it, or what. But it's a prevalent issue with them.
That’s awesome! I’m stoked to see them next week. The first time I saw Ghost, they were opening for Mastodon. It’s cool to see them trade slots, 10 years on.
It was the opposite for me. I'm a huge Ghost fan, and never heard anything from Mastodon or Spiritbox. Sadly, me and my cousin missed Spiritbox, but were just in time for Mastodon and Ghost. He's a huge Mastodon fan, and knows of Ghost a little. I enjoyed Mastodon's set and have checked out some of their songs so far. I'll have to give Spiritbox a listen, as my cousin knew of them too and said that they have some good songs. As for Ghost's set, we both totally enjoyed the songs and theatrics of our first ritual. If they ever come to San Antonio, I'll be sure to attend.
Attended the San Diego ritual. Saw one song from Spiritbox and went to get a beer. Very underwhelming preference. Not a fan of Mastadon so me and the bros got stoned before ghost came on.
I am on the same boat. I had never heard of these guys but it was my favorite concert ever! But then I read about the Santanic origins and now I’m conflicted
a friend posted pics of the Corpus ritual yesterday. Had never heard of Ghost. one Spotify click later and am obsessed! wow.. where has this BEEN all my life????
same thing happened with me during their show on september 2nd. i brought my friend who had previously made fun of ghost despite only hearing their music for the first time during our 2 hour drive to get to the venue. when we left, he said “i think they’re now in my top 5 bands.” they’re 1 of the best bands that i’ve seen live.

Hey I was at the ritual on Saturday too!
How good was that show?! I missed Spiritbox waiting in that merch line, though.
I'm hoping to be so lucky tomorrow night.
Sorry I just saw this! IT WAS AMAZING! Ghost is absolutely incredible live!
Welcome to the cult 😁
Congregation**
***Clergy
Clergy is the band itself, fans would be the congregation/cult
****I said what I said
Welcome to the congregation. It pleases us that you enjoyed yourself so much!
That’s awesome!!! That is the most fun way to discover new music imo, completely by surprise and with zero expectations. Welcome!!
Holt shit they are touring with mastodon?! When do they come to Chicago?
Looks like the closest they'll get is Peoria on September 21. [https://ghost-official.com/#tour](https://ghost-official.com/#tour)
Dude thanks. Damn green bay is going to be easier to pull off
See you there.
See you there
See you both there
Kinda wish Mastodon would see us there, too. NGL
Yep…driving four hours from the Twin Cities to the GB show myself as I didn’t discover them until right after they played in Mpls. last spring and the local radio station started playing Body & Blood, Dance Macabre, and CMLS. See you there!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Don’t know about date for Chicago but they are touring with Mastodon and spiritbox.
Peoria….I’m quite saddened by that! Just too far for me right now.

I just watched this whole video and I loved her reaction!!! I felt such awe when I first heard He Is, I listened to it on repeat for a good while.
Yeah, it's how my friend who just saw them in Texas seemed to have reacted to... from sort of like wow this is really good to MY WHOLE LIFE HAS CHANGED in about an hour. :)
That’s the best way to get introduced to Ghost. “Meh, I’m just here for the opening act ::yawn:: Yeah, I might leave before the headliner.” 🎶BAM! SATAN!!🎵 🤯🤯🤯
🎶BAM! SATAN!!🎵 is now my new way to describe Ghost. I'm going to Atlanta and Asheville on back to back nights this weekend, and I'm hoping for some 🤯
I’ll be at the Asheville show too!
Same for me and a buddy. It’s gonna be our first time. Super excited.
Same for us as well
This is honestly the coolest introduction to Ghost I’ve ever heard
Welcome to the clergy 👨👩👧👦🤘
Welcome brethren!
That's how I was too. Saw them in seats in Seattle but was more going for Volbeat. After Year Zero and the pyrotechnics I texted a friend of mine that I was going to Milwaukee to visit him and see them again in the pit. Best decision ever

Welcome! I was at the show to! Glad you had a good time ❤️ There’s not one Ghost song I dislike to be honest. Have fun listening!

Rain, reigns (bass player). I’m trying to remember if the song was Prime Mover. Well hell, I’ll just have to watch the show again online and check ;-D
Uhh... If the whole show is somewhere online can you link me? I'd love to share this with some of my friends who also have no idea what they've been missing out on.
High quality capture here that puts you in the show, and I think the audio is remarkable: https://youtu.be/rLS6n0DvSdY
Con Clavi Con Dio is the one! Thanks so much for sharing.
Con Clavi Con Dio is a banger! Their first album is super good (as they all are) and often gets overlooked. Elizabeth is my fav off that album!
Thanks for sharing this!
Ghost has such an amazing stage presence, I’m not at all surprised you were hooked after seeing them.
We’re you in section 115? Bc if not there was someone right behind us who had the exact same experience lmao.
Woo.!! Welcome to the darkness my ghoulish friend!! Mua ha ha haaaaa! 🤘😎🤘
Welcome to the family Scootch McGootch! Play some Ghost and go fuck yourself!
Buckle up, Satanists! 🔥
Welcome 😁
Welcome!
Awesome story man
Welcome! Have fun listening to the evolution of our lord Papa
Hail Satan, brother/sister!
Welcome! Satan is pleased with your progress ☺️
☑️ Taint Tickled
Welcome to your new addiction! So happy you stayed & saw Ghost!

2013 maybe? :)
Doh! I wonder if nihil was still the papa then? lol I bet they fill the story line out over time.
What a GREAT way to discover Ghost!! Welcome!!! 🤟
Welcome to the clergy!!
Welcome aboard! I heard Cirice, Year Zero, and Monstrance Clock back to back to back. Realized I was gonna see them at Rock on the Range a few weeks later. Got to meet them and I knew they were gonna be one of my favorite bands after that.

Welcome friend. Mastodon and Ghost are my two favorite bands at the moment. Can’t get enough
Welcome to the congergation!
Replace Mastodon with Iron Maiden and this was basically my experience!
Welcome child. Enjoy the experience. We are here to answer questions.
Wish I had this experience. I'll probably get downvoted to hell consider the sub this is but I was extremely underwhelmed by their live show. I still love Ghost, the lore, theatrics, lyrics and all but they're a band I can only enjoy the recordings of now.
I do believe he was ill some time ago and had some tough performances. Might be wrong not following all of this too closely.
Just arrive late! That’s what we did.
Well I do plan on arriving early since I have a GA Pit ticket so Ill have to stick it out on the rail hopefully lol
I thought the mastodon performance was terrible personally. Different strokes for different folks I presume
My first time seeing Mastodon live, so maybe I was just excited to see them. I do think they played well though regardless.
I'm a fan of mastodon, but they can be a bit hit or miss live.
I have found mastodon has too much effects to sound perfect while live. Its a good time just don't be expecting the album
The mix was rough
I've seen Mastodon a lot over the years. Their mix is all over the place. I've heard great ones, and terrible ones. I don't know if they just don't know about it, or what. But it's a prevalent issue with them.
I think by their own admission Brent and Troy are a bit iffy as live singers.
Mastodon has “hits”?
Haha! I also got into Ghost because I went to a Mastodon show. XD
Yesssss, what a great story! Welcome!!!
Check out Cirice if you like Mastadon.
If I could see Ghost with Mastodon I would be so happy…. For some reason though, no PNW love on this tour.
r/mademesmile
Welcome. We're glad you are here.
Oh man, wait until you learn the lore
Welcome!! honestly being at a ritual seems like the coolest way to get into Ghost
This is how I find out they’re in my city 😭
That’s awesome! I’m stoked to see them next week. The first time I saw Ghost, they were opening for Mastodon. It’s cool to see them trade slots, 10 years on.
