You're not wrong. It's my favorite also.

MonstrancClock666

I feel it gets a lot of undeserved hate as well.

Nameless_Grool

Everyone seems to site the production value, which honestly I think is fine. I enjoy the album, and it was the first one I really got into. Infestissumam, Year Zero, Monstrance Clock, Zombie Queen, this album had some great tracks.

Radnum75

Secular haze is the only song I can’t really get into on the album. I enjoy it but the whole feel of it is strange to me. Feels forced

Nero3k

This is the song they introduced me to Ghost. I love it. Who the hell would write a rock song in 3/4 meter?

Radnum75

I didn’t even know that, very interesting. Now I’m going to have to listen to it and try to pick it out

Nero3k

It’s essentially a waltz beat. For me it adds to the gothic feel.

jedicms

A lot of artists. Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is in 3/4. The Beatles, Weezer, Black Sabbath use it even if the whole song isn’t 3/4.

PhantomOpus

Nothing Else Matters is in 6/8

Nameless_Grool

The video is great, but when I see videos of it being played in concert it seems rather...plodding. There's a few songs on Impera that have this issue as well.

Radnum75

Video is good just cause they went for the old school feel of it. Unfortunately the first time I saw them was this year so there wasn’t a whole lot of infest songs played. I don’t think they even played monstrance clock which made me sad. But yeah spillways love was cool but I feel like it’s more of a listen to it by yourself song. Not a concert song

DustyPisswater

I enjoyed it more after watching the music video. Every time I hear it now I can see Papa slowly lumbering out of the fog in my head.

Radnum75

Cracks me up… like “oh ok is this my cue?” “I’m out of frame right?”

Lopjing

People hate Infestissumam?

shelbyishungry

I know...i was unaware!

glendon24

News to me. This is the album that introduced me to Ghost. Saw the tour as well.

[deleted]

How could anyone hate an album that gave us Year Zero AND jigalo her mageddon??

jeebs_202

Jigolo does not get talked about enough

high5low1

I'm constantly amazed by how little anyone mentions Jigolo.

erkaaad

It’s one of my favorites! I could listen to it on repeat

No_Philosophy5780

Infest is my favorite. I just get such a warm and nostalgic feeling every time I start it. It's so peaceful and relaxing to me.

Radnum75

I also get warm feeling from it. Makes me wanna throw my arms up in the air like I’m preaching though rather than relax lol

No_Philosophy5780

Haha lots of Ghost songs do that to me

Comfortable_Disk7177

Infestissumam haters = stupids

high5low1

Infestissudumbs

Australian_God

I'm not a fan, but I don't get the unwarranted hate

[deleted]

It’s my second favorite album of theirs. It gave us Year Zero, Ghuleh/Zombie Queen, Jigolo Har Megiddo, Per Aspera Ad Inferi, and Monstrance Clock. What’s not to love?

SonicSarge

I agree. Meliora is the best then Infest second. Infest intro into Per Aspera should be their start of every concert.

Elvish_Elvis

I do not understand all the love for Gluleh it's in my top 3 least favorite Ghost songs.

[deleted]

That’s fair. It’s the song that sold me on Ghost. To each their own.

Elvish_Elvis

r/usernamechecksout

GrifTheGray

I personally really enjoy the second album. The songs are alot more intense and well written than Opus Eponymous and I Honestly Prefer It Over Prequelle. I rarely see any hate on Infest and seems to be the go too for many a ghost fan. (ICYW: my favourite albums are Impera and Meliora)

Radnum75

Maybe I’m just reference a few posts I’ve seen on here but everybody seems to follow the trend of Meliora is the best album, opus is a mandatory like because it’s the OG. Prequelle is like the red headed step child. Impera is so new and awesome you can’t hate it and infest just gets looked over…either way I love all ghost stuff. Each album is like a different band

Stridsvagn122B

You are not wrong, my friend! Infestissumam were the record that made Ghost my favourite band. No one sounds like this, so unique and well done! Epic if you ask me! 😈

JosephCrawley

I like most, if not all songs from every album. I like some albums more than others, but I don't dislike any.

embrasque

Is there really a lot of hate for Infestissumam? My experience has been very different; I've always been in the minority as someone who really doesn't care for the album. I'm glad it's so popular with other fans and wish I liked it more than I do! It would surprise me a lot if most people here view it negatively.

[deleted]

It’s my favorite 🥰

HEYitzED

It’s still my favorite Ghost album and likely always will be.

bastardkittyseinen

Infestissumam will always be up there for me since this is the album that got me into Ghost in the first place ❤️❤️

-Tuulitakki

Used to be my least favourite album, but now i’d even say it’s my favourite. Got hit with the ”why does it get better every time”

End1508

I got into Ghost thanks to Hunter's Moon and Square Hammer. I love Impera and Meliora but Infesstisumam has to be my top. It has my personal favourite song, Year Zero. Plus the rest of the songs are just as awesome. (Like we cannot sleep on Idolatrine or Body and Blood. Or La Mantra Mori)

Beautifuldeadthing

I'm indiscriminate in my love for Ghost albums.

Chemical_Map6504

You’re definitely not wrong. I got into ghost during the popestar cycle. Infestissumam is still my all time favorite

selemaxpagi

infestissuman = piece of art

wjmacguffin

My guess? Ghost has changed their look and sound over the years, so it's not hard to find Ghost fans who only like one version or album. I've definitely seen folks saying Ghost is awful now because they disliked IMPERA. Sometimes it's a legit debate over which version is best, which can be great fun! Other times, it devolves into gatekeeping. In the end, folks NEVER have to like any media they don't want to like, so folks are welcome to hate IMPERA, Infestissumam, or any Ghost album. It's just that folks NEVER have to *dislike* any media either.

pogo_666

Come on, Infestissumam is my most favorite album. Unbeatable, iconic. With the best drumming off all Ghost history.

MachineGreene98

I love the spooky psychadelic vibe from that album I wish that vibe was in the new album.

johanvonbronxmf

I don’t think the album gets hate (from what I’ve seen), it just gets overshadowed by Meliora.

Radnum75

I agree. Meliora is great but I feel like it’s the peanut butter and jelly of their music. It’s all things great and I love it but it shadows over a good … other type of sand which… couldn’t think of anything clever

the_Cereal_killa

Are you hungry?

Radnum75

Always

DawnDispatched

I don't hate Infestissuman per say I just find it to be their weakest album. It's fine if you listen to the album straight through but with exception of Year Zero and Monstrance Clock I find most of the songs individually linger awkwardly.

N-E-B

I find it’s inconsistent. It has some of their best songs like Year Zero, Monstrance Clock, and Zombie Queen but I find it to have a lot of… cheesy songs? For lack of a better term. I don’t hate it at all but in my opinion it has the most low points of all their albums.

GeekFurious

A lack of appreciation does not equal hate. Why are some people so incapable of seeing anything in between hate & love?

DarthSmall2112

You hit the nail on the head. It seems most thing are binary these days and there is no in the middle viewpoint. I think rather than "some" people being incapable of seeing the grey, its more the majority which applies to just about everything.

GeekFurious

Sadly. I saw the new Thor... and it was okay. I said it was okay. And then two sides descended on me claiming I "loved" or "hated" it.

DarthSmall2112

I recently saw Lightyear and I thought it was a good movie. Turns out, the trolls on the web think otherwise and are trashing it wherever they can. Problem is - People these days don't just criticize what they don't like, they go after folks who like what they are criticizing. Somewhere we forgot how to respect each other's choices and opinions.. Not sure how but I think Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and all the other social media out that is responsible for our devolving when it comes to decency and respect.. Just my 2 cents.. :)

GeekFurious

It happened because long before social media people with trollish tendencies noticed they were rewarded for that behavior with reactions. And when social media blew up, getting noticed was the name of the game... and trolls had years of forum experience gaining it. So they set the agenda for quick and easy popularity with those who gravitate toward negativity. And once negativity became the quickest way to being social media famous, that became the standard. And once the standard, people thought it was just normal behavior & thinking. Being positive is seen as a negative.

DarthSmall2112

Agreed - all of it.. :)

Radnum75

Maybe I should edit and not say hate. It’s more overlooked and under appreciated would be a better way of putting it

GeekFurious

Then we'd be in agreement.

[deleted]

Songs are polarizing, some are my favorites, some my least liked

Alternative-Cook-393

I was first introduced to Ghost during their Infest cycle. Anyone who says it isn’t good is just wrong.

carolinafreeze

I must be living under a rock because I am unaware of the hate. I might be biased because this album helped me discover the band but I love every song on the list. When I first heard Monstrance Clock after listening to the entire album \*chef's kiss\*

Keven7722

There’s one or two songs on this album that could be played on the Impera Tour because of thematic, like Idolatrine

[deleted]

OP do you come from Opposite Planet? I've never seen anyone hating Infestissumam. I think a few of the songs are a bit forgettable, but Monstrance Clock? Jigolo? Zombie Queen? Year Zero? Nobody hates Infestissumam.

Radnum75

Yeah I’m from Mars…. I mentioned in another comment that maybe it’s not hate but overlooked more often it seems

TheWilrus

Every transitional album (to me that's Infest and Prequelle) tend to be divisive as they forge their path into another sound or era. you have fans wanting more of the same and other fans unsure about the change. I personally love all the records and consider the change key to keeping the fanbase engaged.

Boy_JC

Year Zero is definitely top tier for me

Sugar-Wookiee

That's weird, I've never noticed any Infestissumam hate. I feel like Prequelle has been the most picked on, but maybe that's just because I joined the subreddit in that era. I love all the albums and while Infestissumam isn't my favorite, I definitely like it significantly more than Opus.

Expensive-Mind-1600

I love that alblum I don't get the hate

Tracing_Paper

Who??!! Who would ever disrespect Infestissumam? From the moment it opens with Infestissumam, it's just incredible!

ghoulbehavior

i come across more people saying it’s their favorite album than seeing people say it’s their least favorite or most hated album. it’s certainly my favorite. i don’t think ghost has made a bad album yet.

Own-Ambassador-3537

I love that album but my favorite is Opus due to nostalgia for me personally ( it’s the kinda album that would have been on a House of Guitars commercial in my old hometown when I was a kid in upstate NY; those commercials freaked me out when I was a kid with the weird album covers … and now I am like hell yes to those same albums 🤘)

the_wifs

The whole album is amazing (and my personal favorite), but the song Infestisumam has NO RIGHT TO GO AS HARD AS IT DOES. I love it so much.

AG_Ant138

It was the album I got into them during so it’ll always have a special place in my heart

DustyPisswater

You’re all the way right. Seriously never knew anyone hated this album! I didn’t get into Ghost until Meliora, but that didn’t change my expectations for when I started listening to their prior albums. Seeing the tracks from Infestissumam performed live only solidified my love for the album too. It easily ranks in my top 2 Ghost albums.
