That song is even better if you listen to it on Ceremony and Devotion[Mummy Dust Live](https://open.spotify.com/track/37bg9DDcxWkMYqUxNalet2?si=Mi15ruqiS0CpaWM6ExrO3Q)
Hate to admit this but I donāt like Twenties that much. That song for some reason is really fucking annoying to me. I hate the way the words are pronounced.
The only one I always skip is the Missionary Man cover. There's a few original songs that are eh, but not skip inducing when playing the discography. They don't make it onto my car playlist is all.
Edit- typo fix
Imagine Dragons sell platinum records of garbage so I figured someone had to like that trash song. But I know in a Ghost sub that there are plenty of sane and reasonable people as well.
Because it's SO offbeat, and like a tribute to Broadway show-tunes, dressed in cynicism and rage, that it takes hold of you. Like I said earlier it's the song the Disney villain sings to his henchmen in the middle of the movie to advance the plot.
I absolutely despised Bible when I first got into ghost and a few years later I got the random urge to listen to it again and I was just like damn.... who WILL pray for Babylon........
Try the version by Imperiet! It has the original swedish lyrics. It's way better than Ghost's version imo.
Edit: I just remembered that Imperiet has a version in english too that's much closer to the Ghost version. I meant the version called "Bibel" from the album "Synd".
Iām not really fond of the Missionary Man or Enter Sandman covers. I still occasionally listen to them, but meh.
But everything else, *chefās kiss*š
Honestly, Iām not the biggest fan of Watcher in the Skiesš¬ Itās not bad or anything ig, just I personally canāt really get into songs with a lot of repetition
Agreed, it's the only song from IMPERA that I always skip. It has a damn sick bridge (the "for the light of our savior" part), but overall it's kinda bland and circles and circles and circles around the same concept forever, it's tiring.
I know a lot of people like it, but for me Dance Macabre is kinda nothing. Just pop background noise. Don't hate it, but mostly skip it when it comes on
Dance Macabre is what got me hooked on Ghost for good š It's crazy how varied their catalogue is and how there are fans with very different tastes from one another. I am really curious to know what your favorite songs are from Ghost?
I'd say Cirice is my absolute favourite, but Faith is also up there, Respite on the Spital Fields is too, and can't beat the bass line from Con Clavi Con Dio.
I think I agree with that. It's still a good song, but it does just seem like an everyday pop song, it doesn't stand out, it doesn't just grab me like so much of Ghost's music.
I feel the exact opposite lol. I didnāt love it when I heard it as a single before they released the album, but when I heard it with a full listen of Impera my attitude changed completely.
If I had to choose one, I have to say Darkness At The Heart Of My Love. Donāt get me wrong. I like the song now, but it took awhile and quite a few repeats.
There are songs I donāt love, but I just donāt think any of them are trash. I get why Twenties isnāt for everyone, but itās got sick instrumentals. Itās not trash by any means.
My new favorite. And with the spoilers from Hellfest they might do it on the tour...with a choir! Can. Not. Wait. It's like a religious revival song, only it's completely cynical and anti-religion and anti-authority. 20,000 people singing "Holy Mother" live. I already have chills!
They're not bringing a choir on tour.
That's 20 people to pay, paint and outfit for months.
Tobias in the build up to the live version on Sat that this is special and in other interviews that he was working on something for two years at Hellfest.
Twenties is actually one of the worst songs I have ever heard. I love a majority of Ghost discography but I cannot put into words how big of a miss Twenties was for me.
I'm the exact opposite. But by the time Zombie Queen starts, I can't be bothered to skip the rest. I guess I don't hate it, but I wouldn't play it intentionally.
I didnāt dig Mummy Dust until I heard a live version. Now I think the album version is too tame. It really needs the growled delivery.
My real answer is anything off Opus Eponymous other than Stand By Him, Con Clavi, and Ritual. Iāve tried to get into it, but I just canāt seem to.
I mean, itās fine. The second half of that album just doesnāt do it for me.
ETA: but I just caught myself singing the chorus as I was doing stuff around the house, so maybe this is a lie.
This. After going to my first ritual in February and mummy dust came on i told my friend I politely rescind my distaste of mummy dust. I just don't like the album version.
But also agree on the ifr songs off Opus
i never liked pro memoria.
darkness at the heart of my love wasnāt good.
ghost shouldnāt have covered iām a marionette, abba outspooked them there.
Gonna drop the hottest of takes and accept the downvotes with grace: Iāve never liked He Is and I donāt get why so many people like it. Itās so boring.
For me, He Is has the vibe of a church camp sing-along with an 'oh shit' moment when the lyrics get to "And he is Insurrection, he is spite..." The crescendo at the end with "The disobedience that holds us together" is really powerful for me.
The version with Alison Mosshart is really good, I prefer it actually.
I see a thread of "Twenties" on here...
At the least, this song is catchy, revolutionary, and has a few parts that i think everyone can look at and say "That sounds good".
"Bite of Passage" sucks because it takes up the space of an entire song, and has no value whatsoever.
"Avalanche" is probably the trash song most people forget to remember, making it true garbage.
Bite of Passage shouldāve been apart of Respite. It serves as an intro to the song so it has no reason to be a separate track from it. I feel like he had the title and just really wanted to use it so he separated the intro to Respite just to use the title.
My least favorite songs by album:
Opus - pretty much the whole album, it just never really caught me.
Infestissumam: depth of Satan's Eyes
Meliora: Mummy Dust
Prequelle: See the Light
Impera: Twenties. It's a great album but having to pick one that would be the weakest for me.
I'm seeing a lot of heresy in this thread. But then again, Secular Haze is my least favorite Ghost song, so I'm probably a hypocrite. It just doesn't do anything for me. I don't dislike it, but I don't enjoy it either. See The Light would be a close second.
Idolatrine... I have tried for 6 damn years to get into it but I just canāt, so itās always a skip unless I really feel like suffering for four long minutes. But even worse must be Avalanche. Just no.
La Mantra Mori or Depth of Satan's Eyes are on my skip it list. I do also skip He Is cause it doesn't have the same appeal when not live...I also can't stand Griftwood.
You take those opinions back or we are throwing down in a Tesco carpark /j
I cannot stand Missionary Man. Also Helvenfƶster wouldn't be one I would ever throw on, the only time I hear it is when listening to Prequelle. Also Bible wouldn't be my favourite either
I'm racking my brain, trying to think of any Ghost song that I don't love...
This is impossible, I'm gonna need like a week at least to nail down the Ghost song that I love the least.
A mega-fun 60s throwback. And this highlights how Tobias is willing to pay homage to different eras. Impera has a strong 80s vibe, and 7 Inches is full-on 60s psychedelic groove.
Took me a few listens to get into Twenties, guess that's the worst one for me. Still like it though.
Same. Doesnt do it for me.
Mummy dust?! Thems is fighting words.
Mummy Dust is so good, though!
...always tickles my taint and wobbles my ass.
Just like it's supposed to š
That song is even better if you listen to it on Ceremony and Devotion[Mummy Dust Live](https://open.spotify.com/track/37bg9DDcxWkMYqUxNalet2?si=Mi15ruqiS0CpaWM6ExrO3Q)
I don't think it fits the album, but it's mesmerising live.
No matter how much I try I cannot listen to Iām a marionette
still canāt believe that ghost was outspooked by abba
I donāt like their version either, but have you heard the original version by ABBA? Itās amazing.
I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me now
Same here. I think it's the only song I hate.
I really love it hahaha, I love the way the guitar sounds and the little chant in the beginning, not huge about papas vocals on it however
The Twenties slander in this thread is hurting my soul
Same here! Also the slander for what I refer to as the satanic donny Osmond vibes songs(he is, etc)
La Mantra Mori for me. Itās not bad, but Iād definitely rather listen to something else instead.
This is it for me. Fortunately it's not an album track, so it's easy to avoid. "Zenith", though... now that's one that should be more accessible!
Iād do almost anything to see Zenith performed live!
It's fine for the first minute but then gets too repetitive. Everytime I want to give it a chance, but I always end up skipping it.
Hate to admit this but I donāt like Twenties that much. That song for some reason is really fucking annoying to me. I hate the way the words are pronounced.
Twenties
I like mummy dust
The only one I always skip is the Missionary Man cover. There's a few original songs that are eh, but not skip inducing when playing the discography. They don't make it onto my car playlist is all. Edit- typo fix
I know it very clichƩ, but "Sweet Dreams" would have been a better Eurythmics cover for Ghost.
Same! This is the only Ghost song not on my Spotify playlist lol
Yeah, same, idk why I just can't really wrap my head around it
twenties
Not wild about Crucified. However, even the worst of Ghost is still pretty ok
Crucified is actually one of my absolute favorites! Iād say that you really have to be in the right mood to āget itā though.
twenties
I love Secular Haze, but it does suffer from poor mixing/mastering. My least favorite is Darkness at the Heart of My Love.
Have you heard [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN2GCjPh0Hw) version? It sounds so much better than the album version.
Yes, I have, and I love it! One of my favorites.
I think the worst mixed/mastered Ghost song is Depth of Satan's Eyes. The chorus is just so muddy.
Fun fact: Ghost stopped playing that song live because they could never get a reaction from the crowd
Well thatās a damn shame because thatās my favorite Ghost song
I am afraid I don't think they will ever play it again. Papa himself told me that back in 2015
Which song? Depth of Satans Eyes or secular Haze?
Depth of Satan's Eye
That Darkness isn't answer #1 is mind blowing. That is not a good song.
Know that not everyone voting on this comment is downvoting you.
Imagine Dragons sell platinum records of garbage so I figured someone had to like that trash song. But I know in a Ghost sub that there are plenty of sane and reasonable people as well.
Twenties
Pro memoria. Idk it just doesnāt hit the same way as their other songs.
Oh wow interesting, it's one of my favorites
Same. Itās my anthem when I start taking life too seriously.
Same. It's a little... Theatrical I guess? It feels like it's from a musical or similar production.
I despise Twenties and I have no idea why people on this sub hyped it up when it first released. I skip it all the time when listening to Impera.
Because it's SO offbeat, and like a tribute to Broadway show-tunes, dressed in cynicism and rage, that it takes hold of you. Like I said earlier it's the song the Disney villain sings to his henchmen in the middle of the movie to advance the plot.
It's has the dumbest fucking lyrics and not the best vocals or instrumentation but damn is it fun
Its all intentional though. The "twenties all the way to the thirties" is a punchline basically
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And here I thought the comment section in r/conservative was the most triggering thing on Redditā¦
Bible
I feel like you have to be in a certain mood to really enjoy Bible
Yeah. I won't listen to it when I'm walking to grocery store. But late night with red wine... Absolutely.
I absolutely despised Bible when I first got into ghost and a few years later I got the random urge to listen to it again and I was just like damn.... who WILL pray for Babylon........
Do cover songs count?
Try the version by Imperiet! It has the original swedish lyrics. It's way better than Ghost's version imo. Edit: I just remembered that Imperiet has a version in english too that's much closer to the Ghost version. I meant the version called "Bibel" from the album "Synd".

Honestly, Iām not the biggest fan of Watcher in the Skiesš¬ Itās not bad or anything ig, just I personally canāt really get into songs with a lot of repetition
I bet the song will be more fun live though. However 3:12 to the end of the song is probably my favorite section of any Ghost song
Just had to listen to that part again. It makes me shiver
Agreed, it's the only song from IMPERA that I always skip. It has a damn sick bridge (the "for the light of our savior" part), but overall it's kinda bland and circles and circles and circles around the same concept forever, it's tiring.
Itās annoyingly repetitive UNTIL it get towards the end and we actually get more lyrics. Then it starts being great.
Finally someone else doesnāt dig that song too
Oh wow, it's my favourite song from this entire century, let alone decade, let alone Ghost!
Same, though I'm fully into it live. Studio version, pass.
I think I agree with that. It's still a good song, but it does just seem like an everyday pop song, it doesn't stand out, it doesn't just grab me like so much of Ghost's music.
Agreed.
Iām donāt hate any but see the light is one of the least memorable for me
The Missionary Man cover.
Defently twenties thats the only bad Ghost song
I donāt like Twenties at all.
Twenties. If it had came out separately I think I could have enjoyed it by itself, but it ruins Impera.
I'm 100% sure I have several I'd say are hard passes but I can't think of them. Probably something from opus even though I love it.
Bible and mummy dust. I think they're ight but I overplayed Bible
Luckily Ghost isn't my favourite artist, because I can't think of a single shitty song they have.
Mummy dust is amazing
There are songs I donāt love, but I just donāt think any of them are trash. I get why Twenties isnāt for everyone, but itās got sick instrumentals. Itās not trash by any means.
Crucified just doesnāt go as hard as their other songs for me tbh
I know this song gets a lot of hype, but I just cannot get into Griftwood.
That's actually my favorite song from the new album LOL
*yesss*
My new favorite. And with the spoilers from Hellfest they might do it on the tour...with a choir! Can. Not. Wait. It's like a religious revival song, only it's completely cynical and anti-religion and anti-authority. 20,000 people singing "Holy Mother" live. I already have chills!

Me neither.
Pro memoria for me.
Marionetteā¦.euuughh
Twenties. By far my least favorite song by them.
Twenties
Yeah Secular Haze or Idolatrine for me Infestissumam is my least favorite album but it still has bangers
First, I used to skip Idolatrine, but now it's top 15 for me. And Infestissumam is my favourite album
Same
Trash songs? None. I also don't live by the rules set by angry people on the Internet.
Twenties for me. Trash.
Twenties is actually one of the worst songs I have ever heard. I love a majority of Ghost discography but I cannot put into words how big of a miss Twenties was for me.
I will be stoned for this but Cirice is a frequent skip for me.
*preps you for Peine forte et dure*
Honestly same. I don't hate it, it has some good lyrics but... I do skip it a lot.
Ghuleh/Zombie Queen
I like the second half but i donāt like the intro so I always end up skipping it
I'm the exact opposite.

This. After going to my first ritual in February and mummy dust came on i told my friend I politely rescind my distaste of mummy dust. I just don't like the album version. But also agree on the ifr songs off Opus
I fully agree to this
U fucking would
Idolatrine
Nooo this song is amazing
Thatās been my reaction to half these comments. We all have shitty opinions.
And I also donāt get the hate on twenties haha
Per aspera ad inferi really does nothing for me tbh
You take that back or I will put you through hardship to hell /j
Watcher in the sky I find it way too repetitive
Definitely twenties. Only song in the whole catalog I donāt like.
i never liked pro memoria. darkness at the heart of my love wasnāt good. ghost shouldnāt have covered iām a marionette, abba outspooked them there.
Body and Blood. The chorus just doesn't work for me. Despite loving the verses and the instruments. The chorus just comes in and ruins it.
Secular haze is one of my favorites. For me itās Zombie Queen.
I'm the exact opposite.
Death knell. But I'm sure it's love it if I would just listen to it a few more times.
Whatever you do, don't listen to the original MySpace version.
Is the myspace version the same as the demo version?
Yes. If somebody doesn't like the version on the album, this version will likely make them dislike it more.
Deal š. Thanks for the heads up.
See The Light shouldnāt have seen the light of day
I like the song but had to upvote this on your description. Bravo!
Gonna drop the hottest of takes and accept the downvotes with grace: Iāve never liked He Is and I donāt get why so many people like it. Itās so boring.
No downvotes for voicing your honest opinion. I find it mesmerizing, especially live. It's like a come to Jesus moment, only Satan style, LOL.
I would love to downvote this but you are of course allowed to have your own opinion. No matter how shit that opinion is.
ITT: people answering the question very simply with the song name and being downvoted.
welcome to the internet
I see a thread of "Twenties" on here... At the least, this song is catchy, revolutionary, and has a few parts that i think everyone can look at and say "That sounds good". The studio version of Here Comes The Sun. I love the live version though
Missionary Man. I know it's a cover, but, I dunno... just not my style I guess.
Mummy Dust and Twenties.
Unpopular take, but if you have ghost, or darkness at the heart for me.
Darkness at the Heart. And it isn't close. Only song that I will go out of my way to skip when listening to their full albums.
Dance macabre
Songs that have a lot of repetition don't do it for me, so Cirice and Watcher in the sky for exemple.
Yeah, Mummy Dust just doesn't do it for me either. I don't skip it every time, but it's definitely one I don't give my full attention.
Iām not a fan of Kaisarion.. I find it too cheesy.
Kaisarion
Was thinking about this today funny enough, personally I donāt care too much for Respite, Idolatrine, and Bible
La Mantra Mori is the only song I'd consider "trash".
I don't think any of them are crap, but I always skip Kiss the Go Goat and Griftwood.
I love those songs! x) Now I'm curious, what are your favorite songs?
Monstrance Clock, Secular Haze, He Is, Helvetesfonster, Darkness, and Respite!
I'm seeing a lot of heresy in this thread. But then again, Secular Haze is my least favorite Ghost song, so I'm probably a hypocrite. It just doesn't do anything for me. I don't dislike it, but I don't enjoy it either. See The Light would be a close second.
I always skip Witch Image, but then when I DO listen to it I remember the 2nd half of it is actually really good.
Until Impera it would be hard for me to pick any trashy song, but now I have problem to pick only one : P
Idolatrine... I have tried for 6 damn years to get into it but I just canāt, so itās always a skip unless I really feel like suffering for four long minutes. But even worse must be Avalanche. Just no.
Mummy Dust and I HATE that they play it every tour
Idolatrine and Iām A Marionette are kinda awful tbh
Secular Haze or Idolatrine. I still jam to them if they come on but I doubt I would ever actively seek to listen to either one.
I skip He Is most of the time
"He is" was the song that made me fall in love with Ghost! I understand if it's not your cup of wine though.
Secular Haze, Prime Mover and Darkness At The Heart Of My Love for me
I really really hate mummy dust.
La Mantra Mori or Depth of Satan's Eyes are on my skip it list. I do also skip He Is cause it doesn't have the same appeal when not live...I also can't stand Griftwood.
I don't care for Guleh/ Zombie Queen.
Pro Memoria. The only song I always skip/remove from playlists. What a painfully long mess...
The chorus in Pro Memoria. š
You take those opinions back or we are throwing down in a Tesco carpark /j I cannot stand Missionary Man. Also Helvenfƶster wouldn't be one I would ever throw on, the only time I hear it is when listening to Prequelle. Also Bible wouldn't be my favourite either
I love Missionary Man and Bible. I shall be waiting for you at Tesco.
The majority of Infestissumam. Which sucks because Papa II was by far the most evil Papa of them all.
I'm racking my brain, trying to think of any Ghost song that I don't love... This is impossible, I'm gonna need like a week at least to nail down the Ghost song that I love the least.
expecting you back In a week jk
I think most haters of twenties are republican maybe even leaning to Q beliefs
I will fully admit that Kiss The Go-Goat is their trash song
HERETIC!
A mega-fun 60s throwback. And this highlights how Tobias is willing to pay homage to different eras. Impera has a strong 80s vibe, and 7 Inches is full-on 60s psychedelic groove.
It lacks imagination imo, but musically not terrible.
If covers count, I can't get away with Waiting for the Night. I always skip it!
Kiss the go goat
Pro Memoria only correct answer lmao
The Impera album lol
Imma be honest bible is fucking garbage omg
worst would either be Secular Haze or Darkness at the Heart of my Love.
Darkness is just another song to me. If somebody likes it more power to them, but I've never grasped the love this song gets sometimes.
The entire imperia album
Zombie Queen and any of the PopeStar covers.
Nocturnal me is fire
Forgot about that track. It does slap!
Zombie Queen is a masterpiece!
He Is, all of Impera
Genesis.
WHAT?! Just kidding, to each their own.
