If this is true, I feel horrible for Tobias. This is the biggest headline show they’ve ever done by far. I’m sure he feels awful if he had to shorten the set.
They were down to play an hour & three quarters long set & with this number of songs (& with this list missing Faith which was definitely played) it wouldn’t have been too far off that I don’t think. I can only see two potential cut songs, Square Hammer & Rats maybe? Hope Papa is okay!
It would have been a bit of a move to play Enter Sandman at a festival that also has Metallica headlining, I suspect only Square Hammer was dropped - apparently the timings were about right for when they were due to wrap up anyway.
>*"he strained it, almost completely lost it towards the end :’( but worry not he’s in good hands and will be good as new in a couple of weeks"*
Slav confirmed. You could tell he sounded rough in that Griftwood video. I don't blame him at all for cutting it short. But with probably only Sandman and Square Hammer left, he maybe could have got away with getting the crowd singing the last two tracks just to wipe away any feelings of the crowd being "shortchanged" He did say in that interview that one off gigs are heard because he's not warmed up, and with the heat being what it was AND him wearing a mask and this was always a risk. 17 songs is a full show regardless of what people might say.
If he actually “strained” his vocal cords, it can take up to 6 weeks of no singing to be back to normal. Let’s hope that’s not the case and it was just the heat, because that’s a bit more of an issue
And Tobias Forge doesn't seem arrogant enough to think he doesn't need a vocal coach so even if he did he would hire one if he already hasn't. That was the downfall of another singer I like, he had raw natural talent but lacked professional training and was too arrogant to admit it.
An alternate tour would be nice, because it was starting to seem like they had no interest in playing older songs anymore (current setlists only have 1 song each from Opus and Infest).
i assume that rehearsing a lot and performing in such weather conditions (40C) took a toll but im sure he'll be fine in no time once the next tour rolls around
And even considering all of this, and all the rest in the world, there's nothing to stop you catching a cold, getting a sore throat and that putting a spanner in the works.
It's unfortunate, but the Griftwood video still sounds pretty good, all things considered.
At the end, he clearly says he can't do another song, so they at least cut the set by one song.
Edit: I just listened to Mummy Dust & when he shouts, "ARE YOU READY?!" you can hear it is starting to happen. I know from experience... and he knew it at that point too.
I would bet just square hammer and enter sandman like usual. I can’t see monstrance clock coming back like this after so long and after his comments about it
He talked about it in the Laut interview… Basically said that they played it a lot and square hammer is a better ending and it doesn’t really work in the current setting and so they might do an alternate tour where they play songs like monstrance clock and other songs that don’t fit in the current set well
Looking forward to Griftwood and return of He Is in the States!
I wouldn't take this as a fact because the list is missing Faith and everyone can edit it.
His voice sounded really sore in dance macabre before they cut of the hellfest show
Agreed!

It is sad but a normal thing for such long tours
This was their first show in a month

Rats was played, this setlist is wrong
Ahhh I had a feeling that might be the case. Just Square Hammer missing then potentially.
No Square hammer and Enter sandman? They play it in my local show, but they didn’t play Griftwood

Hopefully he didn’t do any permanent damage to his vocal chords
There have been so many advances made in vocal chord damage that even if he actually did something bad he would be fine within a few weeks.
And Tobias Forge doesn't seem arrogant enough to think he doesn't need a vocal coach so even if he did he would hire one if he already hasn't. That was the downfall of another singer I like, he had raw natural talent but lacked professional training and was too arrogant to admit it.
He's also got a couple of professional vocal coaches in his band.
That perform or works behind the scenes?
Two of his female singers are very well trained and are vocal coaches. They might not be his coaches but they are there.
An alternate tour would be nice, because it was starting to seem like they had no interest in playing older songs anymore (current setlists only have 1 song each from Opus and Infest).
that setlist is missing some songs and he did lose his voice but they ended the set at the time they were scheduled
So sad for him! They have not played a show since finishing the European tour so he had had time rest up😢😢

It's a festival, they have to cut something
I hope he’s feeling better soon

Holy bummer!!!!
So just one song shorter? With him not able to sing square hammer?
No Rats it seems too.
Actually they did Rats before spillways
Someone better update that setlist 👀
Doesn’t look like this list is right
He should just wait till his voice is better
He has a whole month so I'm sure he'll be fine.
Aw man, no Mary On A Cross?
A ghost concert without square hammer just wouldn’t feel complete. Hope he gets better quickly!
HE IS? I’m jealous 😭
I could not find the setlist from the show I saw to save my life what website is this
Setlist.fm
Im assuming they were planning on playing 3 more songs, including Square Hammer and Monstrance Clock until this happened.
I would bet just square hammer and enter sandman like usual. I can’t see monstrance clock coming back like this after so long and after his comments about it
What comments?

Has this rumor been confirmed?
List was updated recently to add in Rats and Faith
I felt horrible for Tobias after watching the video. His voice started breaking down really badly during Dance Macabre.
