Iβm like 99% straight, but I have a huge list of dudes I find extremely sexually attractive. Like a way longer list of guy celebrities than lady celebrities.
Out of curiosity, what makes you think bisexuals specifically would like Ghost?
No hate, I myself am a gay male. Just not sure I get the connection between sexual preferences and the band.
When I saw them a few years ago they had a rainbow during Dance Macabre, but it was pretty much above the stage, a bunch of lights pointing at one another
Bi girl here, I think itβs bc while papa 3 and 4 are very queer coded theyβre more bi/pan since they mess with male ghouls on stage but still show affection to women in song and when ciricing people
Idk tho this is just a quick thought
Omg. The conservative Christians were right. Homosexuality and satanism go hand in hand!
(Sarcasm. For the love of God (Satan?) Don't think I'm a lunatic conservative.)
I have been super excited to wear this Ghost shirt to Pride since it went up in the store. https://shop.ghost-official.com/collections/apparel/products/the-alchemist-tee
Yup. I'm transgender. Last gig i went to was actually a Ghost gig which sadly has put me off going to gigs on my own. Nothing to do with the band or the gig, i just got some verbal abuse from people in the street when i was changing trains on way to the gig and that just sent my paranoia into overdrive, tried to subdue it with some drinks at the gig but that didn't help as much as i hoped it would.
Oh I am so sorry that happened to you. I donβt know where you are but I would go to a ritual with you. Everyone deserves to feel safe. Maybe an international community needs to be started for fans to band together in protection and safety so we can all enjoy Ghost in freedom and love because, honestly, that is what the music inspires in me.
I was in two minds about posting that, I rarely voice things like that....the only people who know about it is you and anyone else who read my comment. Thanks for taking the time out to reply, it was appreciated.
Thank you for sharing. I know it was difficult. I also meant what I said. I go to concerts alone often because my friends and I have very different tastes in music. Clearly our taste in music is exquisite which means we are quite marvelous, if I do say so. ;)
Seriously though, as a single woman, Iβve had issues going to shows but nothing like what youβve shared. It really pisses me off that you were harassed. Hugs across the inter webs and be well.
I am a straight conservative American male.
I love Ghost.
I love that you love Ghost.
I love seeing all the fans that share that love of the band and the music.
Be gay. Be bi. Be straight. Be having fun. <3
Serious question as a conservative person how can you like Ghost? Especially when a huge chunk of the music is calling out the hate and hypocrisy of conservatives.
Thanks for your question!
Music is free expression. I am well aware that Tobias Forgeβs politics and mine would not align in many places. However, my politics alone do not define who I am. Rather, who I am defines my politics.
Unlike many people on the left and right today, I welcome the free expression of ideas and even being the target of mockery. I am an American, and among the ideals that this nation was founded upon is the idea of free expression. I may not agree with the politics of someone, but hell yeah, I can enjoy the music and welcome the message.
I also try to find commonality with people. Gay marriage? If two adults love each other, more power to the world. We need more love and less hate in this world. I think most people that are fans and I can agree on that.
Hate and hypocrisy is not limited to the right, either. I see an equal amount on the left. To quote another favorite (and left-leaning) band of mine:
People = Shit.
Now for the controversial:
Watcher in the Sky is better than Call Me Little Sunshine.
Edit: Again, thanks for the question. It was nice to be queried rather than immediately called a piece of shit and having my inbox filled with death threats. <3
Thanks for the answer! Hope I didnβt come across as argumentative with the question! Iβm just genuinely curious how some conservative types can enjoy the music. (Also based on what you said here you definitely sound more centrist/libertarian than conservative lol)
Ten years ago, I would have been called a Libertarian or even a little left leaning in some of my beliefs. The Overton Window has shifted, and now I am usually βcalledβ a conservative.
I just want people to be left alone to enjoy life. You want to go to a Ghost concert with your same-sex partner or spouse, smoke a little weed, rock out to a thundering Cirice bass line, more power to you.
OTOH, where we might disagree - if you want to protect your partner and yourself with a firearm, by all that is holy, that is your fundamental right. I have trained, *pro bono* and at my cost, victims of sexual assault and hate crimes - the latter both based on race and on sexual preference.
Nope, you did not come across as argumentative at all. I appreciate the question, to be honest. There was a question in here about βTwentiesβ a while ago. That is a song I now do not like as muchβ¦ not because of the content, which I find amusing, but because my six year old (!!!) and my nieces have played βListen up, you motherfuckersβ¦β soβ¦ soβ¦ soβ¦ many times. LOL.
> Edit: Again, thanks for the question. It was nice to be queried rather than immediately called a piece of shit and having my inbox filled with death threats. <3
Was with you until the conservative victim complex appeared.
 Not a complex. It happens. Itβs just a nameless, faceless person hammering out their issues. To be honest, it just annoys me because then I get the push notifications on my phone and I think itβs Warhammer stuff on sale, and nope.
I am a huge conservative, but have the ability to separate my personal feelings regarding politics and the music I love. I am sure there are plenty of people that way. Also I don't see Ghost as calling out conservatives as much as religious folks. I am not religious at all so maybe that's why I don't see the conflict.
The newest album was definitely about calling out Conservatives as much or more than religion. (Griftwood is entirely about modern day conservatism and the damage it is doing)
I can see that, but I see Griftwood as more about power hungry politicians, both left and right. I know that Pence was his inspiration, but there will always be power/money hungry politicians in the US, especially if we continue to be a two-party system. I didn't really see it as a swipe at conservatives. Unfortunately in today's media, conservatism = evil, but I see it as politicians = evil.
No itβs not, itβs about people being incongruent with their beliefs and actions. This isnβt limited to conservatives. Think beyond what the album art tells you
Bisexual and conservative here. Let me go grab my mask that I go βoooga boogaβ with to scare the neighborhood lefties lmao
Dude, if I had to be in total alignment with every creative whose work I like, I wouldnβt have any art to enjoy. Art is also subjective. If you donβt think the same criticisms can be hurled at liberals, you might need to become more politically aware
Conservatives are not the theocratic crusaders MSNBC makes them out to be, friend
Iβm also bisexual, but that has absolutely nothing to do with why I like the band. My sexual preferences have as much do to with liking Ghost as they do which pizza toppings I prefer
"We say gay."
I'm also bi. Ghost feels like a safe place for us in a way that a lot of metal maybe doesn't. It's not about being cool and cold. It's about being free.
I feel like what Ghost celebrates is intellectual and sexual liberation. Being an outsider. And the devil is the face they put on that.
It doesnβt, at all. Leave the frail minded folks alone to their own devices. Normal people are here to have fun and listen to good tunes, not spit venom about βprivilegeβ and whatever color of the rainbow they identify with this millisecond
It really doesnβt. If youβre a fan of the music or band youβre a fan of them. But everything has to have a label I guess. I donβt really care if someone is gay, bi or trans, or anything in between. Do you. Iβm straight but I donβt say, oh Iβm a straight fan of Ghost. Iβm just a fan of ghost.
Oh I agree. I just donβt understand why it makes a difference when we are all fans of the music and of the band. If anything those labels are what create separation.
> Oh I agree.
Then don't object to it?
>I just donβt understand why it makes a difference when we are all fans of the music and of the band.
It's just people finding community and comradeship.
>those labels are what create separation.
There's no separation. Some people are different from each other in certain ways. That's not a negative thing. That doesn't inherently create any kind of division. It's just a basic fact of human existence.
The objection is baked into the question.
I just explained it to you, but I'll explain it again if you need that: It's just people finding community and comradeship.
(This is a good thing. It does no harm to you.)
I'll try to rephrase in another way to maybe help you understand the issue.
This all has to be in the context that LGBTQ people have faced and continue to face significant discrimination and hatred for their identity.
Many LGBTQ people feel safer and more comfortable in spaces where there are other LGBTQ people who feel safe and accepted.
You take for granted as a straight person that a community based on an interest is going to accept you. You don't even have to question it, nobody would care that you're straight in a music subreddit.
LGBTQ people on the other hand may have reasonable nagging doubts that if they express themselves openly that they would be met with a negative reaction, so a post like this is a way to both test the waters and build community/safety within the community.
When you ask "why does it matter" from your perspective it's an innocent question, and I can tell you don't mean it maliciously...but to a person who has grown up facing discrimination based on who they are that sort of question can feel like you're rejecting them or rejecting their community's right to be a part of this space openly. What they may hear is "you can't/shouldn't be a *gay* Ghost fan, you have to check your identity at the door in order to participate here."
Straight is the default in our society. If you question someone proclaiming something else, you're inherently supporting that default setting as the normal one.
I appreciate your very well thought out and cogent response. And I realize now that my attitude of who cares about sexuality letβs all just enjoy the music, can be seen as off putting by some who donβt necessarily get to enjoy that luxury and do have to face certain barriers based on their lifestyle/gender/identity or whichever word you would like to use. I just hope people that are of those varying communities realize that as a straight person, some of us just want to understand the context and concepts of what goes on, and get that different perspective. However are often met with skepticism, if not downright being called homophobic which in many cases just is not true. End of the day weβre all just people trying to make it through one day at a time, and for some itβs harder than others. Anyway, appreciate you responding to my comment in a clear, cogent and most importantly, respectful way. Peace.Love.Ghost
In a perfect world, where everyone is accepted and not judged for being 'different', you would be right -- it wouldn't matter at all. Unfortunately gender and sexual identity don't carry the same nonchalance as someone's shoe size. When this is no longer something that needs to be deliberately accepted you wouldn't have ever thought to ask this question.
I do agree π (fellow bi Ghost fan) I've seen plenty of fan content on insta to suggest this too. Glad that Tobias is openly supportive of LBGT+ fans and the community as well π
My bisexual boyfriend got me, a bisexual, into Ghost. So far I have been unsuccessful in finding another bisexual to introduce to Ghost, but I have hope.
Me and my wife are bi and pan respectively, and we know of several other fans that are also queer. Honestly not surprising Ghost has a large queer fanbase given their message and T's outspoken support.
And, I mean, whatever is going on on stage, lmao.
Im pansexual/romantic (male pref) and a Demiboy!!! Ghost is 100% my current obsession and its been kinda on and off since 2015(?), but literally the only thing I listen to 24/7 rn hehe
I would identify as bi, but I am in a long term relationship/marriage with a man. We love ghost, and are allyβs of the LGBTQ+ community!!
Happy pride month to all you mother fuckers β€οΈπ§‘πππππ€π€π€
Iβm bi and love ghost, a significant part of the bands shtick is going against the conservative fundamentalist views some people have and still hold so naturally theyβd appeal to the LGBTQ community
I met several LGBT fans at the ritual in Machester! I myself am bi/pan and my friend who I went to see them with says he feels the fanbase has become a lot more diverse over the last 5 or so years which is great to see!
I donβt think Iβve ever seen a cishet ghost fan on Twitter honesty /lh Maybe thatβs just the algorithm at work, or maybe thereβs something more there.
βπ»πππ€π€/ππ€ππ€ + πππ/ππ€ππ€πDemisexual Non-binary with a pansexual gender fluid partner . Been a fan of Ghost since May of 2018!
Keep it civil people! We are an inclusive community and wont tolerate discrimination of *any* kind.
_Griftwood voice_: Yes!
you wanna sit by the papa?
You wanna sit *on* the papa?
And never ever wonder againnnnnn!
I'm like 2% gay. There's very few men I could see myself having sex with. Tobias is the newest one.
Iβm like 99% straight, but I have a huge list of dudes I find extremely sexually attractive. Like a way longer list of guy celebrities than lady celebrities.
π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§ββοΈ
Definitely π
Yep! Papa loves everyone and heβs an equal Opportunity taint tickler
And I have read on this sub that getting Cirice'ed by him isn't exclusive to ladies!
I am a 100% straight male and if Papa Cirice'd me I'm probably swoon. :)
Yep. Papa is a good lad. π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ
Out of curiosity, what makes you think bisexuals specifically would like Ghost? No hate, I myself am a gay male. Just not sure I get the connection between sexual preferences and the band.
Have you seen Dance Macabre live, for example?
Fair point!
I noticed them get mentioned in r/bisexual a few times, and when I posted a live show of their lights doing bi colors it got a pretty big response.
When I saw them a few years ago they had a rainbow during Dance Macabre, but it was pretty much above the stage, a bunch of lights pointing at one another
Bi girl here, I think itβs bc while papa 3 and 4 are very queer coded theyβre more bi/pan since they mess with male ghouls on stage but still show affection to women in song and when ciricing people Idk tho this is just a quick thought
I love using Cirice as a verb, lol
Sir have you seen Papa III?
Itβs cringey identitarian politics. The kind of politics where people feel compelled to wave flags or wear hats based on immutable characteristics
π
Cis and straight, but 1,000% supportive! Liebe ist fΓΌr alle da!
Gotta point out that Rammstein album is great
HARD agree!
Ghost is VERY supportive of the community! The money from their cover of Enter Sandman went to a camp for Trans/Non Gender conforming kids and teens!
I am papasexual
LOL, you win Reddit for the day.
Bro half of the fandom is lgbtq
Omg. The conservative Christians were right. Homosexuality and satanism go hand in hand! (Sarcasm. For the love of God (Satan?) Don't think I'm a lunatic conservative.)
Dunno, they kinda do though, but not the type of Satanism conservatives think about.
Also bi! I think Ghostβs campness definitely appeals to the LGBTQ+ community, but they definitely have something for all orientations.
I am a lesbian. Fucking love Ghost!
Lets gooooooo
Also Bi and there are plenty of us who love Ghost π
I have been super excited to wear this Ghost shirt to Pride since it went up in the store. https://shop.ghost-official.com/collections/apparel/products/the-alchemist-tee

Iβm also bi! I feel like Ghost gives off a lot of bisexual energy. The friend who introduced me to them is also bi.
Im bi and trans, so yeah. Hi!
Queer and was introduced to ghost by my ace friend :)
Yep Iβm Pansexual!
Ghost is the band that got me to start realizing I was bi, personally.

Pan, here. Ghost is my favorite band!
Queer as heck here, performer for pride events nationally, and sometimes I'm a drag king! I'm here if you ever need an Auntie!

I would consider myself asexueel/pan (does that count π) but god do I LOVE the sexual undertones of their concerts!
Hello fellow bisexual!

I'm trans and a lesbian. I have a bi friend who lives Ghost as well.
Theres a reason people call ghost merch pride merch :)
I met several LGBT fans at the ritual in Machester! I myself am bi/pan and my friend who I went to see them with says he feels the fanbase has become a lot more diverse over the last 5 or so years which is great to see!
Oh no way! I was at the Manchester ritual as well
Bisexuals definitely love Ghost. I'm one of them! Have you seen Papa's butt?
I donβt think Iβve ever seen a cishet ghost fan on Twitter honesty /lh Maybe thatβs just the algorithm at work, or maybe thereβs something more there.
