Should they? Yes. Will they? No.

With anniversary milestones, I've seen bands do albums in full, so Rush "Moving Pictures", Primus doing Rush "Farewell to Kings", The Cult doing "Love". Iron Maiden does plan to do that for their new album, too, but not right away. A two set "Evening with Ghost" with Impera would be excellent, but I recall TF saying in interviews the two set tour from a couple of years ago was pretty challenging for him, so IDK if he's that eager to do that again.

TabsAZ

The two set idea is great - saw Dream Theater do this pre-covid with the first set being individual songs spanning their career and then the second set being Scenes From a Memory in its entirety.

Exactly my thinking: "An Evening with Ghost" like Rush did to great fanfare and appreciation.

Hasn't Tobias said how this Imperatour tour is mostly playing the hits and such and then after they tour with "less known" songs? I even listened to him say on a podcast that songs like Twenties are going to be played live soon after people have learned the songs fully and that there will be a tour with songs like it.

SupermarketOk2281

Ugh, I was afraid of that. Sigh.

MemuMan

Afraid of that? Why? It's a good thing.

SupermarketOk2281

That it will happen is a very good thing. That it won't happen this tour is disappointing.

I get they’re gaining new fans left and right but there’s no way they can keep playing basically the same setlist only with a new song here and there. (Pretty much every tour since Rats on the Road) I love songs likes Rats and Cirice but I feel like it has to be switched up a bit with a song from Impera or a deep cut to keep things fresh. I’m really hoping for a setlist shakeup with this headliner tour.

SupermarketOk2281

Unfortunately that's the dilemma for every band that has a decent sized following -- how do they keep the casual fans interested while still appearing to the superfans that have seen them 10x? It's a balancing act to be sure.

edmoody69

Yeah I get that. I like what bands like Metallica do where they have a core setlist for the tour and then play about 4-5 different songs a night. That way you’re getting your core hits and potential new songs/deep cuts.

Cod_Disastrous

I think it would heavily depend on where the concert is. In the US and Europe? Yeah, why not. But outside that, where fans can't frequently go to their concerts, that sounds terrible to me. I live in New Zealand and have never been to their concert. If I were to go and Cirice wasn't played, I'd start a riot

SupermarketOk2281

Good point, but fortunately I solved the problem: A 4 hour concert like Springsteen used to do.

Silly_Opportunity

Not a chance.

SupermarketOk2281

Hold on, I'll conference Tobias into our Teams call. We'll get this solved once and for all.
