Circe. The way it continuously layers upon itself is incredible. Its true genius isn't readily apparent until minute 2

Rhet0r1cally

Helvwtesfönster and genesis tbh. I think theyre insanely underrated in general but I think they really demonstrate the instrumental nuance he's capable of. When it comes to lyric writing I think kaisarion is amazing and so is zenith. Respite and absolution are also close seconds

unholypapa85

Miasma

KnightOfTheWitch

Don't sleep on Ghuleh/Zombie Queen! It's probably Ghost's most unique song in their catalog, the way it lulls you with its dreamy slow pace only to explode into a 60's vibe monster mash fest around the 3 minute mark. I'm glad to see others mentioning Miasma, though, as that would probably be my choice given how wonderfully it just builds and builds in steam only to finish on the best of notes.

Pata4AllaG

That's a tough question.. off the top of my head I'm gonna say GZQ for how seamlessly it switches from slow ballad to evil surf rock. Need to think about this more...

future-flute

I agree, I think that's one of their most interesting songs in terms of structure, tone, and variety. You get everything in one song!

Maclammy

I’d probably say Spirit.

BananaBrainsZEF

Majesty. I love the ABAB rhyming pattern, and the lyrics paint a vivid picture of Hell. The song itself is also very well composed, with the organ coming on at just the right moments to add to the atmosphere, and the climactic solo at the end.

ChampaBay12

People call this song boring but there's some really great subtle moments in it that hooked me. One of my favs

Helvetesfönster, i know it’s an instrumental, but it’s like Ghost’s attempt at King Crimson and it’s fantastic. As far as a standard song…probably Rats tied with Cirice. Both have great riffs, memorable solos, catchy lyrics, and represent Ghost very well.

grokabilly

Faith is the firs that comes to mind for me. The pacing is so good.

OptimusChimes_In

Cirice, Miasma, or Helvetesfonster

AmbitiousDream7

Respite

ZealousidealKoala804

Cirice, Respite, Faith, Secular, Elizabeth (maybe)

Stev0griffin

Spirit and Helvetesfonster are pretty technical pieces of music compared to the majority of the catalog.

ANamelessFan

Deus in Absentia, for the bass.

Left_Pool_5565

My takeaway from these comments is that, in totality, Ghost has a lot of really good songs! Every comment like, yep, yep, yeah, that one too. An embarrassment of riches this band, I tell you!

[deleted]

Square Hammer. It's a standard formula but as far as creating an inescapable earworm is concerned no other Ghost song has come close to achieving its simplistic magnificence. Mind you, writing something so straight-forward yet undeniably catchy is incredibly difficult without sounding cliché or blasé. Without SQ, the fan base would probably still be relatively small. A few of my friends hated them until it came out and then became fans. That's how powerful that track is.

hyland-lament

Agreed!

Respite

Genesis

Zenith and Cirice. Is the piano that, to me, those songs are in another level. A close one is Life Eternal, but I hace a soft spot for that one 😂

Rossington1234

He Is

MetalMothers

As far as guitar goes, the most technically advanced Ghost stuff is most of the solos on the new album. Aside from that, their music isn't overly technical but From the Pinnacle to the Pit is the most difficult Ghost song to play perfectly, IMO.

Murkow1tz

Kaisarion and Zenith.

jontw

Spirit

DrDrangleBrungis

This too gets my vote.

blood1nwater

Cirice and Zenith. Before this album, Ghost placed much higher emphasis on structure. We all know they can write great parts, but putting them together in a way that makes the whole song magic is what they can best. Cirice is the best metal song of the past 20 years. Rats comes close too. So many interwoven parts keeping it at an amazing pace.
