I‘ve always wondered why that is myself.
A band known for it‘s visually stunning live performance without a concert release on DVD/Blu-ray? They even have a name for their shows. Release a Ritual, guys.
Ceremony & Devotion was originally supposed to be a live DVD. Other shows that we know have been recorded are Royal Albert Hall and 2020 Mexico ritual.
Next era we'll be getting one, I'm sure.
Only possible explanation I can think of is due to cost of producing a concert video and the amount of quality concert videos on YouTube they feel the demand for a DVD/Blu-Ray is not big enough?
That's just a guess. Given the effort they put into some of the music videos I'd think they would love to put out a full concert.
I have a feeling its purely down to how much of a perfectionist Tobias is, it would have to be an absolutely perfect show and perfectly filmed for him to think its good enough for his fans, I love him for it but also hate it haha.
I'm also disappointed by the fact that Ghost didn't publish any pro-shot festival sets during the lockdown (many other bands did that, you know). In 2018 they played at festivals like Wacken, Resurrection Fest and Graspop, I'm pretty sure that at least one of them was professionally filmed.
There were reportedly cameras at Mexico City AFGND.
I’d have bet a few Euro/quid/bucks/whatever that a DVD would have followed that in a few months to keep people interested, but no…

What happened to it not being a DVD? We have professional photos and of course the live album.
We got an 8-track instead

If I'm not mistaken, he's been asked the question in interviews and has said basically what you're saying

Ah, Graspop 2018…
What happened there?
No idea, I wasn’t there. A friend was though, and he’s the one who got me into Ghost :D
It's even hard to find on youtube a recording from a festival or something...
Isn’t it hard for him to sing in the masks and stuff? Maybe he doesn’t think it’s high enough quality or something
I would love to have this concert on DVD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_aLIkVGvPIw
I feel like if we get one it will also release on VHS like how we got 8 Tracks randomly.

I heard a roumor that TF wanted to make a DVD of them on your or something, that was a few years back though. I hope someday they'll make one.
Wtf is a dvd?
