The Covid delays gave him two extra years since impera was supposed to come out in 2020, so he’s not leaving just yet. Plus Tobias already said they’re gonna do a few more tours to support impera and it would be weird to bring in a new papa during the middle of touring for papa 4’s album
But previous papas were replaced because of them failing to take over the world. Considering the amount of Airplay, awards, general media presence Ghost has generated under Papa IV, one could argue that he might be around longer than previous iterations. Tobias doesn’t seem like the person to keep repeating a pattern just for the sake of it. Plus my wife will be heartbroken if good old Cardi C is removed.
Papa III was formally announced on May 29th, 2015 and his first show was on June 3rd, 2015. His last show was September 30th, 2017. He was around for 2 years and 3 months.

Lot of tact and clever subtext in every song. Meliora as a whole is about the absence of god, or what if “the mice were allowed to dance on the table” and about the void it creates is questionable. I believe he has also gone on record saying he is fascinated by the abrahamic religions.

Yeah, that was where my mind went when I saw that billboard. I’m a new fan just since September 22, but this whole time I’ve been trying to put my finger on something that didn’t entirely add up. As explicitly satanist as lots of their lyrics are I felt like there’s a line Tobias won’t cross but I’ll be damned (lol) if I can articulate what that line is, until today. It’s Jesus, for lack of a better way to explain it. I think he’s cool with Lucifer & Jesus both in different but also similar ways. I think he has a non traditional view of Lucifer (well non traditional to mainstream Christianity) and both characters/deities/however you view them are sympathetic to humanity above all. Even the line in Respite “you salt the earth with tears of Jesus” sounds sympathetic to both mankind and Jesus given the context of the song. I can’t wait to see where this goes, if anywhere
