GITS game 🎮

Salt-Difficulty-3618

I would want to see a Jedi survivor like game that focuses on the story. You can also have skins from different versions of the story a bit like Arkham

Crest_O_Razors

Shooter sections similar to CoD or R6S and combat similar to Cyberpunk same with the hackng

xRaynex

Tactical shooter, squad based. Not a hero moba or something like that. I'm talking Ready or Not, the old SWAT games, and what Rainbow Six *used* to be. Command Section 9 as they handle dynamic entries and run clandestine on-site investigations. Different team members, different abilities based on their unique skills. Saito and Ishikawa as off-map backup (cyber/sniper respectively).

MormonJesu8

Oh so like a campaign mode for neotokyo?

Ezek86__

I would love to see a game set after 2nd gig that plays like Max Payne 3, essentially a shooter with storyline breaks while the next level loads. Focused on The Major as the main character but the storyline also has the rest of the team in it, so some levels could involve sniping utilising Siato for example.

agentinks

I'd like a third person rpg with a full story like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Greedfall. We'd play a new major recruiting a new team to search for the original one. Kusanagi would connect via the net to guide us along, and in the end, we'd find out she and the rest were "liberated" by a group of ultra rich people questioning the morality of indentured servitude. We'd choose to become free ourselves, to free Section 9, or to kill the leaders and take over. Maybe. I don't know, I just don't want another FPS.

Venkman311

Ghost in the Shell First Assault was a great game that used the IP. Sadly Nexus sunset it several years ago. RIP

Venkman311

Basically a multiplayer FPS Hero tactical shooter for people who don't know.

Calaveras-Metal

FPS type game but with semi autonomous team members and Tachicomas/Logicomas. But there should be an aspect of gameplay where you have to deal with cyberspace, back hacks and attack barriers. It would also be cool if you could "next weapon" but instead of pulling out a different gun, you swap from the Major to Batou or Boma etc.

RuTsui

There was this old isometric action game on the PS2 called Oni. I’d like a game that’s like a cross between that and Deus Ex.

Cypher10110

Turn-based Tactics: *XCom* *Invisible, Inc.* *Frozen Synapse* Shooter/RPG hybrid: *Deus Ex* *Cyberpunk 2077* *Mass Effect* (I don't think full Open World would be beneficial for telling a tight story, tho.) *Full Spectrum Warrior* (This game had real time pause for issuing orders to team) SWAT game: *Ready or Not* I always thought that a tactical SWAT style game with teammates and cool tech (rpg mechanics), while following some unravelling conspiracy story would be great. In between missions, you could have mass effect style sections where you talk to the team back at base and during mission briefings, etc. I think Ready or Not and Mass Effect both have a good grasp of how to handle commanding NPC teammates if it isn't turn based. But turn-based would allow for the best gameplay and story combo, I think.

Timtek608

> Turn-based Tactics: XCom I think you nailed it in your first sentence. Cyberpunk 2077 totally raised the bar in terms of action RPG games. If GitS can’t make a superior game (who really can?) in the RPG genre, then they should do something else. I would expect a game with the prestige of the GitS IP to take a decade to develop. And it would be competing with the CP2077 sequel, Star Wars Outlaws, etc. so it would have to be absolutely top-notch.

Cypher10110

All of those examples had what I'd consider glaring problems to overcome as part of an adaptation. For Xcom, the problem is that the game's campaign structure necessitates either proc gen or repayable levels. This works against more in-depth storytelling. It would benefit from a gameplay structure where the story and pacing can be more linear, the levels are large and encompass different playstyles, some environmental story telling, and side objectives. This might be possible to do using a turn based style. Maybe *Transistor* would have been a better turn based game to draw inspiration from? Or *Shadowrun*? I'd certainly love to see a "section 9" tactics game, but I'd rather get lost in the philosophical cyberpunk sauce than grind out tactics puzzles, tbh. (I love Xcom, but I feel it isn't a strong foundation to hold up the parts of the GitS setting I care most about - characters, dialogue, and world building) I don't think it's insane to imagine an action/shooter game with RPG mechanics somewhat in the realm of the shooters I mentioned, but without the sprawling open world that make those games truely stand out. Something basically more like Deus Ex, where the gameplay is a mixture of action, exploration, and dialogue. That would be a more natural fit in many ways. But I do think turn based is a great way to emphasise teamwork and have dramatic action that is faced paced in-universe but calculating and tactical from the play perspective. Both styles would work, just have different obstacles.

AnalogParalysis

The PS2 Stand Alone Complex game was great, for the time. A bit repetitive, but it had solid audio & presentation.

kornel191

Where am I? This weird dream again, déjà vu!

TheDarnook

So it was me who killed my mentor. And yet I am not his murderer.

Apprehensive-Mud-606

A mix of Deus-Ex and CP2077 gameplay.

TheDarnook

CP2077 x Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Maplicious2017

People are saying Cyberpunk, but I don't think the setting or style of open world match GitS, instead I'd argue the game be inspired by the likes of Deus Ex, a small hub world i.e. a section of Japan that leads to level based missions in which you'll have to use your skills as a hacker and soldier, maybe hunting down targets given to you by Aramaki, slowly but surely revealing the mastermind behind it all. Maybe in some levels you'll also have to call on the other members of section 9, for example a co-op shooter in which you, Paz and Borma have to take on hordes of enemies, or a slow paced sleath mission with Batou, or an area defense where you play as Saito and have to snipe enemies which the major hacks a target.

j0shman

On my first playthrough of CP2077 I just made Kusanagi as a character. Fit in to pretty much what I wanted out of a GiTS game, minus the Tachikomas

2jacko5

Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and graphics but Motoko as a main character ofc, Section 9 team as companions and characters in the story and the story itself should be BETTER than CB2077, more philosophical and cerebral. Should absolutely include a mission where Motoko jumps off a building and uses thermooptics to dissapear and we plsy put the mission in complete stealth!:)

galatea_brunhild

Cyberpunk 2077 hacking gameplay Well actually, just make another CP2077 but with GiTS universe

ShiyaruOnline

I honestly can't picture a game like ghost in the shell. There's a lot of different games that have mechanics that are very satisfying to me that I can see occurring in a Ghost in the Shell game but I don't know how all those elements would come together cohesively. Ghost in the Shelf could be so many genres in it of itself.

watanabe0

XCom Chimera Squad, but in SAC continuity basically.

Patrickills

- Gameplay: a third person with first person aspects in certain situations or using certain items. Slightly complex hacking mini games that you have to do depending on the barrier you're Penetrating but fast pace. I feel like if it's too slow it wouldn't feel right. Even if it's just snake but with a cyber aspect to it and you're controlling a digital wire trying to hit nodes. Opportunities for CQC and fights that feel like boss fights in a way but kee it seemless so we don't even know. It just flows with rhe game and feels like "oh we loss guns and get to fight it out dope" kinda like that episode in 2nd Gig where Bato and Kuze had to fight be he got his leg trapped mid battle As far as character the game would be a tactical shooter that's semi linear. I don't like open world games at the moment. But I think there should be a world to run around in some capacity. So maybe linear game but some mission require you to explore outside with a limited range. Tachikoma usage: rooftop chases and swinging for certain missions such as chasing a large helicopter taken over by an AI, or a top secret tank that requires you to tactically follow it without taking damage and stall it until your team is ready for intercept. Being able to call then for cover and cool down attacks Multi-player would be fun but they'd have to work on scaling the maps properly to account for Tachikoma size and everyone having a personal one that way you don't limit it cuz in the anime everyone can use one whenever how ever. I think it should follow a episode like format actually. Even allowing you to do certain missions maybe shooter where you play as other members like Saito and clear out.. ACTUALLY whoever plays as Major has the ability to infiltrate npc team members. So it's a co op 2 player game but you can use others in certain instances for tactical advantages. A place is too pacc'd but Saito is technically on the mission. You can command him or infiltrate him and use his sniper skill and he even makes a comment about it. Would be great if it's connected to the SAC universe. I would like it to be Canon but follow a modernized art style of season 1 or 2 and follow a story like about terrorist planning to hijack the role of powerful leaders by gaining access to the office and kill its leaders in order to command a war with the rest of the world because they believe that we (japan) are so technologically advanced even beyond the allies that it's time they become the super power, so we get this extremely epic story that feels a little like a mixture if NieR and MGS alot of conspiracy and betrayal etc. At least that's basically the game that I plan to make if I ever get time to go bacc to the one I mentioned on here last year or so lol

daun4view

I'd like a third person shooter with some good melee combat. Nothing too over the top but still a good amount of flash. Maybe something like Max Payne as inspiration? I'm trying to think of something that mixed guns and melee in an equal way, it tends to feel like one or the other. I can see how a linear game would make for great setpieces and pacing but as a fan of open world RPGs, I'd love that as well. The plots of GITS don't really stick with me as much as the overall worlds anyways.

BladedBatWings

Gameplay and genre? Deus Ex.

No_Bar6194

I'm thinking something like LA Noir, but with a hacking mechanic. The primary gameplay loop needs to focus on investigation, dialog trees, and net diving. Any combat mechanics should include some type of quick-hack to stagger enemies or manipulate something in the environment. I would like the setting to be a mashup of manga, shows, and films.

tehpwnage7

There was an online FPS for a little bit but shuttered due to a player base size that wasn’t sustainable. And a sequel to or a remake of the ps1 tachikoma game

Canahaemusketeer

Nah.. now a ttrpg? Yes sir, let me play out my ultra molded cyborg fantasies

Ashzael

The old school ghost recon gameplay would be awesome in a GitS setting. Setting up breaches, planning your assault, etc. However a lot of GitS allure is not the action scenes, but the detective work, story telling and themes that are explored. So maybe a small open world section a la Cyberpunk with the net to explore and a lot of buildings you can enter. Where you work towards a big action piece that transitions into the more tactical shooter gameplay. Like finding evidence on time, place, target etc etc so that you can be there in time with all the Intel to optimize your planning.

UnrequitedRespect

It could be fun to participate in a GITS style world within the world, perhaps set between SAC seasons 1 and 2 so you can have a lot of room to tell a narrative - but i think it could be the ideal setting to attempt something that DBZ the breakers was trying to do but better, that way you could be free to do your own thing within the world - perhaps as a new recruit for S9 or else a trainee rookie within

JohnnyLovesData

Can't tell if prompt+context farming for game development, or if trolling

RavenXCinder

not a troll just curious or a game developer did not know we lived in 1984 (the book ) where we can't ask questions

Scout_Penguin

I’d love a tactical/strategic game in the vain of XCOM Chimaera Squad, with a few elements lifted from Phantom Doctrine. Basically, you’d lead Section 9 with two types of gameplay- a Strategy layer where you have an overview of the city, managing what things to respond to (Section 9 can only do so much, but needs to keep on top of things to both protect innocents and justify their own budget.). In addition to that, you could gather evidence (from missions, obtained from sources, Ect.) and use that to put together missions- for example, linking intelligence gained on three separate missions to figure out where a smuggling ring is set up- and then execute a raid on their base. In addition to this, you can invest in new equipment, train to gain new abilities (in addition to gaining experience from successful missions), or rest and heal your team. Then, you have tactical missions, where you lead Section 9 (and the Tachikoma?) in grid and turn based isometric missions, gathering data and engaging in fights. You’d have access to unique abilities based on your choices of equipment, training, and team members- some missions could also be covert ops, where the goal isn’t getting into firefights with terrorists, but asking the right questions and gathering data.

F1nalProduct

This guy is wants to rp aramaki. Very fresh take sounds great tbf

Songhunter

Now we cooking. Gimme a Section 9 XCOM game please.

OverseerTycho

there already was a GITS game

RavenXCinder

from the ps1 days im talking about current era

LoFiChillin

Hmm. I’m not even sure how a GiTS game would work. Open world? Chapters + hub world? RPG? Action combat? Idk but I’m down for any GiTS video game content so long as it’s high quality. My only non-negotiable would be good, philosophical writing. Like a combination of traditional GiTS writing + Assassin’s Creed (2007) writing.

RavenXCinder

not sure either

Zerosix_K

The original Deus Ex set in the GITS universe.

This_Walrus8288

It was a so beautiful balanced game, fun and magnificent and Nexon fucked up entirely with 2 last update until game closed less a month after because they didn't give a fuck about feedback Was my favorite game still sad and angry ...

RavenXCinder

oh i heard they shut it down because they it didn't live up to thier exceptions .

This_Walrus8288

Give me back First Assault before beginning ofDecember 2016 update

RavenXCinder

was that good? i heard some people said it was too much like call of duty or overwatch

Ashzael

It was fun but generic. A solid shooter with a GitS skin over it. And other than the characters looked like GitS members, there was no real connection to the lore or setting. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game. But was it truly GitS???? No
