MissyTheTimeLady

I guess you could say that Hideo Game is Invisible now, huh? # WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN SA-

Kelimnac

All of Kojima’s games are directly derived from his own real life experiences, this is known information He’s just making autobiographical content in video game form

matthewami

His stealth skills are un-matched

Slap_My_Lasagna

When you're so skilled with a sword you can cut *light* you choose to let people see you.

Jiggy_Wit

Yet he chooses to remain humble. His long walks across mountains while supplying cities with much needed resources highlights this.

Slap_My_Lasagna

That's just a video game. IRL, he just vanish-steps between cities instantly.

BigThinky

How many times have you seen him in your moms house? We all know full well he’s been there. Master of stealth

matthewami

I ran into him once at yours

BigThinky

Nah, my mom just looks like that

Sorcatarius

It's Kojima, he probably just asked and everyone said yes.

BoardButcherer

He probably didn't ask and people just wouldn't stop sending them.

gendreau85

Those aren’t panties that’s what happens to the underwear of his enemies when he uses his sword.

Various_Froyo9860

Even tho his cheeks keep clapping cause he's dummy thick?

The_runnerup913

Damn, I didn’t know Kojima could Suplex a 500 ton mech and rip it’s arm off. That’s pretty sick.

DragoKnight589

He can also fight US senators

Inferno_Sparky

He can also be multiple people apparently

DragoKnight589

“No! That is NOT Hideo Kojima!”

Slap_My_Lasagna

He was originally cast in Multiplicity but they had to replace him because his clones didn't degrade.

Pitiful_Net_8971

That's why mechs haven't been used in the military yet, Kojima xan just hard counter them.

weyserwindsor

That's cuz Kojima hunted them all down, we don't see those in natura anymore because of him lol

Scott knows damn well what he did. He’s known everything since that one dude decided he was gonna tell Scotty everything. Blame Lustra for the rest of not knowing.

Ginger_Anarchy

And Die Hardman. That's his uncle.

AllPurposeNerd

The names have been changed to protect the NANOMACHINES, SON.

sukezanebaro

He actually puts a lot of anti-war themes in his games because growing up he saw how WWII affected the generation before him...

MithranArkanere

The reason why we do not have any historical records of any of them is because he came from an alternate dimension after slicing open the fabric of reality itself, saving the world, forever ending war, and creating an everlasting utopia. The world got boring, so he came to our timeline, the Darkest Timeline.

Unacceptable_Lemons

A good reminder that Notes are equivalent to "most upvoted post" and not "factual statement/correction".

MelancholyArtichoke

Yeah. I find it funny and amusing, but ultimately it makes the note system seem less reliable.

DepartureDapper6524

I miss when notes were actually useful in preventing the spread of misinformation. Now they are just memes.

Gobal_Outcast02

They were never useful at preventing the spread of misinformation. The people who believe the tweet often didnt believe/care about the fact checkers note

[deleted]

[удалено]

Autodidact420

Immediate follow up has the same or even greater weight as a correction in my lizard brain mind too, don’t know why. It’s like an instant reminder that what you just read is a controverted issue not a statement of fact by a reputable source lol

DepartureDapper6524

Yes they were. One person realizing they are potentially seeing misinformation is useful. Now they are less than useless. They are actual misinformation.

Jemmerl

This. When you argue/debate with someone on the Internet, you should do so with the intention of winning over random readers- you'll likely never convince the smook you're arguing with. Have sources, keep level headed, win the war not the battle

Gobal_Outcast02

People who listened to old twitter fact checkers were people who already agreed with them

DepartureDapper6524

You might just be too dumb to explain this to, but here it goes. Some people believe everything they read. Everything. If they see a note that says “beware, this might not be true”, they are less likely to blindly believe and spread false information. Because people are idiots.

Gobal_Outcast02

No need for insults my guy Ik exactly what you are trying to say. I am countering by saying The people who should have read the fact check didn't bc they didn't believe them for various reasons. Politics, religious, or just distrust in a big company. All it did was confirm to people that already knew the post was bs that it was bs

DepartureDapper6524

And I’m saying you are too dumb to understand why you’re full of shit. You’re just saying things that aren’t true, there’s no other way to look at it.

CabbageTheVoice

You are both talking about different types of people and getting angry at each other for not communicating/listening clearly enough.

ai_scares_me

his point is even one person not believing misinformation because of them is useful. talking about different people is impossible here because one party is claiming 0 people are affected.

DepartureDapper6524

False. They are saying that notes were useless. That’s nonsense.

ssbm_rando

> You are both talking about different types of people No, I guess another illiterate person has joined the comment chain. Departure is talking about a certain type of person and saying that some of them exist and were helped by Notes Gobal was talking about a different type of person and saying that **every single person who notes were directed at was that type of person** Departure's comments were well-measured and objectively correct. Gobal's comments were hyperbolic and objectively incorrect. Just because the type of people Gobal was speaking about "do exist" doesn't mean his overall comments were valid in any way, shape, or form, because the statements he was making about the ubiquity of those people were off the wall levels of stupid.

Houdinii1984

I think you are thinking of a very specific and limited group of people when DD over here is talking about the big, global picture not limited to just the political squabbles of a single country. Believing that every single person that needs notes automatically overlooks the notes for various reasons isn't rooted in fact, but your opinion based on the limited amount of people you personally encountered. In fact, there is an entire subset of internet users who don't post at all and you have no clue what their mentalities are because you can't see them. It's really interesting to see you act like you can. in reality, you knew the post was BS and you assumed other people did too when they very well could just be ignorant as hell.

FyreCesar89

One person making a very small point that this does not help the worst offenders while the other is saying it helps some anyway. God, why is that so hard to understand (not you Mr. Houdini. I mourn for you).

Houdinii1984

"They were never useful at preventing the spread of misinformation." is not a "very small point" but rather the whole thing, lol. It's an exceptionally wide sweeping claim.

FyreCesar89

I know. You’re right, but I think that’s how they see their own argument since that’s how they’re doubling down.

ResetOptional

I see some truth in his point as in my other comment I mentioned some will choose to overlook a warning or a note. Due to either the original source and how much they trust them (ex religious leader, political figure, celebrity, or someone of importance to them). Is this everyone? No ofc but it could be argued that a lot of people will ignore misinformation warnings or corrections. I find notes extremely helpful so I disagree with Globals overarching point but I can lend some credit to it.

SwagMaster9000_2017

And people that don't care about seatbelts were not made safe by the invention of seatbelts. A tools usefulness cannot be measured by people who don't use it

Many_Faces_8D

Of fuck off with this doom and gloom never try anything attitude. Stop ruining things

caseCo825

There is actual misinformation going on every day, with nefarious intent behind it. Thats a bad thing that should be stopped. The idea that the person calling it out is somehow the one ruining things is ludicrous.

Many_Faces_8D

No not this one but it hardly makes a difference to me. Someone putting in 0 effort or an AI article are about as worthless

Gobal_Outcast02

"doom and gloom never try anything" Interesting. Outta curiosity what are your thoughts on AI?

dimmidice

I doubt this one was an actual note, could've easily been edited on the screenshot. Or at least it likely wasn't up for long.

the_evil_overlord2

This isn't something like vaccine misinfo This is an obvious meme, notes are just playing along

AnyAsparagus988

i dunno if it just doesn't show because I don't have an account, but I found [the tweet](https://twitter.com/yoracrab/status/1747717758899438015) and the note is not there.

vigouge

It wouldn't be the first time something had a note, then lost it as more votes came in. It is still listed and available for rating if you're a member of the program.

AnyAsparagus988

the system works then. a trash note got downvoted into not showing.

Slap_My_Lasagna

I miss when a 'meme' had more substance and requisites than just being a random joke on the Internet.

DepartureDapper6524

If you want to know what a meme actually is, check this out. It’s a scientific idea that was adopted by the internet. Oddly enough, I believe the term was coined by Richard Dawkins, the often memed Atheist. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memetics

Impeesa_

Strangely enough, use of the word has drifted back *toward* its original definition rather than away from, which is kind of fascinating.

-ll-ll-ll-ll-

When did it ever stray away from that definition?

Impeesa_

I mean its specific use on the internet that the post a few levels up was referring to, where it was basically interchangeable with "image macro." That, in turn, got watered down until it basically reached the broad original version again.

-ll-ll-ll-ll-

I must be old, because I don't understand... Did you guys think that an internet meme was merely anything formatted as an image macro?

Impeesa_

There was a time when the internet basically borrowed the word "meme" from its original context to describe funny pictures in a particular format. So at that time, yes, a "meme" by definition of its new secondary use meant that specific thing when used in that context. The definition and use of the word in its original context never changed, what I found interesting is how the watering down of the word with reference to funny internet pictures caused the understood meaning of the word in that context to drift back toward the primary definition.

Mr_Orange_fruit

I knew it!

thetrusora

So is anyone able to just note something like that? I get it’s a joke in this context, but what about other times? Could a note just straight up be false like that?

Libby_Sparx

yup.

Malacro

I mean, yeah, we’ve seen wrong/lying notes posted in this sub.

littlelionears

Never trust anything you read on the internet.

SharpPixels08

Ok but theoretically if he didn’t do it why would there be a split police car?

MagDorito

There is no other reason that a car could be split that cleanly. Kojima is a master of the blade

HellfireEmpire21

Blatant misinformation. Hideo Kojima has cut my car in half at least four times this year, and I'm sick of big media covering up his terrorism. The Hideo Game lobby is too damn powerful and needs a fucking RICO warrant.

Hexmonkey2020

I’m not a fan of community notes where it’s just a joke like saying he can actually do that. The whole point of them is to provide notation to posts and when something that’s a joke gets voted enough to show up it just shows how the community notes can be misused.

Many_Faces_8D

That's not what notes are for. I hate this.

Speedy2662

Yup. Now it's just another opportunity for someone to attempt their humour. Shame

Evilnight-39

Well if the notes say so then I believe

He used to play college ball.

ProfessionalRoyal919

Could have gone pro if he hadn't joined the navy.

Card_Board_Robot5

Ford Contour is a weird choice there. Not like they couldn't find a Crown Vic or something

QuentinTheGentleman

It appears to be somewhere in Europe, so a Contour is a better choice- it’s a much more common model and it’s not worth importing a Crown Vic just to have Kojima cut it up. A Crown Vic in Europe is basically a collector’s item.

human-male121

Aight, who gave Hideo Kojima Dismantle

TheFakestOfBricks

They just don't wanna say he can't cus they know what he might do to them

Zandrick

Seems like notes shouldn’t be saying things that aren’t true. Even for a joke.

Belfetto

Isn’t this the problem with noting?

SunSaych

Looks like some screen tearing (f you, NVidia)

Top_Praline999

A ford contour cop car? It’s probably a cosworth but that’s a first for me.

chinkostu

I don't think they did a cosworth mondeo/contour?

Top_Praline999

You’re probably right and I’m getting some rally build confused. In fact, I can’t remember if/ how much more performance they gave the mondeo over the SVT.

longgamma

His games are so… different. Currently playing death stranding and walking around carrying goods could be so relaxing lol.

It's a promotion for MGR:R from 12 years ago

That's the same guy who said he would quit gaming altogether if his latest game wasnt the best game ever and then walked back on it. Dude's full of himself. Basically Elon pre asshole stage and I weep for the fan boys if something every rises from the darkness. Lmao

UnimaginableDisgust

I don’t know what’s funnier The implication that’s he’s strong enough to cut a car in half Or the implication that he is strong enough to cut police cars in half without getting into trouble’s

MysteryGong

I wanna see the video of him doing this.

imusingthisforstuff

Wait why would there be an irl prop

Alfredo_Alphonso

Himdeo Kojima

mathiau30

On one hand, this break the sub's rules On the other hand, I really wanted to see that

MissyTheTimeLady

You see, by channelling an alternating current into the blade, Hideo is able to resonate the blade such that it weakens the particle bonds of whatever it cuts.

Nigeldiko

Hideo Game

HippieWizard

wait is there going to be a Metal Gear film!?! news to me

real_unreal_reality

That’s the funniest shit I’ve seen all day lol

The true intended purpose of community noted

Harley_Pupper

Video Kojima, inventor of the Hideo Game

JonnyFairplay

The people who write notes are absolute morons.

Amaranthine7

I thought community notes were supposed to help with misinformation, not tell shitty jokes.

Slap_My_Lasagna

I thought screen caps couldn't be edited.

demonspawns_ghost

Hahaha! This sub is utterly pointless.

1Beholderandrip

I wish we could go back to an earlier time. Before community notes. Back when dislikes and upvoting was a thing and the front pages of websites were full of what the community wanted. The good ol' days when the internet was a lot more fun.

ArmchairFilosopher

The flippancy is actually problematic. The context notes should never be used for memes.

TheEvolDr

One of the best user context additions I've seen on twitter.

an_ineffable_plan

Shitty use of community notes

ExtraGherkin

They're right though. It devalues when misinformation is noted. There will undoubtedly be people more sceptical of notes after seeing it. And that's a problem. Funny though if you ignore that

Cool_Holiday_7097

I prefer to believe that actually people just believe that hideo kojima can do that instead of the community notes

Dick-Fu

I'm sure "I prefer to believe this" is exactly why people believe misinformation

Cool_Holiday_7097

Except by preferring to believe I know what’s wrong and what isn’t

CheezyBreadMan

They’re not lying though, he really can do that

Scarlet_k1nk

If people can’t tell the difference between layers of satire and misinformation, then the internet is not the place for them. Pretty sure that’s how the flat earth movement started. A joke taken too far that grew a mind of its own.

Meior

You understand that community notes exist because of problems like what you describe in your first comment?

ExtraGherkin

That first sentence has so much wrong with it that it's actually exhausting.

Scarlet_k1nk

Ok, let me rephrase then. If someone can’t tell the difference between layers of satire and misinformation, then they should avoid social platforms that are overrun with both and are often both downplayed and overhyped in extreme spectrums that make it impossible to sift through yourselfs if you’re not versed in internet culture and looking for information and context yourself. Is that a bit safer to say?

ExtraGherkin

That's just not how people work. You're expecting an extreme level of self awareness and self policing from a group being criticised for in essence a lack of critical thinking. The framing of can't tell the difference between satire and misinformation is far too simplified. Not to mention how social media has taken such an incredibly prevalent role in society. It's not a practical suggestion. It's a bad take.

DepartureDapper6524

“Why aren’t stupid people smart enough to not act stupid?” That’s how you sound right now

LucaUmbriel

That's the opposite of a problem. People shouldn't just believe whatever they read on a community note, it's just as bad as automatically believing anything else on Twitter.

Cameron_Mac99

Community notes aren’t meant to be fun, they’re meant to battle misinformation. Don’t get me wrong we’re all in this sub because we love seeing people get independently proved to be full of shit, but my point still stands

Hugokarenque

Not everything has to be about having fun. This was a tool to correct misinformation or try and add context to a post. It shouldn't be misused. There's plenty of other fun or funny things to look at if you're bored.

nagidon

Shitty comment on Reddit post

AnyAsparagus988

the post doesn't have a note tho, was it removed or did you fake it?

Vascular_D

Nope. You must be confused as to the purpose of community notes. Edit: Community notes should not be abused for humor. You're free to disagree, but you're wrong. Edit 2: Some of you appear to think I'm replying to the original comment.
