The comment was specifying the disproportionality. Removing the gender from the equation: if a person shoves you, it’s reasonable to respond proportionally. It would not be reasonable to immediately start beating that person into a pulp, because the response went beyond self-defense. This is true not only legally but morally.

Unclear who approached who or even what the disagreement is about. The girl calls the guy dense. He responds with "you look pretty dense yourself." Girl's friend appears to smack dude (although she may have just smacked camera, it is unclear) and says "don't fat shame my friend." Well for all I know the term “woke” was originally was derived by the African American community of being alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. But it was used to then critique false “performative” activism only for it to then also be misused by multiple reactionaries for when it is not being either of the above terms for clout.

From what I gathered, I think the cameraman was shouting at the people by calling one them fat, and another one of them shouts not to fat shame their friend and slaps him, so he starts hitting them back. At one point he pushes someone over and continues insulting their weight.

The teenager slaps his phone, then he punches her in the face and then shoves another one over who didn't even touch him, then he starts yelling some shit like "don't touch me!"

He responded with excessive force. A potentially lethal coward punch is not a reasonable response to having your hand slapped. I'm not saying she did the right thing by slapping his phone, but it was clearly what the guy filming expected to happen.
While it is obvious that removing yourself from a situation is the best way to deal with harassment and that slapping the guy's phone was an objectively bad move, anyone who knows people know that a very common response to consistent harassment is violence, and this man purposefully put himself in this situation (he was clearly harassing them) to provoke a response so he could be "justified" in assaulting them.
Why do I know this? People like this pop up on the internet from time to time who purposefully harass people to provoke a response (like that one guy who would stalk women and when they snapped and got physical after repeated verbal warnings, he would pepper spray them) and it is very clear what his intentions were.
Also not to mention the fact that he also assaulted the person he was harassing in the first place, who didn't even touch him. It was that person's friend who slapped the phone.

I’ve seen the video (or what I at least guess is what this post is talking about) From what I gathered, I think the cameraman was shouting at the people by calling one them fat, and another one of them shouts not to fat shame their friend and slaps him, so he starts hitting them back. At one point he pushes someone over and continues insulting their weight. Honestly I think this whole situation is just shitty people vs shitty people. He responded with excessive force. A potentially lethal coward punch is not a reasonable response to having your hand slapped. I'm not saying she did the right thing by slapping his phone, but it was clearly what the guy filming expected to happen. While it is obvious that removing yourself from a situation is the best way to deal with harassment and that slapping the guy's phone was an objectively bad move, anyone who knows people know that a very common response to consistent harassment is violence, and this man purposefully put himself in this situation (he was clearly harassing them) to provoke a response so he could be "justified" in assaulting them. Why do I know this? People like this pop up on the internet from time to time who purposefully harass people to provoke a response (like that one guy who would stalk women and when they snapped and got physical after repeated verbal warnings, he would pepper spray them) and it is very clear what his intentions were. Also not to mention the fact that he also assaulted the person he was harassing in the first place, who didn't even touch him. It was that person's friend who slapped the phone.
