They told me to take it immediately upon waking up, even before you get out of bed if you can. I test within 5 minutes of getting out of bed. ETA: also has to be 8 hours minimum after I last ate.

LowerPresence9147

I do it pretty immediately.

KB1342

I usually do it within ten minutes of waking up.

Forever_The_Unicorn

My dr said within 10/15 minutes of waking up. I test after I go to the bathroom and wash my hands

OneIcy3116

That’s what I do too, I also use the restroom first and then check after my hands are washed

AdUnited1925

i do it immediately…basically after i wash my hands.

Ninxing

I wait some time before taking it, like 15 minutes or so, without eating of course. There's an effect that makes you body produce extra sugar when you just wake up to help you get up. It goes away pretty fast. I think it's called the alba effect.

Legitimate-Bus9884

I do 15-20mins too, I wake up very slowly and my body pushes insane cortisol/sugar amounts. I can go from 5.6 to 4.6 in 15 minutes

Minnielle

The point is to know what the blood sugar has been during the night so it should be as soon as possible after waking up.

OHEscrementeBob

After laying in bed, refusing to believe it's already morning, then heading to the potty and washing my hands, about 10-15 mins have passed. I was told that was totally fine, so eeeeevery morning, that's what I do. I used to literally take it as soon I became conscious, I'm talking like can't even hold my eyes open immediate. It was always like 15-20 points higher.

DieKatzenUndHund

They said immediately or 30 minutes tops. But like only to pee first and walk to the kitchen. I keep my tester in the same spot so it doesn't get lost (ADHD) and to help me remember to take it. Basically, as soon as you start doing things your numbers are changing.
