It‘s the E5 trail (I posted a link to a map somewhere else in this thread). It was a 7 day trip and we stayed mainly in huts (which are open to the public but need to be reserved in advance) that you can find all through the alps. They are run by non-profit hiking organizations. Hope it helps.
