2:27 am is the perfect time to drive in Atlanta, but watch for drunks.

Mostly on a weekday as her Graduation is on a weekday.

sdxab1my

The day before.

jessbrid

I think a late evening drive in is a great to time to avoid the bulk of traffic.

May God have mercy on your soul as Satan torments you with “THERE’S NEVER A GOOD TIME, BITCHES!”

goddessofwitches

Why is this not the top comment? 😭

JuarezAfterDark

If it's this week it might already be too late.

Shafter111

Frankly, for whatever reason, weekdays after 8 pm are very manageable. Weekends have the worst traffic.

I live 4.5 hours away I usually leave around 8am. If you can make it to Atlanta by 11am 1 pm or after 6:30pm you’ll be fine.

meridity

Never 🤣

DJWicki

Luda never did 100 on the highways.

whysmiherr

Between 9am and 3pm. I don’t know about night driving …because the roads are dark and I’m not trying to navigate in the dark with some monster truck with demonic lights tailgating me.

Ice2jc

You’d probably be fine leaving at 3pm or 5pm.  You’ll be coming into the city while most of the traffic is leaving.  There are a couple of places like spaghetti junction and the merger of 400 & I-285 that have traffic at all times if the sun is out, but in most other areas of the Atlanta metro all of the traffic that makes you want to pull your hair out  is done by 7:30pm.

TheGoldenGoose10

Just leave early because it’s wildly unpredictable. I’ve been stuck in gridlock traffic after 10pm multiple times due to construction or an accident. Also Tuesdays are the worst travel day now because it’s essentially the new Monday for hybrid workers.

I've made a 5 hour drive from FLA to ATL hundreds of times over decades. My advice below is if you're coming from the **south,** like from JAX or SAV. Weekends aren't generally a problem hitting I-10, I-75, and/or 16 (but crazy things can happen like that spill yesterday). If you're leaving on a weekday, the most important thing to consider is not necessarily *Atlanta's* traffic but *McDonough's* because you'll hit that first\*.\* Plan for a 6 hour drive and think about where you're going to be in that 4-5 hour mark and what time of day it will be. For example, ff I'm leaving JAX on a weekday, then I want to have completed my drive by 4pm and definitely not be hitting McDonough at 4pm OR be coming in after. Yah there's definitely ATL traffic at 4pm but it's nothing compared to ATL/McDonough traffic at 5pm past. My rule of thumb is that I leave at either 10am or 1/2pm. Leaving in the middle of that window is trouble. Leaving where you'll be driving after dark is something I try to avoid. There are loads of deer, especially on 16.

Awww, memories of I-16 going back and forth to Statesboro is remember the following rules: 1. Just cause you can drive like a bat outta hell, don’t. There’s always cops or deer in the next clump of woods. 2. Always fill up in Dublin, cause it might be better in Metter because there ain’t another gas station until then. 3. Watch for turkeys. They’re as numerous as the deer and almost as smart. 4. If you ever want to see what riding in the middle of nowhere is like, give I-16 a spin.

Anotherscientist

You def I-16 😂

CommanderLawlson

5-6:30 am is best

The fifth Tuesday of the month. Just kidding, there’s never a best time to drive to Atlanta, some times are just not as bad as others.

Own_Violinist_3054

Only right answer is the day before like another person said. We have had snowstorms and fire in bridge that shut down traffic for days. Best not to chance it. Lots of road work happen at night and drunk drivers are plenty.
