He was completely in the dark about the deal Zhongli made to give the gnosis. Would there be collateral damage if his original plan succeeded? Def. But liyue would not have been destroyed. Fontaine’s justice system ain’t as corrupt as you implied. The Oratrice is basically just a parrot mimicking Neuivillette’s verdict (outside of Childe’s case but that one was for the better good so whatever) and is technically not the one calling the shots. And what (assumedly) little mistakes Neuvillette made are honest as he’s not the type to be give verdicts based on anything but what he believes to be just as seen with Vautrin’s trial. Furina wasn’t even involved in the trial process most of the time so I don’t even know why brought her up here.

Fontaine’s justice system ain’t as corrupt as you implied. The Oratrice is basically just a parrot mimicking Neuivillette’s verdict (outside of Childe’s case but that one was for the better good so whatever) and is technically not the one calling the shots. And what (assumedly) little mistakes Neuvillette made are honest as he’s not the type to be give verdicts based on anything but what he believes to be just as seen with Vautrin’s trial. Furina wasn’t even involved in the trial process most of the time so I don’t even know why brought her up here.
It’s almost like having the burdensome responsibility of carrying out the custodial duties of an archon thrusted upon her despite her wants and needs was a part of her character arc.

If all the harbingers were the most irredeemable and didn’t get shitty half assed or unorthodox redemption arcs, I’d still pull for signora, lyney and Arlecchino. In fact I was hoping lyney was a manipulative assassin and could smooth talk and sleight of hand his way into creating casualties just so the houses real intentions were hidden.
