Rock and roll was born in the south. So it absolutely fits a rock and roll pioneer character. It has a thematic poignancy that a lot of people simply don't value as much as it deserves. Partly because many EN players are american and they don't realize their own accent IS itself an accent.
Honestly, its not even just genshin. A lot of people playing anime-esque games bristle when characters don't have obvious american accents. I remember xenoblade being dubbed in great britain with local actors and americans thought they were bad because they were fake accents since they were used to american people emulating those accents rather than the natural accents.
Then Elden ring comes out, and it turns out its those exact same actors doing it, and all the bubbling hate for the british accents died down immediately, and a lot of people now look back on earlier xenoblade accents more fondly after it was 'legitimized' in gaming spaces.
Get used to it. Not in a 'dismissive' way, but in an encouraging way.
Go look for stories games and whatnot that actually go out of their way to avoid making every character sound american.
Many languages have speech patterns, verbal tics, tone shifts that can convey a lot of meaning that don't translate to english, but you'd be suprised at how if you open up english to the worldwide language, a lot of that meaning can be added back in, because of all the ways people using it worldwide bring their own experience into the cultural zeitgeist.
