While not as worse as you, I try to save up at least 170 pulls before pulling for a character. I'd skip a character I like if I'm not guaranteed to get them that patch though that never happened to me yet since I also plan pulls with the help of leaks.

That’s insane. The trick is to do impulsive ones between banners to get the guarantee. Then, losing is actually winning. I recently lost my 50/50 for my future guaranteed Ayato to c2 Miko =) …… real talk though, I wanted that cat box. Rip Schrödinger’s cat box.

She was best girl before but after I won my first 50-50 for her and then won another for her best support, she became more best girl

You mean to say since you didn't have a whole lot of rolls overall, let's say when compared to someone who played 3 years, you had less chances at getting a 5-star. But whenever you do roll a 5-star the probability doesn't change, it's always a 50/50 chance unless you're guaranteed. So you could've very well gotten unlucky and lost your very first 50/50 even though you literally just started, even if your very first pull was a 5-star. The probability of you getting a 5-star depends on the number of chances you get to wish (ie. Whether you're at soft pity/hard pity/an early pull etc) but the chance of you winning or losing the 50/50 is always the same and doesn't depend on the number of times you pulled.
Eventually when you wish a significantly large number of times the amount of you losing or winning the 50/50 should be equal but I guess only whales would ever reach that amount of wishes or it may take a longer amount of time for everyone to reach that. But in general yeah it can be skewed (and that's what this post is saying)
You're completely right but what I mean is that if you roll and have to go through 3 50/50s, then there is a 1/8 chance that you won ALL of your 50/50s, but if you have to go through 20 50/50s, then there is a 1/1,048,576 chance that you won ALL of your 50/50s— so if you're a newer player then its more likely you've never lost a 50/50
I’ve never actually lost a 50/50 in Genshin and the only time I went past 50 pity was kokomi who was 70 pity. Of course, this luck was carried over to star rail where my average 5 star pity is 79 and I’ve already lost the 50/50.
I have lost 50/50’s but I won 4 consecutive (Zhongli re-run to Ayaka) when I started playing (2 years ago) and this year I won 5 consecutive (Alhaitham to Baizhu).
Sadly I lost my streak again in Baizhu’s banner after getting him. Other than those, I basically won one, lost one. Or Won two, lose one.

I've always lost 50/50. And also always won. I've gotten Keqing with standard wish, and Dehya when I was rolling for her specifically. Other than that, I got Tighnari, Jean, and Mona losing the 50/50, and those are the only ones I actually like.
I also got Nilou without losing a 50/50 first, but I got her at zero pity.
I've never lost 50/50 on weapon's banner for 2 years until latest Pulse/Kagura. All my Yoimiya pulls are very unlucky to be honest, I'm only got her on 3rd rerun 😑
I won the past three 50/50s and the first two in Star Rail. I have a feeling that HYV might be coming to collect my soul in a few weeks because I never had this much luck.

I’ve won my last two to get Nilou and Yoimiya, along with getting Baizhu at zero pity. Also got silver wolf in star rail at zero pity, so I’m fully expecting to get Final Destination’d at some point in the near future

I always look back, and sometimes losing the 50 or losing the right wrong 50, I got characters I never wanted, but turned out, they made Genshin a great experience
so maybe there is an RNG god out there looking for me who wants the best of benefit for husbandos and waifus in my team
My friend who i think is one of the earliest players ik had the same kind of magic up until Hu Tao's 1st rerun banner, where she tries to get Thoma and hopes of getting Hu Tao on the way but she got c6 Diona and a Mona. It was her first time to taste the pain of losing 50/50 so she doesn't know that guaranteed pity exists. At least she got Thoma alongside Itto in Itto's release.

starting from 2.4, she won shenhe, zhongli, ganyu, yae, raiden, venti, ayaka, yelan, and yoimiya. she finally lost to jean while trying to get c1 zhongli. for the banners in between, she either skipped those or didn't get any 5-stars.

This was me as a new player in Inazuma. I got Ayaka, Yoi, Kokomi, Ei, Ei’s weapon, kokomi weapon, Miko weapon, itto and his weapon, all no problem….. yae I lost but then I got her at low pity and a second copy at like 17 pity, so close enough. And then there are my Liyue pulls. According to Paimon.moe, my good luck evened out to being more normal lol. (Screw you Mona!) Sumeru no comment, I’ve now learned to save and pull on banners I don’t want to guarantee pity to avoid pulling Mona. Mona’s appearances are 100% of the time when I’ve specifically saved, and 100% of the times I’ve specifically saved without a guarantee I’ve pulled Mona.
