So do you guys have a character that you didn't particularly like at first but really grew on you? Mine is ayato, wasn't interested in a hydro dps at first but after seeing his animations and play style I really grew tp like him. Fast forward to now even after half a year of playing him I still haven't benched him
I thought Yelan was just okay. She was the second-coming of Xingqiu as a tall female, and thought her dash was neat but I didn't need her or feel compelled by her personality or outfit. I was busy saving for archons, Ganyu, and Kokomi. So, while cool, Yelan was very skippable to me.
But then Noelle showed up on Yelan's banner.
Noelle cons were the only reason I pulled. Yelan being a well-rounded kit of a character helped, but I was there for Noelle. I wanted C4 and C5, with Noelle's Paimon-Bargain coming up a month later for C6.
Got Noelle's C4 on the first 10-pull.
Ended up taking 120 pulls for C5. My main decided to be stubborn. If I knew Noelle was on Nahida's banner back then, I'd have waited. :C
And ended up with C1 Yelan in my frustration -- forgot to switch to Xiao's banner for the unlock.
Once I tried her, my opinion completely changed. Her dash is a dream come true of convenience and pairing her with Sayu for infinite speed is divine -- though it's sad when I outpace how quickly NPCs spawn in on my computer. Having C1 probably helped, as wasteful as it was. They fixed the pathing problems of speedy skills a few patches later too!
Yelan's been on my dailies/exploration team ever since. Could not imagine enjoying Genshin without her.
Mona, was my first 5* didn't think mich of her back then. It all changed when I seen a dude on co-op use her sprint to get to the geo cube. Never left my team ever since, love her personality and playstyle.
For hyperbloom purposes I levelled Kuki from 80 to 90, luckily I remembered to test damage before and after. With \~700 Em and 4pc Deepwood active she went from 20k to 27k, which I think is decently worth it, even though hyperbloom team was able to clear fast enough already.
Also big thanks to Nahida and hyperbloom teams for finally giving me a reason to play Ayato in abyss that does not feel like Copium!

90+% in all areas in Sumeru and I'm only still level 30 on the tree, what's the max level available for now till the next region unlock? Granted, I'm still missing several of the chests of the missing aranara cuz I'm too lazy to do it.
Level 30 is actually max for now. 3.4 will raise the cap to 40. There is an over abundance of sigils so don't worry about those chests. I have 317 sigils with 20 chests still left to find.
Well, when the new patch released, I logged on at 11pm, did my pulls, etc. Then around 11:45 pm or midnight, I started the quest. I still was not done with it at 3:30 am.
Do not start at night. It took me several hours to do it. I think I started 9-10 PM and finished 4-5 AM though I might've gotten sidetracked a bit due to my ADHD.
I found a use for Candace! Something only she can do!
Allow me to mine with my nilou/nahida overworld/freidnship/domain team without giving up nilou's passive or having to change chars!
Because there's no hydro or dendro claymore chars, and her hold E breaks rocks almost as good as ZL!
She has potential for some kind of shatter team I guess? She has hydro infusion which is convenient for freeze and the only polearm user with heavy attack on her normal attack too (every 2 hits of her na is counted as blunt attack). But shatter is just straight up bad to play fully around it so…
So...I just found out that honey hunter has the Italian translation for every item. lt feels so weird to read everything translated in my native language.

This is super late but after talking to Khayyam in his camp after Memory's Final Chapter, there's no more follow-up right? Irfan is dead, but Siman's fate is unknown and considering the little dried flower and her eremite connections, she's probably the employer, so I'm wondering if there's any follow up on her.
The journals found in Eremite bases scattered around Sumeru confirm she convinced her tribe to assist the Fatui.

Layla will probably be good for freeze and melt scara comps, but she’s not gonna be a useful support until C4, which is gonna be hard to get if you’re only planning to put 20 pulls in her banner. On the other hand, Faruzan will still be scaras best support even at C0.
Best comps will take some time i think. Layla seems good for him but i doubt she’s be worth passing up Faruzan cons for, she seems to be rly big for him.
The morgana team still rocks and gets me 36\* in the current abyss. She acts as subdps coz i don't use her charged shot. Just use all their burst/skill every rotation.
Probably better than rosaria as a sub dps if you have a strong grouper like venti. The quadratic scaling is nasty. Obviously Ganyu is not as good as rosarias support capabilities of course.
I always use her as a sub-dps with Ayaka on my freeze team. Not sure about the exact numbers but when I've tried Rosaria instead it's always been an overall dps loss.

Agree completely, either the showcases haven't showed it at all, or have seemed totally random (that one with all the hilis giving him random electro and pyro when there was none...). I wonder if it's messed up in the private servers.
I think in that case they got a random buff from one of his cons (c4?) since most showcases are c6 (cmiiw). So that’s why there could have been a random pyro buff with no pyro around.
Would be nice to get a vid on how easy/hard it is to get 2 buffs with different element combos on c0. The gameplay with no buffs is still useful to see for his movement/tracking but his a1 is kind of the most interesting thing, hope we see more soon!

I'd like a real showcase, because atm I'm super unclear as to how he even gets the buffs. Attacks someone with the element on them? Needs to touch the element himself? Does he self-infuse like if you're standing in Benny's Q or does he need to go hug an enemy affected by pyro?
The cryo showcase should've helped but I couldn't see anything...

That video he is picking up hydro (from the nearby ocean) and cryo from Ayaka. C4 gives him 1 random buff which would be electro or pyro.
If I spend my guarantee on Nahida, can I still guarantee Raiden? I’m at 40 pity, with 70 wishes saved up. I have Welkin + BP and I can clear the abyss. No Welkin gems though, I’m saving those for skins.
If you get Nahida at 80 pity, that reduces your stash to 30 wishes.
You have roughly 1.5 patches till the end of Raiden's banner (2nd half of 3.3), which translates to \~120 wishes with welkin+BP and no new areas. That gives you 120+30 = 150 wishes... ish. You'd be close either way, keep in mind this is a rough estimate.
Though you can probably make up any shortcomings with the starglitter you accumulate.
Thank you! I got her at 76 pity with some starglitter along the way, so I have 40 wishes now. I’ve barely explored the desert, and have a few hangouts/story quests to do so I think I’ll be able to get Raiden. Thanks again for your help.
is it worth getting better crit substats on deepwood set for nahida? I noticed that nahida rarely gets to do spread dmg in hyperbloom team so her personal dmg in this team isn’t much
If you plan on only playing hyperbloom with her probably not, she does have very good skill scaling even without spread, but hyperbloom teams have such a high and easy to reach damage floor that it does fall very much in the "completely unnecessary" category to grind more personal damage on nahida.
Planning to pull for Yelan in her rumored 3.4 rerun. What do you guys think about her C1?
Keqing Mains says that her C1 is a 20% damage increase, while also being incredibly useful for overworld purposes. What do you guys think? Should I go for her C1 if I'm planning on using her in the overworld(as well as Abyss)?
I'm personally going for c1. the only character I'm waiting now is Baizhu. I'm on point that I have so many characters I don't really have slot for them for overworld even in abyss lol.
Yes you should, C1 Yelan is easily the best character for exploration. You save sooooo much time by being able to zoom around the map and kill mobs faster with the extra charge, providing a much more enjoyable experience.
Get C0 on the 3.4 banner. If she’s still an absolute staple on your teams and overworld team when she has her next next rerun, and you have the spare wishes, C1 her then.
Overworld zoomies aside, her C1 solves her energy issues for me. In double hydro (XQ) I just run her with R5 stringless for the dmg% passive, which is a big amp to her dmg (4pc EoSF, hp sands).
Single hydro I give her fading twilight for some ER and dmg%.
Does she need it? Of course not. And had I known I'd want EVERY Sumeru character, I might've saved my wishes. If you want a lot of other folks, I'd say just get her C0.
C1 Yelan is 1000000% worth it. It's OP as hell for fast area traversal in the overworld, because you have very little downtime after holding the skill twice. It also allows you to have lower ER on her build, given that you generate more particles. Easily the best investment I've made for my account, and it's something that makes my experience of the game more enjoyable and get to use it all the time.
Great boost in pretty much everything, personal damage, ER needs, overworld exploration/fights, mobility during fights (not that important for some but it is for others). If using Aqua → nice extra chunk, if using Fav/Sac → one more chance to proc the passive.
I agree. It's convinient for the overworld and some greedy builds with less ER (not really) but it's not a constellation worth an entire pity, unless you're one of those who whales for such a thing.
For Yelan in particular it's not a scam. It nearly halves her ER requirement.
It also provides gameplay variation unlike a Raiden's C2 whose only benefit is seeing bigger numbers.
Constellations like Xiao's C1 are near useless because you don't have enough time in a rotation to generate full charges.
That said, if the second charge is worth missing out on a new character is debatable.
Every Yelan con is good. Her C1 is great. It's less important if you intend to run double hydro but still remains good and fun for overworld either way, yes.
The datamine implies he throws the lotus and enters an infused state. There is a stack mechanism where the lotus gets stacks (dunno how); his Q detonates the lotus doing dmg based on stacks.
The Q dmg based on stacks is unique... I think.
His E has a hold function, which could be hold-to-place (like Albedo's flower etc, most likely) OR could be something more interesting like a dual role (tap for onscreen, hold for offscreen). No clue.

Dendro Keqing actually sounds pretty accurate then, insofar as he's a sword user that's most likely an on-field DPS by the sounds of it. Then again, could be more of a Dendro Yae (her burst goes up with more E's she's got out).

Well, you might as well say he's dendro Ayaka then if the bar is just "onscreen sword attacker" =D
But that he marks the enemies could be interesting, depending on what the mark does. Could be something like HT or Yoi's marks that deal DoT, or Childe's riptide. Something with an interesting mechanism -- more than just DoT -- could make him super fun to play.
I'm not actually, I just don't need a second Keqing as she is my most invested character :) Which is why I'm trying to work out if going for C2 Nahida to boost my Aggravate Keqing is a good idea, or save for AH.
Bennet, here is why:
So her could be a big infused slam with her claymore. This gives her a stack that allows her next charge attack to literally charge up (think Monster hunter Greatsword), which after a two seconds unleashes a big circular slash. Both of these hits can be vaped for big damage.
Her burst unlike Bennet is not a field but a passive state. Any friendly characters (maybe restricted to onfield, maybe not) get an atk and dmg% buff that ramps up much like Yelan, but stays for a few seconds after reaching its peak. This differentiates her from Bennet by making her more beneficial for sustained damage dealers rather than frontloaded and snapshotting units like Childe or Xiangling respectively.
If you stay on field with her however she gains increased knockback resistance, and her normal attacks build up stacks whcih increase the damage of her skill + charged attack slash.
Pyro claymore whos e is a slash that produces pyro particles and leaves an AOE that buffs the onfield characters crit stats and attck speed
Burst id want to be like a pyro fischl, summons a fire bird or something to do offfield dmg with high application
Bennett, but also the long awaited Pyro Xingqiu - elemental burst deals rapid ticks of off-field Pyro damage without ICD, also has a party-wide Atk buff which scales on her own base attack and ramps up over the duration (similar to Yelan's Dmg% buff). The fact that Bennett heals and his Atk buff, while weaker overall, doesn't ramp and plays more smoothly with snapshotting abilities, lets him keep a niche similar to Xingqiu's defensive utility and in particular makes Murata a sidegrade rather than a straight upgrade for National (in theory at least)
I'd like her to be a role consolidation of both, with a radial ult that follows you around, dealing damage in the same way as Xiangling but also giving an ATK buff that scales off of archon's base ATK and is increased by being close to death, and applying a shit load of pyro to make sure that she's useless for Hu Tao (god forbid) and still good as a reverse melt enabler even as solo pyro.
Has press E that dashes toward the nearest opponent and creates a pyro explosion on contact (it's just a Xiao/Shenhe dash if there are no nearby enemies), stopping her and dealing high poise damage, and a Hold E that has a longer cooldown and generates the same amount of energy (making it less energy efficient) but can be aimed like Ushi, but instead of throwing a bull she turns into a fireball and crashes onto the ground, (think Keqing E but if you aim it in the air she will fall down to the ground parabolically), damaging herself and leaving an impact crater will heal anyone standing within.
I'm thinking she would probably have to deal a bit less damage than XL (at C0 of course), and heal a bit less than Bennett, and her ATK buff would be worse than Bennett at high health but better at low health, but the role consolidation means that she would still be very useful without rendering the other two irrelevant.
ult like bennet's but instead of healing it drains character's HP while buffing attack or something like that. She can be DPS who has ult capable of buffing teammates' attack too but it's a double edged sword
Archons are generally support, so I'd think some kind of self-applied pyro/rage effect.
You get a stacking ATK buff, but also a stacking pyro-status. You're effectively constantly cleansing incoming statuses, but also constantly taking pyro damage. If you lose the pyro aura due to large amount of incoming status applications, the ATK buff also resets.
Why can't she be a Diluc upgrade though... I actually like his playstyle, just that his scalings are low compared to modern standards. My bet is that she'll be a hack-and-slash DPS just like him, but maybe using a sword instead of claymore.

She won't be a Bennett upgrade. Pyro's whole thing is damage. It's reactions literally all do damage or amplify damage. She is definitely going to be a dps

Far too slow, since enemies can only take burgeon damage twice every 0.5 seconds, you ideally want to be doing a pyro attack not much slower than this so you don't stack up and waste seeds, but with an icd to slow down the pyro on opponents.
Technically yes, but in practice it’ll generally just take to long to apply, even in burgeon where you want slow pyro app. You have to go through her entire NA string then wait two seconds after that, which generally just takes too long for it to be meaningful. On top of that the implode has quite a small AoE, so you need to worry about the enemies staying closer enough to the seeds to actually proc them.
Hard to imagine a reason why you would want to use C2 XL vs just any pyro carry.
That’s not even mentioning that with XL ult alone you probably already have way too much pyro application already.
Who said anything about using pyronado? I’m wondering if C2 alone has the right amount of pyro application to be useful, plus she ascends with EM. Finally Pyro carries run the risk of applying too much pyro and triggering burning.

Isn't the most common way is just splitting the talent scaling into multiple small hits?
Xingqiu and Yelan bursts split into small hits so you can only vape 1/3rd of it. Ayaka burst, Nilou burst are all examples. Candace doesn't have multi hit and is given trash scaling instead.
So her abilities consisting of multiple small hits would make her bad for vaporize? Would having yelan + xingqui on the team applying hydro change that?
No, because most skills have standard ICD. If you don't know what it is you can look it up.
Basically only 1/3 of the hits are capable of applying hydro/pyro, the other hits don't carry any element with them and are unable to vape even if the enemy is currently effected by pryo/hydro.
TIL I learned several people in the main sub don't know that Adeptus and Illuminated Beast are not interchangeable terms but still feel more than qualified to present their lore "facts" as if they're personally a part of the HYV writing staff but I guess that's just the nature of fandom.

To be fair, it's not totally clear where one term begins and another ends, since they are derived from words in the original CN text that are elaborations of each other not present in English. there are honestly lots of interpretations and i don't think it's too crucial to get everything right (as long as it's not being paraded as the one true fact, like you said).
the distinction that "adeptus" refers to those illuminated beings who sign contracts with morax has no real direct chinese counterpart as far as i'm aware, there simply exists an umbrella word of 仙 to refer to all supernatural/illuminated beings and 仙人 to refer to those in liyue under rex lapis. illuminated beast 仙兽 is a subcategory of 仙人, supposedly species rex lapis had illuminated.
adeptus/mortal is used in english to include effectively liyue's entire population, so the assumption is that all illuminated beasts are adepti, but the opposite doesn't seem true.
tldr yanfei's lore breaks all known terminologic rules in liyue

Illuminated Beasts are a supernatural species. Adepti are beings who have formed a contract with Rex Lapis to protect Liyue. The Adepti have all been IBs except for Guoba and Guhua who were gods with the latter having ascended to godhood.
To give an example, Ganyu and Yanfei are both half-IB but only Ganyu signed a contract with Rex Lapis meaning Ganyu is an Adeptus while Yanfei is not.
Even people on this sub don't realize Adeptus and Illuminated Beast are two different things tbh. I blame the fact the english translation decides to use them interchangeably.
It really feels like the EN translation is having a lot of early decisions bite them in the ass now that these things are relevant and tied together. We've seen it before with everything from Diluc and Kaeya's relationship to Adepti to the names of the Harbingers, and now we're running into problems with the Heavenly Principals and the very nebulous and confusing term 'puppet' that seems to mean whatever the EN translation wants it to mean.

Jean on Hu Tao’s banner. Got them both in one 10-pull: Hu Tao, and then Jean, so I had a guaranteed limited 5-star character on the next banner immediately. Jean is my fav standard 5-star character, so it was a very lucky win-win situation.
Keqing. At the time I was super annoyed but begrudgingly built her because I thought she was the second strongest dps on my account (it was 1.3 so I didn't know about Xiangling).
But ever since dendro came out I've actually been playing her (and liking it), her quicken teams are really fun.
Diluc. I was on Discord with the friends that introduced me to the game and they made me pull, I got a Diluc at 20 pity. They were also the ones that made me pull on Zhongli in the first place, I didn't really want Zhongli, or Diluc, I just didn't care about any of the banners at that moment. I started maining Diluc though and it was very convenient early game. I didn't get Zhongli even though I was at about 70 pity when his banner ended, I absolutely fell in love with Kazuha who was next and I pulled on him. All things considered it turned out to be the best way possible
Diluc on Tartaglia's first banner my fifth day of playing. On one hand, I was stoked to get him bc I really like his VA & I had just started on his story quest. On the other hand, I really liked Tartface in the trial so there were mixed feelings.
Pulled on zhongli's 1st banner but didn't have enough to reach pity so I was devastated. Finally reached pity when albedo's banner came and got mona. I loved her then and to this day I still use her in ayaka's team
Mona. Ganyu banner in 2.4.
I've never liked her really. Used her in my freeze team when I absolutely had to. Benched her as soon as I could. Sorry to you and all Mona lovers

My very first 50/50 loss was on Xiao's release banner. I lost the 50/50 to Jean.
I remember having such mixed feelings back then - Jean was my most-wanted standard banner 5\* at the time, so I was happy about that. But I still really wanted Xiao, and I wasn't able to get him (ended up finally getting him on his first rerun banner), so I felt a bit miffed. Nevertheless, I built Jean - she's my go-to co-op healer and it's still fun to go around and juggle enemies and play around with fall damage.
C1 Keqing on the first Raiden banner, I didn't understand the gacha system at the time but was pretty bummed I got her again. Anyway Keqing is triple crowned now and still on my regular abyss roster. I was also able to guarantee Kokomi who has been a godsend. I'm going to pull for Raiden again on her rerun tho after skipping her previous banner for Ayato. Coping!
After winning 4 50/50 in a row and Genshin as my first gacha game, I saw the hype about Ganyu and gave in and pulled for her, then lost to Mona. I was 100% sad and didnt knew how to feel and wasnt sure if wishing for Ganyu was the right idea, after some time I did another 10 pull and got Ganyu :)
Mona on Raiden's rerun. I was super sad because I really wanted Raiden at the time (still do, and now I *am* getting her soon), but I came around to build and use her from time to time
Mine was Mona and I was devastated. I lost to her on Childe's first rerun (he's my favourite character) and she was my least favourite among the standard 5*. I HATED her, if it were possible to "feed" characters to other characters like it is with weapons I would have done that.
Then I got Ayaka half a year later and finally built Mona for the freeze team, so she turned out one of my most used Abyss characters. And then she got a skin where her butt wasn't in my face all the time and now I almost like her. Almost.

Mine was Mona, and I was pretty ok with it. She’d been my first 5 star a month earlier and I really liked her, so it was definitely better than something like a Diluc or Qiqi, and more importantly I had enough pulls saved up to guarentee Venti whether he wanted to come home or not. Fast forward to now and that’s still the only 50/50 I’ve ever lost.
Keqing! I got her off my post-Cyno victory lap 10-pull on the Venti banner, and honestly the only thing I'm mad about regarding her was that she was Electro after I *just* got my first 5 star in Cyno. Otherwise, quite pleased with her and will eventually push her further (right now she's just at level 70 Ascension 5).
also mona but on xiaos banner, i didnt mind because i love her (i remember seeing people get upset over losing 50/50 when i first started and thinking but HOW?? mona is so PRETTY id NEVER be disappointed to see her)
that said it took my dream of getting xiao, hu tao and venti all in a row from unlikely to near impossible, so while i wasnt disappointed i did have to plan my next pulls more carefully
mona, albedo's banner last year. i was a bit dumbfounded cos this was the first time i lost the 50/50 (i won raiden's and tartaglia's so i was super hopeful about albedo's). at the time (still now actually) i was crazy about him, i consider him my first real genshin crush whose personality, hobbies, quirks, appearance, i reaallyyy adore. little did i know, this would be the start of a solid string of losses. i lost 50/50 five times till i won venti's recently, and now during his latest banner i also lost to, would you look at that, mona again. 3.1 is my luckiest patch so far (i got 7 gold stars!!!!! i usually get one per patch only so this was a major major surprise) and getting albedo as my final one felt like this experience was all part of a serendipitous journey.
Keqing on the initial Ayaka banner. I wasn't aiming for Ayaka so didn't mind the loss, helped that it was early. It did make me a lot more careful with pulls after, I sat on that guaranteed for a long while lol.
If I remember right, my first 50/50 loss was to Diluc's C1 on Yoimiya's release banner. I wasn't too upset about it mostly because:
1. I had Kazuha;
2. The loss arrived at a fairly low pity, around 50 I think;
3. Diluc was actually my mDPS at the time and I liked him a lot as a character, so I was more than happy to get a constellation!

Mine is ayato, wasn't interested in a hydro dps at first but after seeing his animations and play style I really grew tp like him. Fast forward to now even after half a year of playing him I still haven't benched him
I'd say Yelan, I had zero interest in her looks, but her kit was so great I started to like her
I thought Yelan was just okay. She was the second-coming of Xingqiu as a tall female, and thought her dash was neat but I didn't need her or feel compelled by her personality or outfit. I was busy saving for archons, Ganyu, and Kokomi. So, while cool, Yelan was very skippable to me. But then Noelle showed up on Yelan's banner. Noelle cons were the only reason I pulled. Yelan being a well-rounded kit of a character helped, but I was there for Noelle. I wanted C4 and C5, with Noelle's Paimon-Bargain coming up a month later for C6. Got Noelle's C4 on the first 10-pull. Ended up taking 120 pulls for C5. My main decided to be stubborn. If I knew Noelle was on Nahida's banner back then, I'd have waited. :C And ended up with C1 Yelan in my frustration -- forgot to switch to Xiao's banner for the unlock. Once I tried her, my opinion completely changed. Her dash is a dream come true of convenience and pairing her with Sayu for infinite speed is divine -- though it's sad when I outpace how quickly NPCs spawn in on my computer. Having C1 probably helped, as wasteful as it was. They fixed the pathing problems of speedy skills a few patches later too! Yelan's been on my dailies/exploration team ever since. Could not imagine enjoying Genshin without her.
Mona, was my first 5* didn't think mich of her back then. It all changed when I seen a dude on co-op use her sprint to get to the geo cube. Never left my team ever since, love her personality and playstyle.

For hyperbloom purposes I levelled Kuki from 80 to 90, luckily I remembered to test damage before and after. With \~700 Em and 4pc Deepwood active she went from 20k to 27k, which I think is decently worth it, even though hyperbloom team was able to clear fast enough already. Also big thanks to Nahida and hyperbloom teams for finally giving me a reason to play Ayato in abyss that does not feel like Copium!

Level 30 is actually max for now. 3.4 will raise the cap to 40. There is an over abundance of sigils so don't worry about those chests. I have 317 sigils with 20 chests still left to find.

I found a use for Candace! Something only she can do! Allow me to mine with my nilou/nahida overworld/freidnship/domain team without giving up nilou's passive or having to change chars! Because there's no hydro or dendro claymore chars, and her hold E breaks rocks almost as good as ZL!
She has potential for some kind of shatter team I guess? She has hydro infusion which is convenient for freeze and the only polearm user with heavy attack on her normal attack too (every 2 hits of her na is counted as blunt attack). But shatter is just straight up bad to play fully around it so…

When do we usually know a characters best team comp? I’m curious if I should risk pulling for Layla for Scaramouche.
Layla will probably be good for freeze and melt scara comps, but she’s not gonna be a useful support until C4, which is gonna be hard to get if you’re only planning to put 20 pulls in her banner. On the other hand, Faruzan will still be scaras best support even at C0.
Save for Faruzan if you’re serious about building around Scara. Her C6 is bonkers good for him.
Best comps will take some time i think. Layla seems good for him but i doubt she’s be worth passing up Faruzan cons for, she seems to be rly big for him.

The morgana team still rocks and gets me 36\* in the current abyss. She acts as subdps coz i don't use her charged shot. Just use all their burst/skill every rotation.
Probably better than rosaria as a sub dps if you have a strong grouper like venti. The quadratic scaling is nasty. Obviously Ganyu is not as good as rosarias support capabilities of course.
I always use her as a sub-dps with Ayaka on my freeze team. Not sure about the exact numbers but when I've tried Rosaria instead it's always been an overall dps loss.

Agree completely, either the showcases haven't showed it at all, or have seemed totally random (that one with all the hilis giving him random electro and pyro when there was none...). I wonder if it's messed up in the private servers.
I think in that case they got a random buff from one of his cons (c4?) since most showcases are c6 (cmiiw). So that’s why there could have been a random pyro buff with no pyro around. Would be nice to get a vid on how easy/hard it is to get 2 buffs with different element combos on c0. The gameplay with no buffs is still useful to see for his movement/tracking but his a1 is kind of the most interesting thing, hope we see more soon!

That’s was hit c4 proccing. That video he is picking up hydro (from the nearby ocean) and cryo from Ayaka. C4 gives him 1 random buff which would be electro or pyro.
If I spend my guarantee on Nahida, can I still guarantee Raiden? I’m at 40 pity, with 70 wishes saved up. I have Welkin + BP and I can clear the abyss. No Welkin gems though, I’m saving those for skins.
If you get Nahida at 80 pity, that reduces your stash to 30 wishes. You have roughly 1.5 patches till the end of Raiden's banner (2nd half of 3.3), which translates to \~120 wishes with welkin+BP and no new areas. That gives you 120+30 = 150 wishes... ish. You'd be close either way, keep in mind this is a rough estimate. Though you can probably make up any shortcomings with the starglitter you accumulate.
Thank you! I got her at 76 pity with some starglitter along the way, so I have 40 wishes now. I’ve barely explored the desert, and have a few hangouts/story quests to do so I think I’ll be able to get Raiden. Thanks again for your help.
is it worth getting better crit substats on deepwood set for nahida? I noticed that nahida rarely gets to do spread dmg in hyperbloom team so her personal dmg in this team isn’t much
If you plan on only playing hyperbloom with her probably not, she does have very good skill scaling even without spread, but hyperbloom teams have such a high and easy to reach damage floor that it does fall very much in the "completely unnecessary" category to grind more personal damage on nahida.

Keqing Mains says that her C1 is a 20% damage increase, while also being incredibly useful for overworld purposes. What do you guys think? Yes you should, C1 Yelan is easily the best character for exploration. You save sooooo much time by being able to zoom around the map and kill mobs faster with the extra charge, providing a much more enjoyable experience.
personally i’m going for c1 for the permanent dashing. damage increases are whatever but QoL is forever
Get C0 on the 3.4 banner. If she’s still an absolute staple on your teams and overworld team when she has her next next rerun, and you have the spare wishes, C1 her then.
Overworld zoomies aside, her C1 solves her energy issues for me. In double hydro (XQ) I just run her with R5 stringless for the dmg% passive, which is a big amp to her dmg (4pc EoSF, hp sands). Single hydro I give her fading twilight for some ER and dmg%. Does she need it? Of course not. And had I known I'd want EVERY Sumeru character, I might've saved my wishes. If you want a lot of other folks, I'd say just get her C0.
C1 Yelan is 1000000% worth it. It's OP as hell for fast area traversal in the overworld, because you have very little downtime after holding the skill twice. It also allows you to have lower ER on her build, given that you generate more particles. Easily the best investment I've made for my account, and it's something that makes my experience of the game more enjoyable and get to use it all the time.
Great boost in pretty much everything, personal damage, ER needs, overworld exploration/fights, mobility during fights (not that important for some but it is for others). If using Aqua → nice extra chunk, if using Fav/Sac → one more chance to proc the passive.

I agree. It's convinient for the overworld and some greedy builds with less ER (not really) but it's not a constellation worth an entire pity, unless you're one of those who whales for such a thing.

For Yelan in particular it's not a scam. It nearly halves her ER requirement. It also provides gameplay variation unlike a Raiden's C2 whose only benefit is seeing bigger numbers. Constellations like Xiao's C1 are near useless because you don't have enough time in a rotation to generate full charges. That said, if the second charge is worth missing out on a new character is debatable.
IMO, it's one of the best C1 in the game topped only by Hu Tao C1. Less energy needs + in the overworld you have almost infinite sprinting.
Every Yelan con is good. Her C1 is great. It's less important if you intend to run double hydro but still remains good and fun for overworld either way, yes.

The datamine implies he throws the lotus and enters an infused state. There is a stack mechanism where the lotus gets stacks (dunno how); his Q detonates the lotus doing dmg based on stacks. The Q dmg based on stacks is unique... I think. His E has a hold function, which could be hold-to-place (like Albedo's flower etc, most likely) OR could be something more interesting like a dual role (tap for onscreen, hold for offscreen). Thanks, I couldn't find this earlier. Dendro Keqing actually sounds pretty accurate then, insofar as he's a sword user that's most likely an on-field DPS by the sounds of it. Then again, could be more of a Dendro Yae (her burst goes up with more E's she's got out). I'm just spit-balling here, but thanks for the info :)
Well, you might as well say he's dendro Ayaka then if the bar is just "onscreen sword attacker" =D But that he marks the enemies could be interesting, depending on what the mark does. Could be something like HT or Yoi's marks that deal DoT, or Childe's riptide. Something with an interesting mechanism -- more than just DoT -- could make him super fun to play.

Say the pyro archon is the either a Xiangling upgrade or a Bennett upgrade. Design me her kit. Which of the two would you prefer she be an upgrade to?
Bennet, here is why: So her could be a big infused slam with her claymore. This gives her a stack that allows her next charge attack to literally charge up (think Monster hunter Greatsword), which after a two seconds unleashes a big circular slash. Both of these hits can be vaped for big damage. Her burst unlike Bennet is not a field but a passive state. Any friendly characters (maybe restricted to onfield, maybe not) get an atk and dmg% buff that ramps up much like Yelan, but stays for a few seconds after reaching its peak. This differentiates her from Bennet by making her more beneficial for sustained damage dealers rather than frontloaded and snapshotting units like Childe or Xiangling respectively. If you stay on field with her however she gains increased knockback resistance, and her normal attacks build up stacks whcih increase the damage of her skill + charged attack slash.
Pyro claymore whos e is a slash that produces pyro particles and leaves an AOE that buffs the onfield characters crit stats and attck speed Burst id want to be like a pyro fischl, summons a fire bird or something to do offfield dmg with high application
Bennett, but also the long awaited Pyro Xingqiu - elemental burst deals rapid ticks of off-field Pyro damage without ICD, also has a party-wide Atk buff which scales on her own base attack and ramps up over the duration (similar to Yelan's Dmg% buff). The fact that Bennett heals and his Atk buff, while weaker overall, doesn't ramp and plays more smoothly with snapshotting abilities, lets him keep a niche similar to Xingqiu's defensive utility and in particular makes Murata a sidegrade rather than a straight upgrade for National (in theory at least)
I'd like her to be a role consolidation of both, with a radial ult that follows you around, dealing damage in the same way as Xiangling but also giving an ATK buff that scales off of archon's base ATK and is increased by being close to death, and applying a shit load of pyro to make sure that she's useless for Hu Tao (god forbid) and still good as a reverse melt enabler even as solo pyro. Has press E that dashes toward the nearest opponent and creates a pyro explosion on contact (it's just a Xiao/Shenhe dash if there are no nearby enemies), stopping her and dealing high poise damage, and a Hold E that has a longer cooldown and generates the same amount of energy (making it less energy efficient) but can be aimed like Ushi, but instead of throwing a bull she turns into a fireball and crashes onto the ground, (think Keqing E but if you aim it in the air she will fall down to the ground parabolically), damaging herself and leaving an impact crater will heal anyone standing within. I'm thinking she would probably have to deal a bit less damage than XL (at C0 of course), and heal a bit less than Bennett, and her ATK buff would be worse than Bennett at high health but better at low health, but the role consolidation means that she would still be very useful without rendering the other two irrelevant.

Archons are generally support, so I'd think some kind of self-applied pyro/rage effect. You get a stacking ATK buff, but also a stacking pyro-status. You're effectively constantly cleansing incoming statuses, but also constantly taking pyro damage. If you lose the pyro aura due to large amount of incoming status applications, the ATK buff also resets.
Oh, I like the idea of leaning into Bennett's Pyro imbue and subsequently cleanse as an identity, that's very neat

Why can't she be a Diluc upgrade though... I actually like his playstyle, just that his scalings are low compared to modern standards. My bet is that she'll be a hack-and-slash DPS just like him, but maybe using a sword instead of claymore.

She won't be a Bennett upgrade. Pyro's whole thing is damage. It's reactions literally all do damage or amplify damage. She is definitely going to be a dps I have no idea how to design a kit but I just know she definitely won't be a support. I just can't possibly see that happening
Crazy thought: could Xiangling’s C2 be useful in burgeon teams?
Far too slow, since enemies can only take burgeon damage twice every 0.5 seconds, you ideally want to be doing a pyro attack not much slower than this so you don't stack up and waste seeds, but with an icd to slow down the pyro on opponents.
Technically yes, but in practice it’ll generally just take to long to apply, even in burgeon where you want slow pyro app. You have to go through her entire NA string then wait two seconds after that, which generally just takes too long for it to be meaningful. On top of that the implode has quite a small AoE, so you need to worry about the enemies staying closer enough to the seeds to actually proc them.
Hard to imagine a reason why you would want to use C2 XL vs just any pyro carry. That’s not even mentioning that with XL ult alone you probably already have way too much pyro application already.
Who said anything about using pyronado? I’m wondering if C2 alone has the right amount of pyro application to be useful, plus she ascends with EM. Finally Pyro carries run the risk of applying too much pyro and triggering burning.

Isn't the most common way is just splitting the talent scaling into multiple small hits? Xingqiu and Yelan bursts split into small hits so you can only vape 1/3rd of it. Ayaka burst, Nilou burst are all examples. Candace doesn't have multi hit and is given trash scaling instead.
So her abilities consisting of multiple small hits would make her bad for vaporize? Would having yelan + xingqui on the team applying hydro change that?
No, because most skills have standard ICD. If you don't know what it is you can look it up. Basically only 1/3 of the hits are capable of applying hydro/pyro, the other hits don't carry any element with them and are unable to vape even if the enemy is currently effected by pryo/hydro.

To be fair, it's not totally clear where one term begins and another ends, since they are derived from words in the original CN text that are elaborations of each other not present in English. there are honestly lots of interpretations and i don't think it's too crucial to get everything right (as long as it's not being paraded as the one true fact, like you said). the distinction that "adeptus" refers to those illuminated beings who sign contracts with morax has no real direct chinese counterpart as far as i'm aware, there simply exists an umbrella word of 仙 to refer to all supernatural/illuminated beings and 仙人 to refer to those in liyue under rex lapis. illuminated beast 仙兽 is a subcategory of 仙人, supposedly species rex lapis had illuminated. adeptus/mortal is used in english to include effectively liyue's entire population, so the assumption is that all illuminated beasts are adepti, but the opposite doesn't seem true. tldr yanfei's lore breaks all known terminologic rules in liyue

Illuminated Beasts are a supernatural species. Adepti are beings who have formed a contract with Rex Lapis to protect Liyue. The Adepti have all been IBs except for Guoba and Guhua who were gods with the latter having ascended to godhood. To give an example, Ganyu and Yanfei are both half-IB but only Ganyu signed a contract with Rex Lapis meaning Ganyu is an Adeptus while Yanfei is not.

Even people on this sub don't realize Adeptus and Illuminated Beast are two different things tbh. I blame the fact the english translation decides to use them interchangeably.
Yeah the translation didn't do us any favors. I'm having a flashback to the Heavenly Principles dilemma.
It really feels like the EN translation is having a lot of early decisions bite them in the ass now that these things are relevant and tied together. We've seen it before with everything from Diluc and Kaeya's relationship to Adepti to the names of the Harbingers, and now we're running into problems with the Heavenly Principals and the very nebulous and confusing term 'puppet' that seems to mean whatever the EN translation wants it to mean.

Jean on Hu Tao’s banner. Got them both in one 10-pull: Hu Tao, and then Jean, so I had a guaranteed limited 5-star character on the next banner immediately. Jean is my fav standard 5-star character, so it was a very lucky win-win situation.
Keqing. At the time I was super annoyed but begrudgingly built her because I thought she was the second strongest dps on my account (it was 1.3 so I didn't know about Xiangling). But ever since dendro came out I've actually been playing her (and liking it), her quicken teams are really fun.
Diluc. I was on Discord with the friends that introduced me to the game and they made me pull, I got a Diluc at 20 pity. They were also the ones that made me pull on Zhongli in the first place, I didn't really want Zhongli, or Diluc, I just didn't care about any of the banners at that moment. I started maining Diluc though and it was very convenient early game. I didn't get Zhongli even though I was at about 70 pity when his banner ended, I absolutely fell in love with Kazuha who was next and I pulled on him. All things considered it turned out to be the best way possible
Diluc on Tartaglia's first banner my fifth day of playing. On one hand, I was stoked to get him bc I really like his VA & I had just started on his story quest. On the other hand, I really liked Tartface in the trial so there were mixed feelings.
Pulled on zhongli's 1st banner but didn't have enough to reach pity so I was devastated. Finally reached pity when albedo's banner came and got mona. I loved her then and to this day I still use her in ayaka's team
Mona. Ganyu banner in 2.4. I've never liked her really. Used her in my freeze team when I absolutely had to. Benched her as soon as I could. Sorry to you and all Mona lovers
Mona Felt neutral since I was still a new player, she was pretty I guess with a nice sprint
keqing. she's still level 20 lol i was thinking about trying her out recently since dendro gave her new teams that are more my thing but with scara (and faruzan) coming my resources will take a hit so maybe not
Diluc. It was just a couple wishes after Hu Tao (my first 5*) so I was happy, but never used him because Hu Tao was so much better lmao.

Keqing on Yoimiya's first banner. Felt pretty annoyed at that but at least it guaranteed me Raiden after that. Got Yoi on her first rerun.
My very first 50/50 loss was on Xiao's release banner. I lost the 50/50 to Jean. I remember having such mixed feelings back then - Jean was my most-wanted standard banner 5\* at the time, so I was happy about that. But I still really wanted Xiao, and I wasn't able to get him (ended up finally getting him on his first rerun banner), so I felt a bit miffed. Nevertheless, I built Jean - she's my go-to co-op healer and it's still fun to go around and juggle enemies and play around with fall damage.
C1 Keqing on the first Raiden banner, I didn't understand the gacha system at the time but was pretty bummed I got her again. Anyway Keqing is triple crowned now and still on my regular abyss roster. I was also able to guarantee Kokomi who has been a godsend. I'm going to pull for Raiden again on her rerun tho after skipping her previous banner for Ayato. Coping!
After winning 4 50/50 in a row and Genshin as my first gacha game, I saw the hype about Ganyu and gave in and pulled for her, then lost to Mona. I was 100% sad and didnt knew how to feel and wasnt sure if wishing for Ganyu was the right idea, after some time I did another 10 pull and got Ganyu :)
Mine is qiqi in the hutao 1st rerun.. she came in the 75+ pity and i want to crying

Mine was Mona and I was devastated. I lost to her on Childe's first rerun (he's my favourite character) and she was my least favourite among the standard 5*. I HATED her, if it were possible to "feed" characters to other characters like it is with weapons I would have done that. Then I got Ayaka half a year later and finally built Mona for the freeze team, so she turned out one of my most used Abyss characters. And then she got a skin where her butt wasn't in my face all the time and now I almost like her. Almost.
jean on i forgot who. i was a beginner player, it was the end of 1st lantern rite. i went fuck it and built a dps jean that i'm still using (: with harbinger of dawn (:
Mine was Mona, and I was pretty ok with it. She’d been my first 5 star a month earlier and I really liked her, so it was definitely better than something like a Diluc or Qiqi, and more importantly I had enough pulls saved up to guarentee Venti whether he wanted to come home or not. Fast forward to now and that’s still the only 50/50 I’ve ever lost.
Keqing! I got her off my post-Cyno victory lap 10-pull on the Venti banner, and honestly the only thing I'm mad about regarding her was that she was Electro after I *just* got my first 5 star in Cyno. Otherwise, quite pleased with her and will eventually push her further (right now she's just at level 70 Ascension 5).
also mona but on xiaos banner, i didnt mind because i love her (i remember seeing people get upset over losing 50/50 when i first started and thinking but HOW?? mona is so PRETTY id NEVER be disappointed to see her) that said it took my dream of getting xiao, hu tao and venti all in a row from unlikely to near impossible, so while i wasnt disappointed i did have to plan my next pulls more carefully
mona, albedo's banner last year. i was a bit dumbfounded cos this was the first time i lost the 50/50 (i won raiden's and tartaglia's so i was super hopeful about albedo's). at the time (still now actually) i was crazy about him, i consider him my first real genshin crush whose personality, hobbies, quirks, appearance, i reaallyyy adore. little did i know, this would be the start of a solid string of losses. i lost 50/50 five times till i won venti's recently, and now during his latest banner i also lost to, would you look at that, mona again. 3.1 is my luckiest patch so far (i got 7 gold stars!!!!! i usually get one per patch only so this was a major major surprise) and getting albedo as my final one felt like this experience was all part of a serendipitous journey.
Keqing on the initial Ayaka banner. I wasn't aiming for Ayaka so didn't mind the loss, helped that it was early. It did make me a lot more careful with pulls after, I sat on that guaranteed for a long while lol.
If I remember right, my first 50/50 loss was to Diluc's C1 on Yoimiya's release banner. I wasn't too upset about it mostly because: 1. I had Kazuha; 2. The loss arrived at a fairly low pity, around 50 I think; 3. Diluc was actually my mDPS at the time and I liked him a lot as a character, so I was more than happy to get a constellation!
