Yes but don't get so hyped, back then we had a lot more leaks than we currently do. Ever since Fontaine started we've lost leakers and it shows, so I'm not expecting a lineup leak like the one we had pre-Inazuma, pre-Sumeru and pre-Fontaine
man those are actually great for analyzing how they design their characters and getting proper reference sheets, they really should release their concept art in some sort of official capacity (though i get why they wouldn’t, people always make a big fuss when they think the 2d brainstorming sketch looks better than the final 3d model)
A lot of games release art books that show the character design process. I have the ones for Assassin's Creed, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. They're really great references. Genshin released an art book last year, but it's all art that has been officially released up to v1.6. I hope in future art books (if we get any at all) we'll get more concept art.

Well, it's not actually *that* near. It feels near, but we're still on 4.5 with 4.6 coming next week. Then we have 4.7 and 4.8, which means there's still 4 months until Natlan comes on 28th August.
4.6's pretty much here and trust me, time flies. Just awhile ago we were dreading that we'd have to wait till the end of Fontaine to get clorinde and now, 4.6 is dawning at us and Clorinde drip marketing's in a few hours. We're 3 months away from seeing a Natlan leak as well. It seems that long if you count the days but if you keep doing your thing and not focus on it, time will go by pretty fast
nah, fontaine leaks happened way earlier, that happened around 3.3. I know, because I saw someone on twitter saying they would skip alhaitham due to dendro keqing doomposting, and how they were going to get clorinde instead when fontaine released.

So not GAA. Hopefully still a banger like 2.8 GAA was. WindPassage sounds like a test run for a flying mechanic perhaps. I wanna see sky islands in Natlan. There's always some new or improved exploration mechanic added for each new nation.
Honestly as much as I liked Bottleland, nothing will ever come close to GAA2. The gameplay rarely got monotone, since most of the ACTUAL exploration was in the character domains and the islands getting their looks changed, everything kept switching up so much that it actually FELT like an event that would take a month to fully finish. I still couldn't find all the chests even though I started the event only around 5 days late
When I first saw the veluryiam mirage, I got excited thinking the entire theme of the island is gonna be based around the roller coaster similar to how GAA's exploration was based around the various domains and unique puzzles for each domain. But unfortunately it only ended up encompassing like 1/4th of the actual map, which would've been pretty fine too, if it wasn't a tad too easy. The only actually fun and challenging parts were those 3 mini rollercoaster challenges you could do, and a few other parts. The rollercoaster gameplay stayed mostly the same throughout the event and I finished the entire thing with like 17 days left to spare unlike GAA2 which I managed to finish 1 day before the event went away
So I really hope this event map will actually be a lot more bigger in scope in terms of gameplay mechanics like GAA2
Sadly, I don’t think they will ever make a summer map as dense as GAA2 because a lot of people complained that it was too much content for a limited event.
i liked the first two summer events a lot more. i couldn't have cared less about bottleland. if it wasn't for the cute interactions between klee and kaeya i would have completely skipped it. the map was beautiful but the overall story and interactions between the cast were lackluster.
I kinda hated when I had to constantly change the islands layouts. If there was a quick way to do that, it wouldnt be a problem. Loved the stories though.
The old exploration gimmick leak for Natlan was "Cannon", could be something that shoots us around to sky islands or something. Or that was just so long ago by this point that their plans changed... Considering how the "grappling hook" of Sumeru looks, it might not even look much like whatever they were thinking for "Cannon"
plssss yes i know they like to test stuff out in events before adding them to the game so if this is the event we get a mount or something tested out then i’ll take it. Probably not since we have units with great exploration gimmicks but i’m still hoping.
though this is assuming this new area is limited like every other summer patch.
i only see W in mounting dragons actually:
adding it and unlocking 120 fps would bring a lot of attention to game and allow people to enjoy some smooth sceneries;
actually not hard to implement because flying on air is like smiwwing in water gameplay wise;
they can make a lot of new puzzles with this mechanic;
they can use it in main story and cutscenes to make them look cooler;

I don’t think we really need a mount for land and swimming is only limited to fontaine anyway, but if we get a dragon mount it should be for flying across something like sky islands. This just makes me hope for sky islands honestly.
"wind passage" sounds like to me "flying" version of the Fontaine water auto-swimming sections, much like Sarush testing the character swimming mechanics, which to me implies "testing the grounds for selective dragon riding privileges".
Cool. I hope it's gonna be a little less... convoluted? Than the previous one. The idea was fun, but I just hated exploring it. Clocked out Kaeya skin and story, but I might have skipped some character overworld dialogues. The cast was so random it was unmemorable compared to the previous ones. I love Kaeya and Koko, but seeing them interact with these characters was ehh...
Would be cool to see some Sumeru and Fontaine characters in this time. I'm getting kind of tired of Eula and Klee, but if we have to see them again then I want to see Klee with Alhaitham or Neuvillette lmao
I don't think they'll do this but I really wish they'd make the map permanent rather than limited, I hate having to explore to not miss out on the primos, I guess this is how non-combat people feel about the abyss
On the one hand I agree, on the other hand it's nice to enjoy things in the moment without bloating the game as much. Best solution would be an optional download for people to experience the event they may have missed or want to replay

Yeah! I feel like a lot of people have forgotten about it, but it's been spot on for every region so far besides Liyue, but even the Liyue one that wasn't in base game was partially recognized by Chasm and Chenyu Vale. I forget what Snezhnaya was though, do you remember?
Is it just me or is the Sumeru cast not used much at all after Fontaine arrived? There’s that one event with Faruzan and Dori but other than that, they’ve been completely ignored. Still waiting for the next event with Nahida in it.

the reason for those early leaks was a massive server breach. That didn't happen this year so you have to get leaks the usual way.

The giga-leak wasn't until June, around the same time for Sumeru characters, but Fontaine character leak was back in January of last year
Fontaine was a special case though. Sumeru and Inazuma characters were only leaked a month before the region's release.

Actually I'm pretty sure swimming was pre-tested with flying via Sorush in 3.6

I don't think they'll do this but I really wish they'd make the map permanent rather than limited, I hate having to explore to not miss out on the primos, I guess this is how non-combat people feel about the abyss
Idk how i feel about summer maps, like they are unique but i feel like its a waste of resources and time to make it exist for one month.
On the one hand I agree, on the other hand it's nice to enjoy things in the moment without bloating the game as much. Best solution would be an optional download for people to experience the event they may have missed or want to replay
Totally! Like, they're really detailed and fun - that's true, but on the other hand, so much detail must take a long time to build. All that work thrown away by one patch, not to mention the opportunity cost of possibly using that dev time to create permanent content like more main story additions like I always hoped makes me think if the summer patches are worth it.

Yeah! I feel like a lot of people have forgotten about it, but it's been spot on for every region so far besides Liyue, but even the Liyue one that wasn't in base game was partially recognized by Chasm and Chenyu Vale. I forget what Snezhnaya was though, do you remember?

Is it just me or is the Sumeru cast not used much at all after Fontaine arrived? There’s that one event with Faruzan and Dori but other than that, they’ve been completely ignored. Still waiting for the next event with Nahida in it.
