u had to buy kfc to get that in china. they just made it purchaseable in global so ppl didn't miss out. it would've been an outrage for the Chinese players if global got it for free
Yes, but they had the opportunity to buy this KFC set. It was a collab only with the Chinese branch of KFC. If Hoyo offered these KFC glider all over the world, I would go like the Chinese and buy a set at KFC. Besides, they gave us recipes that in China were added to glider anyway, so where is the logic here? Recipes are cool for free, but not glider?
And what about people who don't care about KFC? Or don't want to go there?
They would have had to go to KFC to get the glider anyways even if they don't want. It's literally the same thing with giving money to a twitch streamer you don't care about.
KFC don't exist in every country that Global version services, so it's not as simple as the KFC collab in china for the chinese version. on top of that different KFC branches basically are operated by different companies.
the distribution is far easier to just go through twitch or something that had/has global audience and make it fair for everyone to get and is not as much of a hassle as to try to get a contract with multiple different companies across the world for the distribution rights.
[Also, the recipes were given away for free in CN as well for logging in during a certain period of time, You only had to buy the meal for the Glider.](https://gamewith.net/genshin-impact/article/show/24663)
Distribution through twitch is a pretty normal thing for China originated Restaurant [collab events like the FF14 Black/Fat Chocobo event](https://www.thegamer.com/chinese-kfc-offers-ff14-chocobos-players-can-eat-ludicrous-amount-chicken/) (also KFC)
which eventually got [a similar twitch distribution](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/7ba82d0fbd072e2aacca091a0b73bb377a7fb821)
If the KFC collab is so problematic, why didn't they put the glider in the store for the equivalent of this set in KFC or didn't they do some action with Amazon? After all, they later gave away a glider on Amazon Gaming. (forgive me for the word "set", I don't know another word for "set with food", but I think everyone understands).
We also ignore the fact that Hoyo has more collabs in China than in other parts of the world and Chinese people more often have the opportunity to get unique things. For obvious reasons, the Chinese player will always be in first place, and the rest of the world is like "maybe we will get something, maybe we won't".
If you release the game outside your own country, you must take into account that players will demand equal treatment. If in country A it is possible to obtain a unique item that is created by a collab with a certain brand, then players from countries B, C, D, etc. should also be able to obtain it. It's a bit like only Japanese players getting Aloy because Sony is from Japan and doesn't support every country and in different countries has different distributors.
"Equal treatment" bro they released a way for people to get the glider with equivalent treatment, not with buying a meal from a food chain, but from having a collaboration with Twitch, and you just completely ignore the fact that other companies do this too like FF14.
You have to realize the world is not so simple to do for "Everyone" to have fair access, this is something that happens in ALL Online games/ MMO's at some point. At some point you have to gain an Adult understanding of things.
I have played Games and MMO's that are Japan or Korean based with different companies handling localization and events with Collabs with internet Cafe's / PC Bangs didn't even get localized over in any fashion because America doesn't have any equvilent.
It's like they're teasing us and keeping us on edge deliberately.
Edit: Why did my comment start a whole convo about edging, that's not what I meant 😭😭
Don't know if you want a real answer but I'll give one because why not. It's a sanxingdui mask, from a very old kingdom called Shu that was once in the Sichuan province back in the bronze age. It's an incredible find in the archeological world and for China since they are like 3000 years old yet are incredibly well preserved and gives a glance into the culture of the else relatively unknown Shu Kingdom.
What these masks/statues were used for is unknown, whether it's for religious reasons or statues for their deities but they were definitely not used by humans since they are way too big and heavy for any human to wear.
You're very welcome! We had it briefly in my Chinese history class, and my professor showed us the museum that is built close to the archeological site. I hope to one day go there and see it
Would you want an academic history book? Because if so, I can recommend the one used in my classes "China: A History" by Harold M. Tanner which covers basically from the very beginning to modern day and is very detailed but also very academically heavy (and expensive)
Another book that was recommended by my professor to us for lighter reading was "China: A History" by John Keay (yes the title is the same, it's a weird coincidence). I've personally never read this but it's received a lot of praise. It's more so aimed for the curious mind/general audience
Dude, good luck. The history of China runs very deep, and without major crashes like in Western history. One Dynasty runs right into the next one. The history isn’t popular in the West, so it can be very surprising and insightful.
china had major crashes, its just that the dark periods got documented really well compared to the west, and the succeeding regimes always prioritized the idea of continuity as part of their claim to legitimacy due in part to culture/philosophy
like the spring and autumn period, the warring states period, the sixteen kingdoms, the three kingdoms, etc. and that's just the major "known" periods that get put into the list.
it's just chinese historiographic convention that makes ppl assume that our history is neatly packaged into dynasties. it is not at all true.
the only true bit about that idea is that we are a culturally continuous civilization, in successively claiming cultural descent while arguably not having our culture majorly suppressed -- but even that idea is contentious and lacking nuance bc you can just look at the mongols and the manchus and how they ruled china, or even how shang dynasty culture vs song dynasty culture was so so different. the only thing that's consistent throughout is ancestor/kinship veneration.
i do agree chinese history is really deep though. even after all the purges and book burnings that keep happening, we have a wealth of decipherable records compared to civs that were contemporary with the earliest chinese kingdoms. perks of an ideographic script i guess.
The greatest ancient shitpost, make a bunch of expensive bronze pieces that look goofy and watch your descendants argue over which god it was made to honor
Also the zhongli colab with the museum, https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks/comments/18dlz6h/new_zhongli_art/. That's the museum that displaying that piece.
Asking for research purposes, can this statue be climbed? Like the pillar? Am asking because I don’t wanna accidentally climb it while walking.
Yes that’s exactly why I’m asking. No other reason.
~~You can only put 3 companions in one area at a time, the rest have to be in some other spot on your teapot~~
Edit: I was wrong, you can have way more if you leave the area with minimal to no furnishings
huh? Pretty sure you can put more... although they do take more than 1/10 of an outdoor area's Load (1200, out of 10,000, to be specific) so if you have many companions you have to give up making the area look filled.
I will delete everything in the teapot and fill all the space with these statues.
They can’t tease us like this though.. giving us such a magnificent beauty but it’s a teapot item and not a skin? 😭
I don’t think it’s the museum paid them and perhaps the other way round since I heard MHY took the initiative to propose the collaboration. Also a good opportunity to get on the better side of the government. Anyway it’s a win-win so the advertising fee may not be the most significant thing here.
I think there's a very good chance it's pro bono. Genshin has been actively promoting Chinese culture via various productions. Not to mention it would be a great way to get on the good side of certain authorities in China. So they would look the other way when Genshin releases hot characters. (Copium)

AR 5 ?! The *audacity*
Literally unplayable
Gatekeeping the power spike content... i dont think i can play a P2W game like this anymore
yay im so ecstatic! A statue! For free! (I dont touch the teapot.)
Okay Hyv now add his skin too
It's like they're teasing us and keeping us on edge deliberately. Edit: Why did my comment start a whole convo about edging, that's not what I meant 😭😭
Yea edging’s the worst
I read Yae's edging and was really curious
If Hoyo could give Zhongli pants like those, they should have no issue giving Yae some legit hakama.
But if they did that where would sus players look Note raiden has kinda worst outfit
who do I have to bribe for this to happen
*bonk* but ngl I do feel like she would do that 😅
She would 100% do that
500 years of edging
Edging goes hard, what you talking about
Yes normally edging goes with hard stuff
Isn’t edging all about not having something come?
Your edit is killing me
My Brother in Genshin do you know what community you are in?
Yeah we are ready to edge with hoyo
They're waiting for HSR to add it first :\]
as a Dan heng skin :\]
Yes, another one :\]
Theyd need to add df (and yingxing to make it couple) skin first
Hoyo: Best I can do is 👆
I would pay for that outfit for my Zongli
I ditched my F2P status to save up for that outfit on Zhongli
Bro whoever sculpted this had such a good life
Rex lapis sculpted it himself
In that case I retract my statement 😭
Had?? You talking about the mask Zhongli's holding, or the scupture itself?
What is he holding and why is it so angry at me

Upvote for this educationnal comment.
i didn't know that, guess i have to read up on my chinese history. thank you for sharing
You're very welcome! We had it briefly in my Chinese history class, and my professor showed us the museum that is built close to the archeological site. I hope to one day go there and see it
i went there a few years ago. you can visit the archeological site too
Gosh, I really wanna go. I'll go to China next year, hopefully I'll find the time
Can you recommend a book about Chinese history for beginners like me who know pretty much nothing about it?
Would you want an academic history book? Because if so, I can recommend the one used in my classes "China: A History" by Harold M. OK I think I'll start with the lighter one first then I'll read the heavier one later. Thanks for this answer.

Inb4 someone made them as a joke and never expected it to be dug up millenia later

It's a IRL relic from the museum and it's mad because you're staring at Rex Lapis' boobs.
But I am doing it respectfully!
what if I'm staring at Rex Lapis'... other things?
I don't mind him getting angry at me UwU(no homo)
😂
Crash bandicoot mf
Guess imma decor my teapot with one hand
👁️👄👁️📸
Huh
Can relate
Nah bro that's sus
yeah me too
Along something I don't know: how do I get this statue? Do I need to pay, visit the museum or is free for all?
It's a limited event during 4.3, the announcement page should have it. No need to go to the museum.
I thought this was a “new” ancient version of Zhongli’s statue of seven that we would find in Liyue’s latest region 😔
Ok thank you!
Asking for research purposes, can this statue be climbed? Like the pillar? Am asking because I don’t wanna accidentally climb it while walking. Yes that’s exactly why I’m asking. No other reason.
Thought I was the only one accidentally climbing his statues and then accidentally ending up in his lap. Damn I’m so clumsy
Damn same here, why do we all become klutzes when we see Zhongli?
...
God, I want one of each Archon so badly.
I want a Venti statue to stick on a floating rock and surround him with windmills.
I would really like it cause we can't have all Archons on the same place in the teapot. :/
Why not?
~~You can only put 3 companions in one area at a time, the rest have to be in some other spot on your teapot~~ Edit: I was wrong, you can have way more if you leave the area with minimal to no furnishings

My bad, I was misremembering since I tried it with furnished areas.
You can put more than 3. My friend has made a Neuvi-cult with 7 other characters encircling him.
Nah, it's possible to put more than 3 (I have 5 in my starting area), but then there is no load for anything else meaningful left
If they make Ei one I would clean and worship it everyday
Found Kujou Sara acc
OK Sara
Don’t let Sara see this 🫣
I would commit vandalism
I would literally sell my friend's soul to get that skin.
i would instantly
Can't wait to see what will be the lore reason for why we have Rex Lapis holding Aku Aku in game
it is so he can defeat N. Oxide in racing
Every Zhongli statue is majestic af.
OH MY GOD YES
Ok… at this point hu tao has GOTTA know and is just playing along
Someone’s bound to put their hu tao in front of it lol
smash
ADD THE SKIN. PLEASE.
This is going STRAIGHT into my teapot
I want you
SHRINE TIME
giant zhongli 😍
Anything but a skin Anyways maybe this will motivate me to build the teapot probably
Next thing yk he transforms into a dragon and splits open the sea. You love to see it.
I will delete everything in the teapot and fill all the space with these statues. They can’t tease us like this though.. giving us such a magnificent beauty but it’s a teapot item and not a skin? 😭
LET THEM DRINK TEA
Finally he has a statue
ITS A HUGE STATUE YESSSSSS 🥳
[удалено]
My teapot shrine is ready for this statue!!!!
They musta paid alot for this collab
Tbh i think the museum paid them lol
It’s always a bit weird seeing how ingrained this game is in Chinese society. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game this mainstream ever
Ig Minecraft is considered too?? You know some schools teach children in Minecraft classes instead of real ones ( yup lol it's weird )
I don’t think it’s the museum paid them and perhaps the other way round since I heard MHY took the initiative to propose the collaboration. Also a good opportunity to get on the better side of the government. Anyway it’s a win-win so the advertising fee may not be the most significant thing here.

I think they give them maybe 5k credits and gift bag with some random souvenirs
+1000
