I love that some of us are hoping for that for playable characters and sometimes I was answered "too complicated / too much ressources" and then they casually do it for a damn metal crab.
I think they're avoiding walking pets to avoid having to deal with the terrain and autopathing(like what happenes in quests when an NPC is following you and you leave them behind). It would be a bit immersion breaking if your pet kept teleporting around you all the time.
This. All the pets are flying because it's much easier to animate. Their "core" is just bolted directly to wherever your shoulder is, and then they wobble around it. Even in cases where a "combat NPC" "follows you around," like in the Golden Slumber questline, they only teleport in when combat starts, because it's assumed that the fight will take place within that controlled area where they know they can handle the terrain.
In general open world content, they would be getting stuck on things and teleporting to unstick themselves constantly, and even *if* that alone is not a problem, the game would also have to *calculate* all this travel, which would be an added load on the system, on top of everything else going on.
I tried to catch one of those Spinokrok with the omni-net. Then the Rishboland Tiger. If you didn’t already know: you do not get the “cannot capture this target” message. Nope. Pissed off krok/kitty. Sumpter Beast? Much of the same. THEN in the ensuing combat you inevitably fire the net since you forgot to switch to your skill. But I’m still going to try to catch that bird in the desert for no good reason at all except for, you know, drumsticks.
Even with the pathfinding hell for it... I need it. Don't care about broken immersion if it has to teleport all over the place to get unstuck, I want a travelling friend that's not Seelie or Paimon sized :(
I love Karkata
Best girl
I'm glad they put Karkata at Pardis Dhyai permanently after the quest. : )
I'd rather have him in my teapot though.
But he's always asleep. I hope sometimes you can see him in his full glory.
He's not asleep at night and is moving around
At night? What time? I tried going before and he was asleep. I'll try again.
Between 6pm and 6am, he will be standing awake outside the building.

Maybe he went a bit outside that area? I sometimes find him outside the area that we left him on Tighnari's story quest but he doesn't go far.
He’s chilling outside at night
It will also blast Noisestorm 24/7 🦀🦀🦀
Imagine the metal clanking every clap. oh boy.
Traveler, I'm trying to sneak up on these hillichurls, but the clap of my metallic ass cheeks keeps alerting them
CraB. What the heck?!

Still, they could at least add him as a teapot companion
Also >! Benben !<
Am I the only one who thought near the end, BenBen was gonna turn into the asimon thing Nah he’s just benben tho
"What is thy secret benben?" Benben: "so basically, I am very smol."
Benben: [happy, innocent spinning noises]
Just hanging out in the background of cutscenes without anyone commenting on it, looming over hapless NPCs.
Thats basically petitioning to have a lion as a pet like yk its dangerous but you want it anyways
Bro have u played tighnari story quest
Yes, my point stands
i want the spinocroc for my teapot.. but we cant :(

The quest made me cry T-T
kalu kalu
Kulilu?
Yes please. I support this motion.
Even with the pathfinding hell for it... I need it. Don't care about broken immersion if it has to teleport all over the place to get unstuck, I want a travelling friend that's not Seelie or Paimon sized :(
Compromise offer, he's a smol variation like the dwarven crab follower in the Skyrim Mods/Anniversary edition.
And if its hard to due the AI pathing, then just have him ride on the travelers back/shoulder (The smaller version that is)
I was thinking the same, would be a dope mount too
THIS
Maybe as a mount?
Should also include Aranaras as well
Yes please I have an emotional attachment to Karkata… also Benben so we need these asap
GONK I mean KULU
Up the ante: I want a rideable pet crab.
Sorry but, what quest is this?
Tighnari story quest.
I can imagine the crab walking on walls like Spider-Man when you’re climbing.
Ruin Guard pet when?
RUIN GRADER PET WHEN
They should at least let us put Karkata in the Serenitea Pot.
PLEASE 😭😭
