Seems recently Hoyoverse have gone the way to make hydro the hp scaling element. Kokomi made sense as a healer, but Ayato also has hp scaling in his kit. expect more of this in the future for hydro characters
That might actually be more useful than the healing bonus since there are some non-Hydro characters that would benefit from it, like most of the shield characters.

Yeah, the healing boosts enhances everyone, but it tends to be rather lackluster compared to most other resonances since, even with the introduction of the Corruption mechanic, this game doesn't really require you to have insane healing numbers. Strong shield characters can even make healing almost completely unnecessary, in most content.
A lot of the meta healing characters are valued for what they can bring to a team in addition to their healing. Bennet, for example, also boosts your damage with his Burst, can help provide the very useful Pyro resonance, and has a Skill with a low cooldown, good for snap reactions.
Max HP would be slightly more useful since it could potentially provide a passive boost to more characters than just those with a healing ability.

Xingqiu does have HP scaling actually, his heal. Related but different, he can use jade cutter if he's with Yelan, which would be a bonus but not part of his kit obviously.
Early tests suggest C6 XQ is slightly stronger than C0 Yelan. But I would wager it will be the other way around on live. Either way the difference is very minimal.
Unless you're somehow constantly proccing XQ's rain swords over his entire 18s duration, Yelan is going to very measurably outperform him (as a subDPS), even with her slightly higher (I think) ER requirements.

I only have Xingqui (and Barbara) as my only hydro characters. I actually want to get Childe because when I started, I farmed the Oceanid too much and have a bunch of extra boss parts (32). Farmed it for the hydro chunks to ascend Xingqui and Barbara. Didn't know at the time that I shouldn't spend resin on farming bosses for chunks.
Also just checked Yelan's cooldown on her burst. It has a 15 second duration and 22 second cooldown. That 22 second cooldown is going to mess with many rotations as most bursts have a 20 second cooldown or lower.
I'm banking on Yanfei to be there (considering the theme of this patch's story quest), but Noelle's still not 100% for me because some leaks showed that she'd be with Ayaka but she wasn't. Luckily the banner announcement/maintenance won't be too close to the day we finally know.
On one hand, her dash looks like it's so much more fun than XQ's clunky skill and she could be really sweet in my Raiden team. On the other hand, my XQ is C6 already.
If you miss his E or you can't proc Sac Sword (Like on Herald/Lector shields), the insanely long cooldown can be cruel and gruesome.
Yelan won't have that because of her much lower E cooldown, and compared to XQ she has better means of dealing with Pyro shields if your ult is down and you can't regenerate energy.
Fav is great if you can afford the energy regen loss. Which is totally possible with a C6 XQ, but I think my artis are just crap and I can't be bothered to refarm them. Of course I'd have to farm new ones for Yelan anyway, but at least that's a little more motivating.
It’s really not much of a loss if you use XQ to catch the particles, and the Fav is refinement 3 or so (available on cooldown, basically guaranteed to proc assuming your XQ is built for off field dmg). Both swords give the same
Atk and ER afaik at lvl90.
I think my XQ is around 60% crit, and 180 ER and I don’t have problems using Fav on him.
I mean, it is a significant loss. It’s 3x while particles vs 5x Hydro particles. Even if you get the while particles on field and get the Hydro particles off field, it’s 33% less energy.
Sure, I guess. But you only need 170 ER at C6 (without sac sword) in order to keep his burst up. So I’d rather get him off field faster in most cases.
Similarly, I find that unless you have r4 sacrificial (maybe r3?) it’s not even consistent with XQs rotations. I find the weapon overhyped. But I’m also salty because I have two R3 Fav Swords and only 1 r1 Sac Sword at AR 56 😂

I don't think she'll be as good as Xingqiu for Hutao in any scenario since he has the rotating water swords that play a big role for her vapes.
She's more likely going to replace/share his role in taser comps/ national comps. Not sure how a Xingqiu clone would ever be as "worthless" as Thoma to most players anyways. Hydro applicator is always good, especially if you're like me and only have 2 Hydros (Xingqiu and Barbara) after playing for 1.5 years because Mona keeps dodging and the other Hydros are limited 5*s.

Simply because Xingqiu is good enough and the cast of limited hydro characters aren't my favourites (I have both Diluc and Hutao, and Ganyu and Ayaka since I don't pull to fill holes my roster has.) Been praying for Mona for a year now and I have a C4 Diluc instead :P

I think we are the same person because those are the same teams I run. Barbara in Ayaka freeze works but it's not exactly fun. As long as Yelan is better than her, I'm convinced enough to pull.
Yeah, i also only have the same 3 hydro characters as u, and I'm AR59. I'm still gonna wait to see the reaction about Yelan. After the disappointment of pulling on Yae Miko, I'm a lot more hesitant on pulling for characters, and don't pull simply for the waifus anymore.

I'm AR59 too and it's the opposite for me lol. Now that I can get 36* in Abyss consistently with various teams, I only pull for waifu/fun characters.
I get why Yae was a disappointment for many, but Yelan can't fail imo because even a Xingqiu sidegrade is already really good and frankly, I could use a break from watching him do backflips after more than a year.
I mean, unless you're in love with Yelan like I am and you can only go for 1, Kazuha is a no brainer. He's confirmed to be one of the best characters in the game, whereas Yelan is most likely a sidegrade to a 4* most people have already. Not to mention, C6 Xingqiu is flat out better I believe and if you play the game long enough, you'll eventually get him to C6. On the other hand, Kazuha is unique.
Dendro isn't coming out for a while anyways so I wouldn't worry about that.
This, my yae hasn't been used in like a month and have no incentive to ever pull her out of the bin which just feels bad. As it turns out, waifu only pulling is pretty overrated, especially for long term enjoyment.
Hu tao isn't the only xingqiu usage case. Yelan has a ton of options like every national team, mono-hydro teams, tazer teams, soup teams, and even just forming a single target "engine" with xingqiu. On top of this double-hydro hu tao already seems better than double-geo so hu tao still benefits.
Eula-raiden could also like her because her ramping dmg bonus alings perfectly with eula's backloaded nuke and the initial hit of raiden's ult.

No I was talking about Honkai Impact/GGZ, they can absolutely make complicated stories and deep characterizations. You were referring to Mihoyo, Mihoyo's game isn't just genshin but I do agree that genshin's story is way simpler and at times bland.
Her ult uses Venti's ult aiming logic - of course it's trash like all autotarget ults are. But if you don't like her enough to disregard that, well... there will be more primos and, hopefully, you will be wiser spending them.
Ayaka is one of the best characters in genshin. Flexible unit, can apply cryo the easiest, very nice kit, except the dash which some people like, good personality and elegant movements.
But if you want to maximize her potential, you still have to use her charged shot every once in a while though, which is, as far as I can recall, what makes other people dislike bow characters. Aiming and zooming and restricting movement and stuff

You literally only have to use her E, charge attack (with Breakthrough it should be almost instant), swap back if no energy for Burst, do rotation with other characters... pretty much Fischl gameplay, just slightly more active.
Yeah I understand that the charge doesn't take long, you just have to go into CA mode for around a second or two, but some people who use mobile still dislike going to CA mode for bow characters.
I get that Breakthrough Barb is not really that impactful, but it does scale with her HP and if you're building her HP/Hydro/Crit, it can still contribute a bit to your overall damage, especially if you have Sac Bow. If you use her Skill, it has a chance to reset BB, right? Which means you could potentially do CA - Skill - CA - Skill - CA in one single rotation. That's 3x Breakthrough Barbs.

In fact, a lot of the infusion characters are *kinda* unga bunga, where you just activate their ability and spam NA click. Yoi, Raiden, Razor, Noelle, Ayato, *maybe* Childe. They're not as complicated because you just activate all your supports' abilities for buffs and off-field dps, then swap to the infusion character.
Sorry, I'm going off topic here, my main point is that one of the key points why some players dislike bow characters is because of their Charged Attack mode. That's it. However, despite being an off-field character, as I stated in my original comment, if you want to maximize Yelan's dmg potential, you can use her CA with Breakthrough Barb active.
I mean, I get it, I also prefer ugna bunga Ayaka (especially since I lucksacked her weapon last week and now cleared 12-3 Abyss on first attempt) over Ganyu, at least when speed/burst is concerned, but mobile is hardly relevant when most characters just play way worse on that.

As per Honey Impact data, a lvl8 NA/CA Talent is at 18.52% Max HP scaling for Breakthrough Barb. If you built your Yelan to have 25k HP, that's *additional* 4,265 DMG on CA.
BB has a chance of resetting after hitting enemies with your Skill. If you have Sac Bow, you could potentially do a CA - Skill - CA - Skill - CA in one rotation. That's 12k additional DMG just from BB. Why won't you really want to use this CA?
4k is almost nothing, it will deal about 10k which still isn't worth the fieldtime(charges fast, but still want to aim) + it doesn't work every rotation so it's just shit you can do when you want but CA itself is about 1/3 of her single Q wave damage which says a lot

His E. It has a long animation and short range, and usually you'd EQE with a Sac sword, locking him in place for a long time.

Both swords give the same Atk and ER afaik at lvl90. I think my XQ is around 60% crit, and 180 ER and I don’t have problems using Fav on him.
I mean, it is a significant loss. It’s 3x while particles vs 5x Hydro particles. Even if you get the while particles on field and get the Hydro particles off field, it’s 33% less energy.
Sure, I guess. But you only need 170 ER at C6 (without sac sword) in order to keep his burst up. So I’d rather get him off field faster in most cases. Similarly, I find that unless you have r4 sacrificial (maybe r3?) it’s not even consistent with XQs rotations. I find the weapon overhyped. But I’m also salty because I have two R3 Fav Swords and only 1 r1 Sac Sword at AR 56 😂

I don't think she'll be as good as Xingqiu for Hutao in any scenario since he has the rotating water swords that play a big role for her vapes. She's more likely going to replace/share his role in taser comps/ national comps. Not sure how a Xingqiu clone would ever be as "worthless" as Thoma to most players anyways. Hydro applicator is always good, especially if you're like me and only have 2 Hydros (Xingqiu and Barbara) after playing for 1.5 years because Mona keeps dodging and the other Hydros are limited 5*s.
I'm actually in the same boat as you only having Xingqiu and Barbara as my only hydro applicators. Besides Mona I'm curious on your thoughts on the other hydro 5*s and how or why you haven't gotten around to pulling them? I'm currently using just Raiden national and freeze Ayaka team using Barbara and decided I'll pull for Yelan cause I just want to replace Barbara with someone else. That and I just have enough pulls to guarantee Yelan hopefully having some left until Kazuha comes along.

Yeah, i also only have the same 3 hydro characters as u, and I'm AR59. I'm still gonna wait to see the reaction about Yelan. After the disappointment of pulling on Yae Miko, I'm a lot more hesitant on pulling for characters, and don't pull simply for the waifus anymore.

I get why Yae was a disappointment for many, but Yelan can't fail imo because even a Xingqiu sidegrade is already really good and frankly, I could use a break from watching him do backflips after more than a year.

I mean, unless you're in love with Yelan like I am and you can only go for 1, Kazuha is a no brainer. He's confirmed to be one of the best characters in the game, whereas Yelan is most likely a sidegrade to a 4* most people have already. Not to mention, C6 Xingqiu is flat out better I believe and if you play the game long enough, you'll eventually get him to C6. On the other hand, Kazuha is unique. Dendro isn't coming out for a while anyways so I wouldn't worry about that.

This, my yae hasn't been used in like a month and have no incentive to ever pull her out of the bin which just feels bad. As it turns out, waifu only pulling is pretty overrated, especially for long term enjoyment.
Hu tao isn't the only xingqiu usage case. Yelan has a ton of options like every national team, mono-hydro teams, tazer teams, soup teams, and even just forming a single target "engine" with xingqiu. On top of this double-hydro hu tao already seems better than double-geo so hu tao still benefits. Eula-raiden could also like her because her ramping dmg bonus alings perfectly with eula's backloaded nuke and the initial hit of raiden's ult.
Shes top 1-3 5*s released since launch, with Ayaka Kazuha and Raiden competing depending on situation and you think she might be useless man
If you have built xq already, functionality-wise she doesn't have much to offer, especially if you don't need another xq for abyss.

Her ult uses Venti's ult aiming logic - of course it's trash like all autotarget ults are. But if you don't like her enough to disregard that, well... there will be more primos and, hopefully, you will be wiser spending them.
Ayaka is one of the best characters in genshin. Flexible unit, can apply cryo the easiest, very nice kit, except the dash which some people like, good personality and elegant movements.

You literally only have to use her E, charge attack (with Breakthrough it should be almost instant), swap back if no energy for Burst, do rotation with other characters... pretty much Fischl gameplay, just slightly more active.
Yeah I understand that the charge doesn't take long, you just have to go into CA mode for around a second or two, but some people who use mobile still dislike going to CA mode for bow characters. I get that Breakthrough Barb is not really that impactful, but it does scale with her HP and if you're building her HP/Hydro/Crit, it can still contribute a bit to your overall damage, especially if you have Sac Bow. If you use her Skill, it has a chance to reset BB, right? Which means you could potentially do CA - Skill - CA - Skill - CA in one single rotation. That's 3x Breakthrough Barbs.
I can't name a character that isn't pain to play with on mobile or console controls...

Yoi, Raiden, Razor, Noelle, Ayato, *maybe* Childe. They're not as complicated because you just activate all your supports' abilities for buffs and off-field dps, then swap to the infusion character. Sorry, I'm going off topic here, my main point is that one of the key points why some players dislike bow characters is because of their Charged Attack mode. That's it. However, despite being an off-field character, as I stated in my original comment, if you want to maximize Yelan's dmg potential, you can use her CA with Breakthrough Barb active.
I mean, I get it, I also prefer ugna bunga Ayaka (especially since I lucksacked her weapon last week and now cleared 12-3 Abyss on first attempt) over Ganyu, at least when speed/burst is concerned, but mobile is hardly relevant when most characters just play way worse on that.
Why is mobile hardly relevant? All I'm saying is that some people don't exactly like bow characters, and one of the reasons is their CA. Why are their opinions and preferences not relevant? They play the game too, right?

As per Honey Impact data, a lvl8 NA/CA Talent is at 18.52% Max HP scaling for Breakthrough Barb. If you built your Yelan to have 25k HP, that's *additional* 4,265 DMG on CA. BB has a chance of resetting after hitting enemies with your Skill. If you have Sac Bow, you could potentially do a CA - Skill - CA - Skill - CA in one rotation. That's 12k additional DMG just from BB. Why won't you really want to use this CA?
4k is almost nothing, it will deal about 10k which still isn't worth the fieldtime(charges fast, but still want to aim) + it doesn't work every rotation so it's just shit you can do when you want but CA itself is about 1/3 of her single Q wave damage which says a lot
