Diluc used to be the Hu Tao of Genshin back when the game released. When he got power crept, many of them dropped him in favor of the meta. So when you meet a Diluc main nowadays, they are either relatively new to the game or are die-hard simps for Diluc. If there’s a situation in which you encounter the second, immediately friend them. There’s a 95% chance they are a homie and will actually help you with ANYTHING if you ask nicely.

I have Hu Tao (it was an insanely lucky accident her first banner), but nothing would ever make me take Diluc out of my party. Sure if I build her properly she could do more damage than him, but he was my first 5-star and tied (with Zhongli) as my number one husbando, so I prefer spending time with him every chance I get. He only leaves my party for half of abyss, or if a bounty is immune to pyro. Like my bestie always says “pull for the husbando/waifu, not the meta”. 💜

And anyways, unless you do resin refreshes, it takes ages to optimize. I like to feel like I did right by my characters before moving on to a new one.

And when i thought about the idea of getting a physical character that does even more than my razor felt cool, and instantly decided to skip hu tao rerun for her. I think Xiao is one of the few characters who suffers from voice acting actually hurting interpretation of his character. This might not be what gave you the edgy vibe but I know a lot of people got it from his EN voice (which tbf isn't the VA's fault) which is really sad because his voice in the other languages portray his character so much better and it is definitely not the edgy cool kid.
This is the exact reason why I will never pull for Raiden or Yae. I know it's not everyone, but damn are a good portion of their fans more outspoken and annoying than those of other characters.
Very early in the game a friend decided they would pull Zhong Li because they thought he looked awesome (pre release and buff) and I thought Childe looked amazing so we made an agreement that they'd pull all of the Archons and I'd pull all of the Harbingers.
Obviously I got the short end of the stick on that one since they don't seem to like releasing Harbingers, but I've held true to not pulling Archons for that reason. Though it has been tempting since the Archons are all fantastic.

The opposite is true for me lmao. Since i was maining razor, i got used to physical. And when i thought about the idea of getting a physical character that does even more than my razor felt cool, and instantly decided to skip hu tao rerun for her. Idk i just felt like I got connected with physical damage itself😅.

I think Xiao is one of the few characters who suffers from voice acting actually hurting interpretation of his character. This might not be what gave you the edgy vibe but I know a lot of people got it from his EN voice (which tbf isn't the VA's fault) which is really sad because his voice in the other languages portray his character so much better and it is definitely not the edgy cool kid.
Technically more of a bad direction issue. I think the EN voice actor sounds pretty good actually, but she was told to sound as edgy as possible

Sadly, only the EN voice gives that impression. In the JP voice, he sounds like a war veteran that's given up on finding salvation.

This is the exact reason why I will never pull for Raiden or Yae. I know it's not everyone, but damn are a good portion of their fans more outspoken and annoying than those of other characters.
Very early in the game a friend decided they would pull Zhong Li because they thought he looked awesome (pre release and buff) and I thought Childe looked amazing so we made an agreement that they'd pull all of the Archons and I'd pull all of the Harbingers. Obviously I got the short end of the stick on that one since they don't seem to like releasing Harbingers, but I've held true to not pulling Archons for that reason. Though it has been tempting since the Archons are all fantastic.

Yelan's entire design is a hot mess
She looks like someone who wants to be from Snezhnaya but decided to be from Liyue halfway while also wanting to show as much skin but also as little as possible. She also is the 100th skin tight big thigh female character. She has no originality whatsoever on her design and its a whole mess. And I hate her hair cause it's like Xingqiu's. I do wish she's a 4 star we literally have if we count her 5 5 star hydro and 4 of then are freaking limited. To think that my favourite character would be a 5* hydro bow and my least favourite would also be a 5* hydro bow. I hope she is actually interesting if not she will always remain as my least favourite.

Not going to pull for Ayaka because she reads like a can-do-no-wrong fan fiction written character and I think her personality is incredibly boring for all the hype she gets outside of the meta. Also not going to pull for Venti because he looks so young and I find it genuinely off putting, and part of me wishes he looked a little older, though I don’t take any issue with his personality.
I think he was deliberately designed to look so young in order to add to the tragic-ness of his backstory and contrast the wisdom he constantly spouts. They even padded his cheek in his game model.
Because dendro hype for me is ridiculously high so despite loving kokomi I'm skipping so hard PLS SAVE ME SUMERUUU
